My friends and I did something like this once. We had a little better, or at least more to the scene of Terra, terrain and ALOT more miniatures. Plus we even made custom units for the Primarchs and the Emperor. It was every definition of epic. I hope this was fun for you guys too.

sadly, you do not have the right armor for the horus heresy, nor the right equipment, or vehicles. And the traitors were not yet chaos space marines. only some of them were totally corrupted physically and even then they had older armor and weapons.

ultramarines were no there during the battle for terra because their a bunch of pansies. blood angels were not there also, i think. not sure about blood angels. ultra marines fled though. nontheless, EPIC BATTLE! I assume.

Blood angels were there as their primarch ((along with the Imperial Fist's primarch)) boarded Horus's flagship with the emperor but got seperated because of Chaos. Sanguinis ((of the blood angels)) reached Horus first but was killed right before the emperor arrived. Dorn ((of the imperial fists)) arrived to see Horus dead and the Emperor pretty much dead.

I love the terrain you have there, it is awesome, the scale of the battle is well, apocalyptic!

Others noted some fluff notes, but I will also chime in that the Thousand Sons were not at the battle of Terra, as the Space Wolves were sent to bring Magnus back in chains, but Horus persuaded the Wolves to kill him instead.

The traitors would have the better marks of armor than the loyalists since Horus was directing where the armor roll outs would go, specifically to favored legions.

True on the 'Sons and Space Wolves, we were going to have those guys fight it out on a linked board for the battle of Prospero with a few custodes throwin in, but then it would be like playing their own little game and not in the big battle. An extra twist had the Dark Angels turning bad and joining Horus.

Very good point, also, i would like to point out that the Ultramarines were not at the battle for Terra either. They were on some distant planet unable to return in time to assist in the battle. It said so in all of the Space Marine Codex's. The Primarch of the Imperial Fist called them Traitors for not fighting and refused to break his legion up, which almost created a 2nd civil war.

Things you'll need:

1. The rulebook (make sure you get 5'th edition)

2. A Codex for your army (Imperial Guard)

3. Some models and a lot of spare time.

4. If you want to play huge battles like this, you'll need the Apocalypse rules supplement

You can get these at any hobby store, on Ebay, or at Games Workshop's official website.

Collect the army that has the models you like the best and for the background. Forget which army is stronger, better, etc. All are effective when used correctly with tactics.
