can't army of india understand that arjun is vastly superior to russian t-90s vladimir...obsolete t-72...and pakistan chinese and ukrainian tanks (t-84u)..and new red chinese ztz designs! wake up india be prepared for more wars!/ u.s.a.
arjun the shining failure of bharat...based on german leopard and failing after years of designing...its not even 50% indigenous, which is the requirement in bharat to call anything indigenous...u make 50% of something and call its made in india..haha rules for losers..work for losers...
Arjun is not the best but a better tank. all the problems pertaining to Arjun has now been solved. Muzzle, Guns, Temperature issues have been resolved. now it is equipped with Most Modern and lethal weapon system with all weather firing capability. the main cause of concern is its weight as it weighs 58 Tonns. cant be carried on a Flat bed Railway coach. but its a good piece to buy.
India is launching Satellites for US, Canada, Netherlands, Russia, Japan & EU. We have the world record of launching 10 Satellites in one launch (PSLV C9) 60 years of independence We have planted our National Flag on the Moon, unlike pakistanis who reach for the Aid begging bowl. We did? this using our own Rocket tech ( PSLV ) unlike ur country buying chinees rockets. We dont beg for Aid from US as ur country does, ur country is on the 10th Position of Failed nations list.
The Indian Ballistic Missile Defense Program is an initiative to develop and deploy a multi-layered Ballistic missile defense system to protect India? from missile attacks. Introduced in light of the ballistic missile threat from Pakistan, it is a two tiered system, namely the Prithvi Air Defence (PAD) missile for high altitude interception, and the Advanced Air Defence (AAD) Missile for lower altitude interception, able to intercept missile launched 5,000 kilometers away,(wikipedia).
India has PAD (Prithvi air defence, Tested Successfully) Its a Missile Shield against rogue Countries like Pakistan.
India now has -
Prithivi, Agni(5000 KM), Shaurya, Nag, Brahmos (Hypersonic Cruise Missile), Spyder ( Python 5 & Derbi Rockets) Akash, Lakshya Missile System. We dint beg for Aid like your country does or bought Cheap outdated Missiles from China. Its very nice to see that you all continue live in a world of lie where as your country is inching close to being a Failed State.
From force magazine, Comperatively trial of Arjun tank, T 90 and T 72 has taken place and Arjun has performed relatively satisfactory, IA will order 250 of these and 250 of Arjun MK-II
As a tanker, I would be thrilled to trust my life to a "relatively satisfactory" tank. The Indian Army and government have poured billions into the Arjun. Backing out now would be admitting they wasted it...
I've never understood India's insistence on developing its own weapon systems. If India had gone with the Leo, or even the T-90, it would have saved billions and fielded the tank years sooner. Now they have a weapons system of which they are only going to do a small run which will jack up the unit cost. And, the tank theyve got is inferior to its contemporaries
Results of 2007 army trials of the Arjun revealed, and I quote:
"The army was extremely unhappy with the tank, citing 14 defects that included "deficient fire control system", "inaccuracy of its guns", "low speeds in tactical areas" and "inability to operate over 50 degrees Celsius".
The article also pointed out that the Arjun is 16 years late in being fielded. Again, the Indians would have been better off with the Leo 2.
@sayareakd number 1: it sucks. because its indian, therefore it automatically sucks. number 2: it will fall apart faster than that bridge during the commonwealth games
number 3: its probably made of cheesepuffs and curry
@Waltham1892 they probrably want to create some form of local market for their tanks or they probrably want to make a name for themselves. One thing I absolutely hate about india is how they like to present their country to the world as a great power by making space and military programs when 90 percent of the people in their country is poor and need government help
hey dud nice survey about india, 90% poverty??? i didn knew that bro, i think u can apply as some news reporter, but for that you need to do one more thing, FUCK and SUCK yourself.
@Waltham1892 : See one very important reason for developing our own technology is that then we can ensure we have as many as we want when we want them.... Also when we buy many adavanced technologies are denied to us and also in conflict times getting spares gets very difficult... which is a very serious problem that India has faced again and again w.r.t many Russian equipments, over a 100 Bofors guns are out commission cos of lack of spares...
@dreamermanu There are a great many advantages to developing your own technology... It makes our country more capable of taking a stand with out having to rely on any other nation for protection..... and as for cost eventually as we become more and more adept in developing our own equipment costs will come down.... you cant expect anyone to get everything right the first time.
I see you point. However, the trade off is that by building only a small batch of tanks for domestic use, you are not going to build up a industrial base that is going to be able to surge production of tanks or spare parts in an emergency. To make matters even worse, the tank you are building probably isn't worth building...
@Waltham1892 : In the tank world 500 Tanks is not a small number its pretty large... that when combined with the fact that many more of these Arjun Chasis will be used to create Engineering Vehicles and Bridge Layers the number becomes even larger.... Also its not just a case of Industrial back base but also Scientific base... remember the first tanks U.S. made were crap and were no use against the german compatriots... only later during the war did they evolve to match the german tanks.
When you look at the production runs for the M-1 and Leo family of tanks, 500 tanks is not that impressive. England made 850 Challanger II's and the French made 800 LeClerc's. Also, the resources India has spent developing an industrial base to produce an inferior tank could probably have been better spent elsewhere. This seems doubly true as India does not seem to need, or be able to maintian, a large armored corps.
The T-90 deal that followed the failure of Arjun was huge multi billion dollar one.... Its highly likely that the failure of the arjun just at the right time helped a lot of people become very rich... Its just a unfortunate reality of India... There are plenty of evidence of corrupt defence deals in Indian history... this will neither be the first or the last
@dreamermanu Corruption certainly may be a factor, but the Arjun's cooling issues with main gun accuracy, weight, width, and engine reliability were certainly keeping the tank out of both production and service. I'd guess that as many people were making money pushing the Arjun through development as were by leasing T-90's.
Also I am not sure where you are getting you data from but India has one the largest armoured corps in the world with nearly 3000 tanks compred to apprx 500 each of England, Germany and France refer the
List_of_main_battle_tanks_by_country in wikipedia..... I am not able to post the link for some reason but I am sure u can find it if u seach
@Waltham1892 I didnt say 500 Tanks is impressive I said its a start.... and as for need India need a armoured corp a lot more than England does... England is surrounded by water on all 4 sides.... and we are surrounded by two nuclear nations... both of whom are of adversaries to one degree or another... with both we have fought wars and have outstanding territorial disputes..... Some of the largest tank battles since the 2nd world war have been fought by India
True, but England was facing the Soviets in Europe, the most tank-happy Army in the world. India does have Pakistan and China, but neither nation is what I would call "armor capable".
It seems to me, thousands of miles away, that India has a history of trying to manufacter its own weapons, and either failing or ending up with a poor product. The Arjun is the example at hand, but there has also been the Mukut and LCS fighters...India would have been better off buying what it needed...
@Waltham1892 I am sorry Mr.Waltham but your opinion of our technology seems coloured by your opinion of us as a people.... Now you have gone from calling Arjun tank to useless to callin d armoured corps of India,Pakistan & China to be useless.. I think tht in ur opinion us Asian's are not capable of producing advanced things...... very sad to c such opinions still persist in your part of the world......
Indian technology has come a long way from colonial era we have stuff tht even u dont have.
@dreamermanu Also you might want to luk into this India has one of the largest Armoured Corps in the d world much larger than England, France or Germanies. Please refer the List_of_main_battle_tanks_by_country on wikipedia if you doubt my word.... You might c tht T-90s alone out number England MBT.
Is this the same guy who moments ago referred to his own people as corrupt?
If you believe my comments are racist, you are in profound error. My opinion of the armor capabilities of said countries is based on the capabilities of their equipment and a knowledge of how tanks are deployed, employed, and sustained in the field.
Can I assume you are not a tanker, never have been?
If you can not make your point with reason, trotting out the race card isn't going to help. Poor form sir...
@Waltham1892: You were not just talkin abt tanks... U said & I quote
"It seems to me, thousands of miles away, that India has a history of trying to manufacter its own weapons, and either failing or ending up with a poor product. The Arjun is the example at hand, but there has also been the Mukut and LCS fighters" I am not even sure what MUKUT & LCS r. r u referring 2 d LCA & d Marut... I thought u were a tank guy now u r expert on planes as well hmmmm how convenient
@Waltham1892 India has already indigenously developed its 2 tiered own ballistic missile system... something English do not have... we launched our first nuclear submarine last year and it is currently undergoing sea trials.... We've jointly developed & deployed d fastest cruise missile in d world... we've one of d most reliable launch vehicles in the market the PSLV. We are the only country other than U.S. to have an aircraft with thrust vectoring engine currently deployed d SU-30 MKI
How nice for India. However, most of those technologies are not indigenous and were either jointly developed or purchased out right.
This undercuts your argument about Indian's drive for a military industrial base doesn’t it?
Now, there is nothing wrong with buying equipment rather than going the long way around to develop your own. The US as an example; the 105mm gun on the M-1 was English, the 120mm on the M-1A1 is German. The AV-8 is an Americanized BAE Harrier…
@Waltham1892 I never said that v shud not collaborate, Even out right purchase is ok as long as there is technology transfer and India based production for e.g. the T-90 tanks most are being made in India... But I do take exception to your argument that we should not try because according to you we are not capable of creating advanced technology and by the way. Even arjun tank is actually a collaborative effort the Fire control and Engine e.t.c which u said r not gud are actually of foreign make
@Waltham1892 You are very right sir but my point is that there are greater tactical concerns at play wen v think of such things...In an ideal world v cud eliminate weapons all together but in a world where allegiances change & trade embargo's r levied India cant afford 2 take chances wit its security. India lacked capability in all fields after colonial occupation to quote Nehru our first prime minister... We cud'nt even manufacture a safety pin... We've come a lng way but not lng enuf
@Waltham1892 If Nehru thought like u... v wud not have nuclear weapons, we would not have sent a probe to the moon, v wud not have spy satellites... v wud be reliant on other for everything not just defence equipment.
U've to admit some of ur comments r without logic I quote "India does not need, or can maintain a large armour corp" considering we've 1 of d largest armour corp that seems a bit ill informed to the say the least... To top tht off ur comment on chinese armor
@Waltham1892 The chinese have d 3rd largest armour corps in d world and u say they don't know what they r doing please explain that one to me cos it just does'nt make any sense... Can u blame me for sayin its racists if its not racists then what is it... may be as a English soldier u r blinded by pride... I don't know either way its ur statements tht speak of racism not me.
@Waltham1892 Second Lets be honest neither of us can categorically say whether the Arjun Tank is usefull or useless... There are many countervailing arguments laid out both in favour and against....
And after comparative trials with T-90 in 2010 the IA ordered more so one can only guess what ever initial hiccups were there have been overcome. Unfortunately 1 thing to remember abt India is tht there is lot of corruption so DRDO's complaint abt sabotage cannot be ruled out.
I was an Amor Officer so I think my opinion of the Arjun is is an educated one. I don't believe that the Arjun is usless, but it is not as capable as other tanks which were readily avalible during the course of its development. As someone familiar with the logistics of fielding tanks, I can also say that it is more likely than not that the Indians will have difficulty keeping the Arjun fielded if hostilities last more than a few weeks, and little to no way of making good on loses.
@Tomahawk1999 Yes, and no. India does not need a large number of tanks and its unlikely to be an exporter of tanks given the jump the Germans and Russians have on them (US tanks are to expensive to buy or maintain for most nations). So, what India gains in self reliance in armor it will lose in building a specialized industrial base for a product that it will only build in small numbers and not export.
@Waltham1892 lol.. you just read my mind dude.. the israelies are good example.. their main MBT merkava is a modified version of centurion and added tech and other features of israel... i think indians should have picked a good old chasisfrom a good tank and improved it.. would have saved a lot of money...
@Muralidharan001 I think India could have gotten that without the cost of development and a small production run. It could have reverse engineered an existing design or build one under licence...I think this was about ego and not armor.
@Waltham1892 Hey man its not ego. Industries need experience for building tanks.Reverse Engineering doesn't give advanced outlook on mechanism, developing and manipulating makes progress and eventually will lead to superior indigenous build in future. Its not design corruption in govt. factories make them inferior. I think you are under estimating Indian scientist and engineers. Intel, microsoft etc. have 1/3 Indian engineers. Even F-22 raptor development team had many Indian Engineers
@Muralidharan001 I've never heard that 1/3 of American egineers are Indian and I don't think it matters if they were.
That you bring it up, again, makes me think this is about nationalism and not the practical aspects of equiping an army.
Indian pride may be served by a 25 year development cycle for a tank design which, due to its age, is inferior to what could be purchased. However, I don't think the folks who have to pay for the tank, or operate it, are so well served.
@Waltham1892 I didn't say 1/3 of engineers in america are Indians. Many major research and tech companies In US have 1/3 engineers as Indians even Nasa has Significant amount. Well we can take pride at least we entered the list of countries that can make tank. You still didn't get my point how can India can develop advanced tank itself in future without developing something before. so you say we have to depend on all the time on foreign tanks and buy them.
"I think you are under estimating Indian scientist and engineers. Intel, microsoft etc. have 1/3 Indian engineers"
The above is a quote from you. So, you did say it as incorrect as it might be.
So India has developed its first tank after a quarter century of development, billions of dollars, and its not as good as an off the shelf tank the Indians might have bought.
This is more of a cautionary tale on how not to aquire equipment than a prescription on how to.
@Waltham1892 something seriously wrong with your understanding ability. Its 37 years delay is common in our country coz India is a socialist democratic country with inefficient political system. It was designed long before but govt shelved it coz no factories at that time to produce it. but DRDO kept updating it finally agreed to produce it in 1996 and Army inducted it in 2011. Billions of dollars imao it should be millions of dollars we invested only 4 billion in FGFA(PAK FA) program itself.
@Waltham1892 Its not inferior to leopard2 tanks design wise but manufacturing at govt factory made it so. Initial batch tanks had some problems using this opportunity army officials rejected it in order to receive their cuts from Russian manufacture. The fixed late batch tank performed nearly equal to bhishma( upgraded T90s) and costs 40% less that t90s
Guy, since the Germans have updated the Leo2 three times while the Arjun was in development, and the Arjun was not exactly a well developed project to being with, how could the Leo2 be inferior?
The Leo has been in constant developement since the Leo1, it is THE standard tank for those not using Russian designs.
I can understand national pride, but as a tanker I know national pride does not turn a sow's ear into a silk purse.
@Waltham1892 I guess u could be less English literate Chinese or less IQ African. not inferior to leo2 = superior to leo2? that too I said in design. Arjun tanks got upgrade to MK-II version. Progam cost is $112 mn and unit cost $3.8 mn if u sell some tank at $3.5mn that is equal or superior to Arjun Tanks I will seriously persuade govt. to buy. Where u got multi-billion dollar boon-doggle, from fox news?
@Muralidharan001 Since you have decided to adopt such a kindly tone, allow me to retort. If you want to operate a call center, or a slurpie machine, or sell tandori chicken, then I recommend an Indian Engineer. They are cheap, they are plentiful, and do good work, in their own way.
However, if want a tank, then avoid them. The quality of their work is lacking.
They do better when supervised by an Englishman. Old habits do die hard.
@Waltham1892 U ignorant it is considered as one of the best tanks in the world and costs 2.5mn USD less than leo2. It will not be surely an underdog against leo2. I agree they do better when supervised by an Englishman, in near future we will hire them to supervise manufacturing Job
Oh, I'm sorry. Have I upset you? You seem so willing to discuss race and now the subject seems to irritate you. Strange.
I don't know why India needs tanks at all. An Indian armored assault can easily be stopped by a well placed cow.
And yes, Indian tanks are cheap. Quality costs while sloppy work can be hand for pennies. I mean, a monkey chained to a drafting table can draw plans for a tank given 37 years, I wouldn't want to take it into battle though...
@Waltham1892 U coward u can't even mention ur race such a ill race? I dunno what made u think that I am racist finding buried racist words and posting you are real racist
I think you are racist because you brought up the issue of race as if it were relevant. Only the most primitive and backwards children categorize things by what color they are.
And speaking of primitive and backwards, its "you" and not "u".
If they didn't teach you that at your rural one room schoolhouse, consider yourself now educated.
@Waltham1892 that makes you more racist than me. you have spilled your racist thought that you had suppressed for years. In real I don't have such a thought
is this guy dreaming....arjun is arjunk go to wikipedia and see for yourself..please next time when you upload a video at least make the background music a bit better
fuck india this u will hear from every pakistani till his last breath forget about china pakistans nukes are for india and isreal and india and isreal only let me remind you fuck india fuck india till death fuck gandi and his mama fck nehru and his family and if anybody else from india wana bring it bring we aint singing we bringinging drama fuck india and their motherfking mama
stfu al qaeda, your failed state is gonna be squashed like a cockroach once india and america get fed up with your terrorism, barbarism and insanity. WW3 is coming bitch and Islam will be eradicated this century.
Pakistan is failed nation, Pakistan is past real threat is China and question is how to stop china to equipping Pakistan with missiles and nukes. And how to create enough threat to China to make them respect India.
not equal to SK they r not even equal to pakistan there missile tech is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind pak and this failure arjun is way pathatic tank than al khaild very well no offence to monkeys in india
If TATA can construct cheapest car and pass European standards, there is no reasons for DRDO to fail after digesting huge funds. Gov should act fast and put pressure on DRDO to come up with some success and make us proud of it.
Corporations have an incentive to produce high quality goods at lower costs in order to make money on their investments. Government labs don't have that incentive, since they pretty much get paid by the government regardless of results.
The report - compiled by the US Foreign Policy magazine and the US-based Fund for Peace think-tank - ranked 146 nations according to their viability. Judged according to 12 criteria, including human flight and economic decline, states range from the most failed, Sudan, to the least, Norway. Ranking(wikipedia) 1. Sudan (3)* 2. DR Congo (2)* 3. Arjun aswell as Tejas are dead animals, after spending 5500 Krore rupees of poor Indians on Tejas alone, there is no future of this plane in IAF fleet, because as stated by the hindu times that Tejas doesn't meet the IAF required standards while as Arjun is concern, search for yourself. Indian army has discarded the purchase of Arjun tank(your so called MBT) thats why they are going to buy T-90s serie from Russia
I have seen lot of Pokis here, i would also says that it is not their fault, it is their DNA which is at fault and now same is mutated into terrorist. All pokis are like that only
i cant say much about arjun but LCA has been a wonderful project and is touching new heights but nyways nevermind..i have a suggestion for you that take care of ur pakistan and its poor people coz we can very well manage our money and generate it as well but you have to beg to USA,Arab and IMF for it..harsh but true words...your coutry is bankrupt and living on Aids and Loans..but i think you should feed your people not your military which is already inefficient and corrupt.
I'm afraid mr.goindia that you're going to turn this technical matter into a political rivalry. Yes indeed its a good suggestion that we should take care of our Pakistan , however as well poverty in Pakistan is concern, you should mind that according to UN/World Bank and so and so on,India is the land of poor, more than 70% of its population living on less than a dollar.Generation after generations born on footpaths and die on footpaths..Search for yourself, write "Land of Prostitutes"

lol, more than 40% of indian live with less than one dollar a day according to UN, and half of india's kids under 5 are malnutrished which they can't have enough food.
but it does not seems so by looking at the last 4 wars we fought with you...world knows who has actually decided whose fate...Bangladesh(East Pakistan)...Pakistan(West Pakistan...so lets not forget the history and you should respect us
nyways we dont even know what computer u talking about which we use and if you are talking about supercomps then we dont use any american SC but we have our own stuff which we built.... but whcih part of pakistan you live
too good...as soon as we get the awacs, we should link all our jets (su30mki,tejas,mig29), tanks, UAVs, spy satellites to battle management system...RAW should come to play a major role in defence...we shouldnt anymore sit in the border and watch for intruders...Aerospace command will be more sophisticated solution for our armed forces...
how come you become judge so quickly, specially when you dont know much about Arjun tank...... you seems to jump on to the conclusion on supercruise speed....
the battle field management system was too good...does arjun have an active protection system...if not we shud buy trophy or shtora from israel or russia...its absolutely stupid that v bought T 90s without shtora...
yeah BMS is cool and next generation BMS will be even better it will give NCW capabilites to IA. Arjun is so strong that it does not need active protection at the front, as informed by DRDO. But we have seen what modern Anti tank weapons can do, therefore Trophy system was tested on Arjun tank. I love to see auto loder trophy on Arjun.
Shtora is good system which will work against some thing like Nag missile. Love to see that in Arjun MK-II.
im sure arjun mk 2 would be the advanced battle tank...i also heard a joint production with russia for the next gen battle tank is that true or india is just going to concentrate on arjun mk 2 right now...
Well the requirement of IA is 3800 tanks.... so more will be comming.....
BTW it appers taht you have not heard about hte Indian engine for the Arjun tank... it will be installed on the next order...
I too have searched Wiki and it said that Type 90 tanks of China are outdated therefore China has developed Type 98/99 for its Army... Al Khalid for your info is Type 90.
WOW!!! it is so state of art that China has chose to have Type 99 to be its MBT and not T 90 (now named Al Khalid) you stupid pakis are living in make belive world.. China has sold you product which they dont want... they have fooled you by selling worthless peace of metal.. which you called Al Khalid has it been good they would not chosen Type 99, which has high level of protection.
Well Pakistan has done justm paint job in the AL khalid and nothing more, why on earth i feel jealous of that tank ??? forget Arjun even single Nag will take out that Tin can named MBT 2000. But why named somthing which is Type 90 to MBT 2000....... It appers that you live in make belive world, get your self good doctor...... you need it.
Buddy, the MBT-2000 is faster, has more range, smarter, and more powerful than the Arjun tank that took over 25 years to develop. The MBT-2000 can fire DU rounds and can go underwater 5 meters. The Arjun can't.
And not to mention that a HJ-8, HJ-9, or HJ-10 missile (carried by the MBT-2000) can knock out ANY Indian armored vehicle.
I yet to see smart Al Khalid which can shoot stright. I checked up HJ-8 is wire guided.. those are obsoulete now, HJ9 does not mention anything about tank and HJ10 are helecopter version.
so non of your missiles are ment for tanks.
Where are you going to bring water in thar desart ??? where the Arjun tank will operate ??? BTW for making submarged tank is not that difficult.
if sino defence says that Al Khalid can fire HJ missile.... well i can also say that Arjun can fire Agni-3 (which is not true) it is Pak chini Propaganda.... do you have pic or video to support that ???
Arjun has run under 6 ft water for more than 20 mins. It has heat hardened electronics. It can climb high gradient slopes.Really Arjun is a tank which kept developing over the years. Its a tank which evolved from a basic to classic tank. Its Armour can take impact from the fire of T-72 at point blank range. Its the defence politicians who are conspiring with some top brass of the army!
Buddy, that is exactly what happened with the ARJUN, not the Al-Khalid. The Arjun missed, it can't even shoot in one right trajectory, and it failed the winter trials.
The video didn't show the target, and many sources prove that the Al-Khalid laser-guidance system is state-of-the-art.
Face it. The Al-Khalid is more advanced than the Arjun.
that video was released by pakistani army... had it hit the target they would have shown it.
check wiki it says type 90 tanks are outdated... that is why China went for Type 98/99 tanks...... i cant help if you love in fools world it is your privilage and i cannt help it...
oh is tht so? but why on earth would you want a dessert tank to stay under water??? Second thing DU aint required for Arjun; it has other weapon systems which can take care of that.
The MBT-2000 isn't just a desert tank. It is a fully multi-role armored combat vehicle. The DU round is currently the world's most powerful weapon, so the Al-Khalid tank can take out ANY Indian armored vehicle.
BESIDES the DU rounds, the MBT-2000 can also carry the HJ-8/HJ-9 (which is proved to be the world's best anti-tank missile), HEAT rounds, and MUCH MUCH more.
Al-khalid is the best tank in the world. It has a inbuilt jacuzzi, and hover mode(can travel at supersonic speeds over water). Its main gun is currently being upgraded by HIT taxila to fire electromagnetic propulsed DU sabots at over Mach 19. It is also being fitted with a new ionic engine that will enable orbital strikes from space.
Compared to this great technology MBT arjun is totally crap.
Hey man...the al khalid also has the 1000 Tera watt NOVA LASER that can cut through 5 meters of tank armour...i totally agree with u....with all these high tech weapons the al khalid is the best tank in the world
lol... i wonder why its not in the list of any best tank videos here in youtube
lol....you forgot to include the multi doppler photon cannon powered by the delithium ion phase generator. However, this would be irrelivant without the Mk 10 tacion targeting system able to reach targets intercontinentally...Regardless, sounds like the Arjun is a better tank :(
may be you need to search some more... what even may happen Arjun is made by India, ulike you we dont get tank from other and claim it to be home made.
BTW Arjun is made as per GSQR and it can operate in 50+ degrees temp.
oh ok u mean to say u take european stuff n western stuff n mash it into a hull made in india :D n u guys say its home made BUAHAHA
and btw do some searchin.. wiki pedia is the best i guess:) .. Al khalid is made purely in pakistan wid wester components n ukraine engine..
even arjun has a german engine.. n its all over indian media how a big faliure it is.. why ur militry just ordered 124 tanks instead of 500-700 estimated?? ...
350 Al-Khalid are under use n 250 are in production
not a geraman engine but a german gearbox(its something which is used for the power transmission from the engine)nyways i liked made in pakistan paint you put on T-90 to call it alkhalid
If Arjun is really good, why didn't Indian Army batch bought it? Government only wanna buy 124 Arjun for NATIONAL HONOR. To avoid being LAUGHED at.
Latest news said India got the permission to produce addtional 1000 T90s. Army said they wanna buy 1657 T90s. If ARJUN is good, why your government imports Russian tanks? Were they stupid?
%70 parts imported, 3.5 billion US$ R&D cost, spent 30 years (Leopard2 15 years/ US M1 15 years), uncountable flaws which make Arjun becomes a BIG MIRACLE.
Does it look like I care. It is not matter of judgment, it is practically common sense at the moment. 25 years at a prototype stage, still a mediocre tank.
In asia, lots of good tanks. T90, Japanese Type 90, Chinese Type 99, even MBT-2000 is much better than Arjun. Arjun even is ineligible to be rival of them.
WOW !!! you sure know the tanks, BTW have you seen any Arjun....... surely you dont....still you think it is ineligible... speaks volume's of your claim....
%70 parts imported, 3.5 billion US$ R&D cost, spent 30 years (Leopard2 15 years/ US M1 15 years), uncountable flaws which make Arjun becomes a MIRACLE.
holly shit u lucky man...u got to get close to ARJUN . man i envy u !!!!
and by way i would like to say that the only thing that keeps experts from rating arjun among top 3 tanks is that it is not battle tested..and all the delays and controversies around it. coz by modern standards the chally is too heavy and slow and so is the merkava .
Thanks, yeah i have seen Arjun from up close and personal, i was not allowed in side since it was production tank, but allowed to look from the top, it is practical tank, with so much protection that any tank commander will love to have it... only problem is that not many people in IA has seen Arjun.... those who have seen it most of them love it... others are with T series of Russia, since they offer paybacks... another problem with Arjun is its engine, which is only 1400 hp...
I think what we need is Arjun tank with 1800hp engine, which can withstand the harsh temprature of Rajasthan desart... with BMS and Trophy auto loader, it can take on any thing, which Paki and Chini come up with... Work on Arjun MK-II, has already been started... lets hope it will be complete in 5 years... BTW AFV Abhay will have BFSR (Radar) if the same can be incorporated in Arjun that will give great reach and capabilites...
Well if the Arjun tank is used on DG (Mechanised Forces)for target practice. Many people will be happy with it. BTW if the Russian send Arjun as T Series tank, DG (Mechanised Forces)will claim it is the world best tank.
It is only the DG (Mechanised Forces) which dont want it, reason Arjun dont give kick backs.
Completely agree with you. I am just surprised to read how corrupt officers in army and defense ministry have ordered for cooling systems to keep that stupid T90 tanks cool bcoz they overheated in Thar desert. What a shame! So does this mean its a dead end for Arjun going by Army statement!
Actually I came up on a video here and international security analysts have rated Arjun as the 9th best tank in world !
Well the new Arjun has some special features, thanks to Israeli's, which has given it some more capabilites. can discuss here but my heart break when i see what DGMF is doing. T90 is bad, T90S is even worse minus the Shtora-1.
well India my great nation needs to take a stand and actively involve Israel for this tank. May be we can talk to them and offer them to market it - ( they are no saint, i know ) but that would break down the lobby of that stupid cheap T90 , its like our own machine fighitng our own machine ( i mean fighting paki T80 or similar from Ukraine and that Cheap Chinka import who have copied T90) we need an edge over them. I think ARJUN is better , time for new strategic partnerships. Give it to ISRAEL
why do i see similarities in ARJUN & LEOPARD ??? Is it a rip off of the later tank ?

Arjun is not the best but a better tank. all the problems pertaining to Arjun has now been solved. Muzzle, Guns, Temperature issues have been resolved. now it is equipped with Most Modern and lethal weapon system with all weather firing capability. the main cause of concern is its weight as it weighs 58 Tonns. cant be carried on a Flat bed Railway coach. but its a good piece to buy.

We did? this using our own Rocket tech ( PSLV ) unlike ur country buying chinees rockets. We dont beg for Aid from US as ur country does, ur country is on the 10th Position of Failed nations list.

The Indian Ballistic Missile Defense Program is an initiative to develop and deploy a multi-layered Ballistic missile defense system to protect India? from missile attacks. Introduced in light of the ballistic missile threat from Pakistan, it is a two tiered system, namely the Prithvi Air Defence (PAD) missile for high altitude interception, and the Advanced Air Defence (AAD) Missile for lower altitude interception, able to intercept missile launched 5,000 kilometers away,(wikipedia).
sonu9180 2 years ago
India has PAD (Prithvi air defence, Tested Successfully) Its a Missile Shield against rogue Countries like Pakistan.
India now has -
Prithivi, Agni(5000 KM), Shaurya, Nag, Brahmos (Hypersonic Cruise Missile), Spyder ( Python 5 & Derbi Rockets) Akash, Lakshya Missile System. From force magazine, Comperatively trial of Arjun tank, T 90 and T 72 has taken place and Arjun has performed relatively satisfactory, IA will order 250 of these and 250 of Arjun MK-II
sayareakd 2 years ago 3
As a tanker, I would be thrilled to trust my life to a "relatively satisfactory" tank. The Indian Army and government have poured billions into the Arjun. Backing out now would be admitting they wasted it...
Waltham1892 2 years ago
I've never understood India's insistence on developing its own weapon systems. If India had gone with the Leo, or even the T-90, it would have saved billions and fielded the tank years sooner. Now they have a weapons system of which they are only going to do a small run which will jack up the unit cost. And, the tank theyve got is inferior to its contemporaries
Waltham1892 2 years ago
care to explain what is inferior in Arjun tank ??
sayareakd 2 years ago 2
Results of 2007 army trials of the Arjun revealed, and I quote:
"The army was extremely unhappy with the tank, citing 14 defects that included "deficient fire control system", "inaccuracy of its guns", "low speeds in tactical areas" and "inability to operate over 50 degrees Celsius".
The article also pointed out that the Arjun is 16 years late in being fielded. Again, the Indians would have been better off with the Leo 2.

@Waltham1892 they probrably want to create some form of local market for their tanks or they probrably want to make a name for themselves. @Waltham1892 : See one very important reason for developing our own technology is that then we can ensure we have as many as we want when we want them.... Also when we buy many adavanced technologies are denied to us and also in conflict times getting spares gets very difficult... which is a very serious problem that India has faced again and again w.r.t many Russian equipments, over a 100 Bofors guns are out commission cos of lack of spares...
dreamermanu 1 year ago
@dreamermanu There are a great many advantages to developing your own technology... It makes our country more capable of taking a stand with out having to rely on any other nation for protection..... and as for cost eventually as we become more and more adept in developing our own equipment costs will come down.... you cant expect anyone to get everything right the first time.
dreamermanu 1 year ago
I see you point. However, the trade off is that by building only a small batch of tanks for domestic use, you are not going to build up a industrial base that is going to be able to surge production of tanks or spare parts in an emergency. To make matters even worse, the tank you are building probably isn't worth building...
Waltham1892 1 year ago
@Waltham1892 : In the tank world 500 Tanks is not a small number its pretty large... that when combined with the fact that many more of these Arjun Chasis will be used to create Engineering Vehicles and Bridge Layers the number becomes even larger.... Also its not just a case of Industrial back base but also Scientific base... remember the first tanks U.S. made were crap and were no use against the german compatriots... only later during the war did they evolve to match the german tanks.
dreamermanu 1 year ago
When you look at the production runs for the M-1 and Leo family of tanks, 500 tanks is not that impressive. England made 850 Challanger II's and the French made 800 LeClerc's. Also, the resources India has spent developing an industrial base to produce an inferior tank could probably have been better spent elsewhere. This seems doubly true as India does not seem to need, or be able to maintian, a large armored corps.
Waltham1892 1 year ago
The T-90 deal that followed the failure of Arjun was huge multi billion dollar one.... Its highly likely that the failure of the arjun just at the right time helped a lot of people become very rich... Its just a unfortunate reality of India... There are plenty of evidence of corrupt defence deals in Indian history... this will neither be the first or the last
dreamermanu 1 year ago
@dreamermanu Corruption certainly may be a factor, but the Arjun's cooling issues with main gun accuracy, weight, width, and engine reliability were certainly keeping the tank out of both production and service. I'd guess that as many people were making money pushing the Arjun through development as were by leasing T-90's.

The Arjun is the example at hand, but there has also been the Mukut and LCS fighters...India would have been better off buying what it needed...

dreamermanu 1 year ago
@Waltham1892 India has already indigenously developed its 2 tiered own ballistic missile system... something English do not have... we launched our first nuclear submarine last year and it is currently undergoing sea trials.... We've jointly developed & deployed d fastest cruise missile in d world... we've one of d most reliable launch vehicles in the market the PSLV. We are the only country other than U.S. to have an aircraft with thrust vectoring engine currently deployed d SU-30 MKI
dreamermanu 1 year ago
How nice for India. However, most of those technologies are not indigenous and were either jointly developed or purchased out right.
This undercuts your argument about Indian's drive for a military industrial base doesn’t it?
Now, there is nothing wrong with buying equipment rather than going the long way around to develop your own. The US as an example; the 105mm gun on the M-1 was English, the 120mm on the M-1A1 is German. The AV-8 is an Americanized BAE Harrier…
Waltham1892 1 year ago
@Waltham1892 I never said that v shud not collaborate, Even out right purchase is ok as long as there is technology transfer and India based production for e.g. the T-90 tanks most are being made in India... But I do take exception to your argument that we should not try because according to you we are not capable of creating advanced technology and by the way. Even arjun tank is actually a collaborative effort the Fire control and Engine e.t.c which u said r not gud are actually of foreign make
dreamermanu 1 year ago
You are missing my point: India does not lake for intelligence, engineering acumen, or the ability to innovate.
What India lacks is a production history in a very specialized, very expensive, area of endeavor. Specifically, developing advanced weapons systems.
Given the cost/benefit ratio of developing that production history, it is my informed military opinion that it’s better of buying.
Is that clear, or would you like to call me racist some more?
Waltham1892 1 year ago
@Waltham1892 You are very right sir but my point is that there are greater tactical concerns at play wen v think of such things...In an ideal world v cud eliminate weapons all together but in a world where allegiances change & trade embargo's r levied India cant afford 2 take chances wit its security. India lacked capability in all fields after colonial occupation to quote Nehru our first prime minister... We cud'nt even manufacture a safety pin... We've come a lng way but not lng enuf
dreamermanu 1 year ago
@Waltham1892 If Nehru thought like u... v wud not have nuclear weapons, we would not have sent a probe to the moon, v wud not have spy satellites... v wud be reliant on other for everything not just defence equipment.
U've to admit some of ur comments r without logic I quote "India does not need, or can maintain a large armour corp" considering we've 1 of d largest armour corp that seems a bit ill informed to the say the least... To top tht off ur comment on chinese armor
dreamermanu 1 year ago
@Waltham1892 The chinese have d 3rd largest armour corps in d world and u say they don't know what they r doing please explain that one to me cos it just does'nt make any sense... Can u blame me for sayin its racists if its not racists then what is it... may be as a English soldier u r blinded by pride... I don't know either way its ur statements tht speak of racism not me.
dreamermanu 1 year ago
@Waltham1892 Second Lets be honest neither of us can categorically say whether the Arjun Tank is usefull or useless... There are many countervailing arguments laid out both in favour and against....
And after comparative trials with T-90 in 2010 the IA ordered more so one can only guess what ever initial hiccups were there have been overcome. Unfortunately 1 thing to remember abt India is tht there is lot of corruption so DRDO's complaint abt sabotage cannot be ruled out.
dreamermanu 1 year ago
I was an Amor Officer so I think my opinion of the Arjun is is an educated one. I don't believe that the Arjun is usless, but it is not as capable as other tanks which were readily avalible during the course of its development. As someone familiar with the logistics of fielding tanks, I can also say that it is more likely than not that the Indians will have difficulty keeping the Arjun fielded if hostilities last more than a few weeks, and little to no way of making good on loses.
Waltham1892 1 year ago
@Waltham1892
self reliance is always good, plus its good for the economy
Tomahawk1999 1 year ago
@Tomahawk1999 Yes, and no. India does not need a large number of tanks and its unlikely to be an exporter of tanks given the jump the Germans and Russians have on them (US tanks are to expensive to buy or maintain for most nations). So, what India gains in self reliance in armor it will lose in building a specialized industrial base for a product that it will only build in small numbers and not export.

@Waltham1892 Experience. Gives continuous and up to date research platform to scientist
Muralidharan001 9 months ago
@Muralidharan001 I think India could have gotten that without the cost of development and a small production run. It could have reverse engineered an existing design or build one under licence...I think this was about ego and not armor.
Waltham1892 9 months ago
@Waltham1892 Hey man its not ego. Industries need experience for building tanks.Reverse Engineering doesn't give advanced outlook on mechanism, developing and manipulating makes progress and eventually will lead to superior indigenous build in future. Its not design corruption in govt. factories make them inferior. I think you are under estimating Indian scientist and engineers. Intel, microsoft etc. have 1/3 Indian engineers. Even F-22 raptor development team had many Indian Engineers
Muralidharan001 9 months ago
@Muralidharan001 I've never heard that 1/3 of American egineers are Indian and I don't think it matters if they were.
That you bring it up, again, makes me think this is about nationalism and not the practical aspects of equiping an army.
Indian pride may be served by a 25 year development cycle for a tank design which, due to its age, is inferior to what could be purchased. However, I don't think the folks who have to pay for the tank, or operate it, are so well served.
Waltham1892 9 months ago
@Waltham1892 I didn't say 1/3 of engineers in america are Indians. Many major research and tech companies In US have 1/3 engineers as Indians even Nasa has Significant amount. Well we can take pride at least we entered the list of countries that can make tank. You still didn't get my point how can India can develop advanced tank itself in future without developing something before. so you say we have to depend on all the time on foreign tanks and buy them.
Muralidharan001 9 months ago
"I think you are under estimating Indian scientist and engineers. Intel, microsoft etc. have 1/3 Indian engineers"
The above is a quote from you. So, you did say it as incorrect as it might be.
So India has developed its first tank after a quarter century of development, billions of dollars, and its not as good as an off the shelf tank the Indians might have bought.
This is more of a cautionary tale on how not to aquire equipment than a prescription on how to.
Waltham1892 9 months ago
@Waltham1892 something seriously wrong with your understanding ability. Its 37 years delay is common in our country coz India is a socialist democratic country with inefficient political system. It was designed long before but govt shelved it coz no factories at that time to produce it. but DRDO kept updating it finally agreed to produce it in 1996 and Army inducted it in 2011. Billions of dollars imao it should be millions of dollars we invested only 4 billion in FGFA(PAK FA) program itself.
Muralidharan001 9 months ago
@Muralidharan001 If a 37 year long delay is common in India, then I'd say the probem is not my "understanding ability" but your country.
A 37 year delay is the difference is the difference between cutting edge and obsolete.
If you are going to wait 37 years to field a tank you might as well buy Pakistan's surplus equipment.
Waltham1892 9 months ago
@Waltham1892 Its not inferior to leopard2 tanks design wise but manufacturing at govt factory made it so. Initial batch tanks had some problems using this opportunity army officials rejected it in order to receive their cuts from Russian manufacture. The fixed late batch tank performed nearly equal to bhishma( upgraded T90s) and costs 40% less that t90s
Muralidharan001 9 months ago
Guy, since the Germans have updated the Leo2 three times while the Arjun was in development, and the Arjun was not exactly a well developed project to being with, how could the Leo2 be inferior?
The Leo has been in constant developement since the Leo1, it is THE standard tank for those not using Russian designs.
I can understand national pride, but as a tanker I know national pride does not turn a sow's ear into a silk purse.
The Arjun is a multi-billion dollar boon-doggle.
Waltham1892 9 months ago
@Waltham1892 I guess u could be less English literate Chinese or less IQ African. not inferior to leo2 = superior to leo2? that too I said in design. Arjun tanks got upgrade to MK-II version. Progam cost is $112 mn and unit cost $3.8 mn if u sell some tank at $3.5mn that is equal or superior to Arjun Tanks I will seriously persuade govt. to buy. Where u got multi-billion dollar boon-doggle, from fox news?
Muralidharan001 9 months ago
@Muralidharan001 Since you have decided to adopt such a kindly tone, allow me to retort. If you want to operate a call center, or a slurpie machine, or sell tandori chicken, then I recommend an Indian Engineer. They are cheap, they are plentiful, and do good work, in their own way.
However, if want a tank, then avoid them. The quality of their work is lacking.
They do better when supervised by an Englishman. Old habits do die hard.
Waltham1892 9 months ago
@Waltham1892 U ignorant it is considered as one of the best tanks in the world and costs 2.5mn USD less than leo2. It will not be surely an underdog against leo2. I agree they do better when supervised by an Englishman, in near future we will hire them to supervise manufacturing Job
Muralidharan001 9 months ago
Oh, I'm sorry. Have I upset you? You seem so willing to discuss race and now the subject seems to irritate you. Strange.
I don't know why India needs tanks at all. An Indian armored assault can easily be stopped by a well placed cow.
And yes, Indian tanks are cheap. Quality costs while sloppy work can be hand for pennies. I mean, a monkey chained to a drafting table can draw plans for a tank given 37 years, I wouldn't want to take it into battle though...

Indian army has discarded the purchase of Arjun tank(your so called MBT) thats why they are going to buy T-90s serie from Russia

i cant say much about arjun but LCA has been a wonderful project and is touching new heights but nyways nevermind..i have a suggestion for you that take care of ur pakistan and its poor people coz we can very well manage our money and generate it as well but you have to beg to USA,Arab and IMF for it..harsh but true words...your coutry is bankrupt and living on Aids and Loans..but i think you should feed your people not your military which is already inefficient and corrupt.
greatgoindia2020 3 years ago
I'm afraid mr.goindia that you're going to turn this technical matter into a political rivalry. Yes indeed its a good suggestion that we should take care of our Pakistan , however as well poverty in Pakistan is concern, you should mind that according to UN/World Bank and so and so on,India is the land of poor, more than 70% of its population living on less than a dollar.Generation after generations born on footpaths and die on footpaths..Search for yourself, write "Land of Prostitutes"

only 23% of indian population is under poverty You ass. And it's getting better every year. by 2020, it will be about 5% or less. go look at facts.

lol, more than 40% of indian live with less than one dollar a day according to UN, and half of india's kids under 5 are malnutrished which they can't have enough food.

too good...as soon as we get the awacs, we should link all our jets (su30mki,tejas,mig29), tanks, UAVs, spy satellites to battle management system...RAW should come to play a major role in defence...we shouldnt anymore sit in the border and watch for intruders...Aerospace command will be more sophisticated solution for our armed forces...

This comment has received too many negative votes show
It is not only a copy of German Leo2a1 tank.
It more or less a failed copy of T72.
Two third of the component are interchangeable with T72.
The base uses T72 base, the tower is German leo2a1, and engine is German made 1400HP engine (because Indian made 1200HP engine would work properly).
Electronics are imported from US and EU.
What conclusion we got?
India really is a multicultural country
India army dont want to use it themselves., because it is too unreliable.
search google
starboy991 3 years ago
how come you become judge so quickly, specially when you dont know much about Arjun tank...... you seems to jump on to the conclusion on supercruise speed....
Arjun is not even close to T 72 tank....
sayareakd 3 years ago
the battle field management system was too good...does arjun have an active protection system...if not we shud buy trophy or shtora from israel or russia...its absolutely stupid that v bought T 90s without shtora...
selaloy 3 years ago 4
yeah BMS is cool and next generation BMS will be even better it will give NCW capabilites to IA.
At present IA (DGMF) are manned by fools.
sayareakd 3 years ago
im sure arjun mk 2 would be the advanced battle tank...i also heard a joint production with russia for the next gen battle tank is that true or india is just going to concentrate on arjun mk 2 right now...

Al Khalid for your info is Type 90.
sayareakd 3 years ago
i just searched about the Arjun tank..
the USA guys call it Arjunk !!
and i read in indian defence website tat after 20 years of development it still has 4 major flaws it cant even operate in temp of 50degrees
eddyvohra 3 years ago 2
A TRUE state-of-the-art tank is the Al-Khalid!!
segregator236 3 years ago
Yes Al-khalid is indeed one master piece of Pakistani n Chinese army
eddyvohra 3 years ago
WOW!!! it is so state of art that China has chose to have Type 99 to be its MBT and not T 90 (now named Al Khalid) you stupid pakis are living in make belive world.. China has sold you product which they dont want... they have fooled you by selling worthless peace of metal.. which you called Al Khalid has it been good they would not chosen Type 99, which has high level of protection.
sayareakd 3 years ago
as i said before WIKIPEDIA is the best for u..
Al-khalid has the best wieght to power ratio
and arjun is mentioned arjunk in US defence websites
eddyvohra 3 years ago
if you are happy with US defence website which has not seen Arjun, then so be it... i cannot take away the privilage of thinking that way.........

sayareakd, the MBT-2000 was developed by Pakistan AND China.
Shut up and stop being jealous, sayareakd.
segregator236 3 years ago
Well Pakistan has done justm paint job in the AL khalid and nothing more, why on earth i feel jealous of that tank ??? forget Arjun even single Nag will take out that Tin can named MBT 2000. But why named somthing which is Type 90 to MBT 2000....... It appers that you live in make belive world, get your self good doctor...... you need it.
sayareakd 3 years ago
Buddy, the MBT-2000 is faster, has more range, smarter, and more powerful than the Arjun tank that took over 25 years to develop. The MBT-2000 can fire DU rounds and can go underwater 5 meters. The Arjun can't.
And not to mention that a HJ-8, HJ-9, or HJ-10 missile (carried by the MBT-2000) can knock out ANY Indian armored vehicle.
segregator236 3 years ago
I yet to see smart Al Khalid which can shoot stright. I checked up HJ-8 is wire guided.. those are obsoulete now, HJ9 does not mention anything about tank and HJ10 are helecopter version.
so non of your missiles are ment for tanks.
Where are you going to bring water in thar desart ??? where the Arjun tank will operate ??? BTW for making submarged tank is not that difficult.
next time before posting gets your facts right.
All the Pakis live in make believe dream world.
sayareakd 3 years ago
Buddy, go to sinodefence . com and search up for yourself. The Al-Khalid can fire HJ missiles, Uranium shots, HEAT grenades, and MUCH MUCH MORE.
Where are YOU going to get water in the desert? Wait - the Arjun can't even operate over 50 degrees! THE ARJUN CAN'T EVEN OPERATE IN DESERTS!!
DREAM ON, cuz we will never listen to your fake propaganda.
segregator236 3 years ago
if sino defence says that Al Khalid can fire HJ missile.... well i can also say that Arjun can fire Agni-3 (which is not true) it is Pak chini Propaganda.... do you have pic or video to support that ???
Arjun can operate in 50 degrees.....
sayareakd 3 years ago
Well, do you have video or photo to prove that the Arjun isn't made out of tin? THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK.
Just because India uses a stockpile of propaganda doesn't mean its neighbor acts the same way.
segregator236 3 years ago
Arjun has run under 6 ft water for more than 20 mins. It has heat hardened electronics. It can climb high gradient slopes.Really Arjun is a tank which kept developing over the years. Its a tank which evolved from a basic to classic tank. Its Armour can take impact from the fire of T-72 at point blank range. Its the defence politicians who are conspiring with some top brass of the army!
saikiran1711 3 years ago
Buddy, 6 feet is only 1.8 meters! The MBT-2000 is able to stay more than 5 meters underwater for LIMITLESS TIME.
The Arjun tank has some electronics, but none that can match the MBT-2000's electronics.
The Arjun can't fire DU rounds. The MBT-2000 can.
The Arjun tank has been under close evaluation by the Indian Army, because the deal with the T-90S "Bhishma" seems much more sensible.
AND, China has recently designed and built a NEWER and MORE ADVANCED version of the MBT-2000.
segregator236 3 years ago
Yes, eddyvohra, the Al-Khalid is one of the BEST in the WORLD.
segregator236 3 years ago
i saw the video and it failed to hit the target. It cannt even shoot stright...
sayareakd 3 years ago
Buddy, that is exactly what happened with the ARJUN, not the Al-Khalid. The Arjun missed, it can't even shoot in one right trajectory, and it failed the winter trials.
The video didn't show the target, and many sources prove that the Al-Khalid laser-guidance system is state-of-the-art.
Face it. The Al-Khalid is more advanced than the Arjun.
segregator236 3 years ago
that video was released by pakistani army... had it hit the target they would have shown it.
check wiki it says type 90 tanks are outdated... that is why China went for Type 98/99 tanks...... i cant help if you love in fools world it is your privilage and i cannt help it...
sayareakd 3 years ago
In fact, they DID show the target being obliterated. If you noticed, the stone target was reduced to DUST.
China, in fact, still produces the MBT-2000. It is produced under the name "Type 90-IIM".
segregator236 3 years ago
oh is tht so? but why on earth would you want a dessert tank to stay under water??? Second thing DU aint required for Arjun; it has other weapon systems which can take care of that.
saikiran1711 3 years ago
The MBT-2000 isn't just a desert tank. It is a fully multi-role armored combat vehicle. The DU round is currently the world's most powerful weapon, so the Al-Khalid tank can take out ANY Indian armored vehicle.
BESIDES the DU rounds, the MBT-2000 can also carry the HJ-8/HJ-9 (which is proved to be the world's best anti-tank missile), HEAT rounds, and MUCH MUCH more.
segregator236 3 years ago
Al-khalid is the best tank in the world. It has a inbuilt jacuzzi, and hover mode(can travel at supersonic speeds over water). Its main gun is currently being upgraded by HIT taxila to fire electromagnetic propulsed DU sabots at over Mach 19. It is also being fitted with a new ionic engine that will enable orbital strikes from space.
Compared to this great technology MBT arjun is totally crap.
dredger14 3 years ago
Buddy, first of all, DU rounds fly FASTER than Mach 1.9
Second of all, let's get real here.
segregator236 3 years ago
Hey man...the al khalid also has the 1000 Tera watt NOVA LASER that can cut through 5 meters of tank armour...i totally agree with u....with all these high tech weapons the al khalid is the best tank in the world
lol... i wonder why its not in the list of any best tank videos here in youtube
ebincelos 3 years ago
If you totally analyze the capabilites of the MBT-2000, you will find that it is actually the world's SECOND BEST TANK.
The reason the MBT-2000 isn't on the "best tank videos" is because not a lot of people even know the Al-Khalid.
segregator236 3 years ago
lol....you forgot to include the multi doppler photon cannon powered by the delithium ion phase generator. However, this would be irrelivant without the Mk 10 tacion targeting system able to reach targets intercontinentally...Regardless, sounds like the Arjun is a better tank :(
woodss3 3 years ago
Buddy. FACE IT. After 30 years of development, even the Americans call the Arjun the "ARJUNK".
segregator236 3 years ago
may be you need to search some more... what even may happen Arjun is made by India, ulike you we dont get tank from other and claim it to be home made.
BTW Arjun is made as per GSQR and it can operate in 50+ degrees temp.
sayareakd 3 years ago
oh ok u mean to say u take european stuff n western stuff n mash it into a hull made in india :D n u guys say its home made BUAHAHA
and btw do some searchin.. wiki pedia is the best i guess:) .. Al khalid is made purely in pakistan wid wester components n ukraine engine..
even arjun has a german engine.. n its all over indian media how a big faliure it is.. why ur militry just ordered 124 tanks instead of 500-700 estimated?? ...
350 Al-Khalid are under use n 250 are in production
eddyvohra 3 years ago
not a geraman engine but a german gearbox(its something which is used for the power transmission from the engine)nyways i liked made in pakistan paint you put on T-90 to call it alkhalid

%70 parts imported, 3.5 billion US$ R&D cost, spent 30 years (Leopard2 15 years/ US M1 15 years), uncountable flaws which make Arjun becomes a BIG MIRACLE.
heroxk2 3 years ago

thanks for the judgment, non one has asked for your judgment here.......
sayareakd 3 years ago
Does it look like I care. It is not matter of judgment, it is practically common sense at the moment. 25 years at a prototype stage, still a mediocre tank.
anwarma 3 years ago
if you dont care why waste my time.... i am sure you have lost of common sense, so please, do use it, you need it...... thanks.

In asia, lots of good tanks. T90, Japanese Type 90, Chinese Type 99, even MBT-2000 is much better than Arjun. Arjun even is ineligible to be rival of them.
PASS the TEST first!!!!!!!!!
heroxk2 3 years ago 2
WOW !!! you sure know the tanks, BTW have you seen any Arjun....... surely you dont....still you think it is ineligible... speaks volume's of your claim....

holly shit u lucky man...u got to get close to ARJUN . man i envy u !!!!
and by way i would like to say that the only thing that keeps experts from rating arjun among top 3 tanks is that it is not battle tested..and all the delays and controversies around it. coz by modern standards the chally is too heavy and slow and so is the merkava .
kelaskar6 3 years ago
Thanks, yeah i have seen Arjun from up close and personal, i was not allowed in side since it was production tank, but allowed to look from the top, it is practical tank, with so much protection that any tank commander will love to have it... only problem is that not many people in IA has seen Arjun.... those who have seen it most of them love it... others are with T series of Russia, since they offer paybacks... another problem with Arjun is its engine, which is only 1400 hp...
sayareakd 3 years ago
I think what we need is Arjun tank with 1800hp engine, which can withstand the harsh temprature of Rajasthan desart... with BMS and Trophy auto loader, it can take on any thing, which Paki and Chini come up with... Work on Arjun MK-II, has already been started... lets hope it will be complete in 5 years... BTW AFV Abhay will have BFSR (Radar) if the same can be incorporated in Arjun that will give great reach and capabilites...
sayareakd 3 years ago
any comments about the army's denial to use it in service as of July 6 2008.
cheers
xeta757 3 years ago
Well if the Arjun tank is used on DG (Mechanised Forces)for target practice. Many people will be happy with it. BTW if the Russian send Arjun as T Series tank, DG (Mechanised Forces)will claim it is the world best tank.
It is only the DG (Mechanised Forces) which dont want it, reason Arjun dont give kick backs.
sayareakd 3 years ago
Completely agree with you. I am just surprised to read how corrupt officers in army and defense ministry have ordered for cooling systems to keep that stupid T90 tanks cool bcoz they overheated in Thar desert. What a shame! So does this mean its a dead end for Arjun going by Army statement!
Actually I came up on a video here and international security analysts have rated Arjun as the 9th best tank in world !
xeta757 3 years ago
Well the new Arjun has some special features, thanks to Israeli's, which has given it some more capabilites. can discuss here but my heart break when i see what DGMF is doing. T90 is bad, T90S is even worse minus the Shtora-1.
sayareakd 3 years ago
well India my great nation needs to take a stand and actively involve Israel for this tank.
