that works pretty good. a friend of mine and me have installed it on a netbook in shopping-centre in a T-Mobile store and played it after (!) school ;D its quite nice, but you need a mouse o.O with the touchpad you can let your cat play
roght the minimum pec for this game is 577mhz, just go into setup > system > change textures to low, my emac 1gb 800mhz runs 50-60fps...tell me if u get stuck.
lame, intel integrated graphics suck. That's a quake 3 based game. I want a netbook, but my laptop with a crappy x1200 can play quake 3 games fine. Is there any netbook makers that don't use the intel graphics?
softare to make games run better? you mean tweaks right?
this video is meant to show that you can play this game in a eee, which means if you have mobile internet, you can play it "everywhere" (must have good connection and good ammount of juice in the battery eheh)
use this software called "wine". It allows windows games to be run on linux. I'm not totally sure about how it works cuase i installed XP on it. My advice is just to install xp.
Why would you run the Windows version under Wine when there are pre-compiled Linux binaries available?
Download the zip from the website, extract it to whatever directory you want (/usr/local/share/urbanterror is a nice place). To run the game all you need to do is execute the ioUrbanTerror.i386 file that's included in the zip. It's compiled for 32-bit Linux systems, and should work just fine out-of-the-box on the EeePC.
ve4cib-yeah i tried that but when i tried to extract those files to the 'usr/local/share/urbanterror' directory it would not let me? Any ideas? plus i think i should install xp instead!
For security reasons typically a user can only write to their /home/username directory; anything in there you can read/write to with no problems. Anything else requires special privileges (i.e. root access). The easiest way to do this is open up a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and type:
Sames! I run it on linux though and i get 30 - 40 when i have overclocked my processor to 900MHz instead of the stock 630MHz. I only have 512mb RAM though but i am ordering a 2GB stick which should speed it up a little bit right? i know the GPU is not brill but it should add some performance!
Just a suggestion, but maybe you should try archlinux. It is what I am using on my EeePC and desktop. Just follow the guides on the arch wiki (install from usb; EeePC install; beginner install). Arch doesn't come with a desktop environment by default, but installing packages is rather easy. To install gnome you would do, pacman -S gnome gnome-extra.

sudo mkdir /usr/local/share/urbanterror
sudo unzip UrbanTerror_41_FULL.zip -d /usr/local/share/urbanterror
'sudo' will give you root access. The first cmd makes the dir, the second will unzip the file to that dir.
