There's no comparison between Jennifer Holiday and the Hudson girl. The DIVA is Holiday not Hudson. I heard Holiday sing in the early 80s. It left me weak at the knees. Hudson doesn't even come close in voicing. As for the size of the ladies, so they aren't bulimic, big deal. And Holiday looking 'better' today than in 1982, that's just your current perspective. Shoulder pads were 'in fashion' in 82, they are out of fashion now. You can't compare the fashion from then to now. Different times.

That ugh sound she makes at the end of every note, is not part of emoting, and sounds annoying - it takes away from the great notes that she does sing. It's a singer's affectation that really detracts from the beautiful voice she has. I don't know if it's a Tina Turner thing or what, but because of that, I think Bianca Ryan's version IS better, not just because it's unbelievable that she sings like that at age 11, but because she SINGS the song, makes the notes beautiful even when emoting.
