As an American of Colonial British descent and a royalist, I do find it odd that the Queen continues to remain committed to christening these Cunard vessels that carry American flags and are owned by an American company. It is polite of her, but in her heart doesn't she know that these vessels are not of the Kingdom itself?
@airplanegod Yes, sadly they have bought up Cunard and P & O (who also owned Princess Cruises). All these big fat American companies swallow up our top notch British companies and soon there will be nothing left. Kraft bought Cadburys, from Europe Santander of Spain bought Abbey National, Bradford and Bingley and 1 other bank I forget the name of. Ferovial from Spain bought up all BAA airports. EDF from France bought up our largest enegry supplier. BMW & VW bought Rolls Royce and Bentley. SAD
@GrandeurFrancaise . Yes I know the Queen Elizabeth was build in Italy, just like her sister ship before her (Queen Victoria), but what has that got to do with what I was saying?????
@JohnRhysMusician They fly British flags and are on the British shipping register (If you've seen clips of them flying the American flag its probably because they are in American waters, which is the norm). Carnival is a British company also, formed by the merger with P & O and dual listed on the stock exchanges of both countries.
Well, I'm going to start saving as I'd love to try this ship for my 30th in a few years! QM2 was fantastic, so high hopes will be carried over. Just would have liked a more original exterior, Cunard...!
@rongiant1093 Yes, she is bigger than QE2. Queen Elizabeth is 90,900 GRT (QE2 was 70,327 GRT)

Were you make money is running a cruise liner, not building them, although i agree it,s a shame uk yards are mostly gone

Such a shame the British have forgone the ability to build ships like this. We once ruled the waves, now we just borrow money to buy them.

Can't believe how they cheaped out on this ship, compared to the QM2. This is nothing more then a cruise ship dressed as a "liner"

@NaughtyBwoi Pick a shorter voyage, a week or less. They tend to have younger people on board.
