People have to remember that horses do run in the wild, and yes, almost right after birth (both mom and babies) It's nature. It's just fortunate that we get to witness such miracles in our backyard.
I go to wickenburg twice a year! haha. We have a Egemo Arabians ranch out side of town that we switch a horse to in the winter! The other one we have is up in Iowa,
A piebald is an animal, such as a horse or ball python, that has a spotting pattern of large unpigmented (sometimes expressed as white) areas and normally pigmented patches.
We have stable horses and we ride our bred mares all the time. we give them time off right before the foal is born and are riding them a week later. with NO problems! (all different breeds)
@ncosmany the horse isnt lame. She just stumbles a few times. I used to ride a horse named Chewy and he is soooo clumsy. He would trip of stumble, get his balance and keep going. He would limp for a few seconds cause he was emabrrased that he tripped or that he got something in his foot. A couple times that happened, it was usually a stone. Once we got it out, completely fine.
to me she looks like she is very tired my horse used to trip like that when he was being an ass hole but he was trired as i worked him hard but sher may still be tired from having TWO children i would be if i had to kids in one go lmfao poor girl tho
She may be mildly lame, but its not bad and she's being ridden in sand, not rocks. Plus, foals can run around on uneven ground a few hours after birth. This is an ARENA. It's not hurting the mare or foals. Its not like he had her full out galloping and dripping sweat or ripping around barrels or anything.
ya lay off people its good for her and id love it if i wer her to get out and ride with my kids so back off got it and he sead she wasent ridden for 4 months so most likly shes guna trip and do funny thaings drrrr
the guy cant ride worth a shit the poor mare is lame and hurting and probably hormonal and how in hells name do they think it's safe for them foals to be running about the way they are on ground like that when they clearly are not that old!!! Not to mention if they wanted to run they would without the mare needing to be ridden to get them to run people like this make me sick!!!!!!!!!!
If you had common sense,Shokara you would see that she's lame, and she's tripping. That looked not very long after birth.Everyone that thinks its O.K for her to be ridden after birth, put yourself in her shoes would you like to be raddin about 1 week after birth (it looks like to me).Not so fun huh?Look closely you can see her trip.
She realy looks lam to me,Bobing the head. And realy outa shape. And the riding her rit after babys isent going to kill her, maybe stress the babys out(witch is not healthy) I just wouldent ever do it to my horses, Never Ever.. Anyway there guys they no nothing about giving birth, or how inportent this time is with her babys. Sounds like he's trying to sell her anyway, So the point is taken(she can be riden)
And a mare can be rode after foaling, I'd probably wait a month or so if she was mine (and it's better if the mare was in riding condition before foaling, better shape).
Very cute foals! I'd love to see an updated video!
The mare is lame, assuming this was the only riding (for the video) that was done, she'll probably be ok. Hopefully she was given a chance to recover before anymore riding (and for whoever wanted to know, the limping is a sure sign she's lame, and if you can't see it I hope you don't own a horse).
you can too ride a horse that has a foal... its not going to do anything! we have been doing it as long as we have been breeding, not once has anything happened.... look it up.
you can ride them. Not hard though. My vet said *LIGHT* work is ok, the foal actually BENEFITS from being around the mother being worked, they LEARN from it.
I think if wild mares can handle galloping away from predators right after giving birth, this mare can handle what she's doing. If she were in pain or anything like that, she'd let her rider know.
oh get over yourselves she's not sore, she looked fine to me. She stumbled a few times that's all. My horses stumble sometimes, it's no big deal, you don't go lay up in bed a week when you stumble on your toes do you?
My mare was 21 when she foaled and she was out from month 3 of pregnancy through the time my colt was 3 mths old, Only because I didn't want to cause any stress on her being 21 and only her 2nd foal, the first being like 13 years earlier.
I agree I didnt ride my mare after foaling for 6months. I also worked her for a solid month in the round pen before just bringing her from paster and loping her. I also here the man in the video clearly state she has been in pasture for 4yrs Its obviouse she is sore and out of shape.
the mare isnt sore. she's just a but clumsy and unfit, probably been outta work for a long time and is just finding her feet. but not sore. silly people on here cant tell the difference...
I don't know how you can determine a lame or footsore horse from a video. She trips roughly 3 or 4 times the entire video, and shows no other signs of being lame, she doesnt refuse to run and she doesnt show signs of pain. I would say more likely her feet need a little trim in the front so she doesnt trip over the tips, or, she may not pick up her feet high enough through the arena sand. not saying its impossible for her to be lame, just saying, much more likely she needs a trim.
this is cute but same as the rest of the comment the mare is footsore and this might be stressing out the mother and foals been ridden and made to follow her even tho they ain't showing .... bad idea
Why are they forcing this obviously very lame mare to run around undersaddle.... This is just making me ill to watch. Yes they are lovely foals. And to have surviving twins is brilliant. Congrates to those involved. But why work such an obviously lame horse.... I would never put one of my horses through this if I knew she was so lame just to show off the fact she can birth living twins.... Sick people... Really F**King Sick.
Lovely to see surviving twins. Not sure why the mare is being ridden like this with such little babies at foot, especially when she is obviously quite lame/foot sore :o(
The mare does look lame.

It is not paint ball. It is pie ball. And the foal isn't even that type of coat.

@dothedew1989 The main reason horses trip or sumble is because their toes are too long and they are not being trimmed properly.
thehappyhoof 1 year ago
@thehappyhoof or the horse could be clumsy. I have a appy gelding whose feet are perfectly trimmed and he still trips
