  • 6:53 Aww I just love her, look at that smile. After being used to the scum of society 'stars' we have today, I'm just blown away by Cheryl Ladd. Natural beauty, backed up by class, intelligence, and values? Actually forget stardom, that's just an amazing person period.

  • I could have done without seeing Jamie Farr in a speedo.

  • I would have banged her back then

  • Cheryl Ladd was throwing the balls at the target, and Jamie Farr is in the swimming suit in the dunk tank getting wet. What is obviously wrong with this picture?

  • Billy Crystal sure is running foooo!

  • Not a real blonde! BLACK BUSH

  • She sang the National anthem for Super Bowl 14!

  • BILLY CRYSTAL!!! LMAO

  • This was when American TV was still overwhelmingly white, and as a result much more classy and elegant, (even with the 70s style) than tv today, with it's "yo yo yo bitch" bullshit nonsense!

  • @jollyroger1889 The same yo yo yo bitch thats used by a demographic of white people!

And by the white kids on south park?

  • @jollyroger1889 You seen "Jersey Shore"? Last time I checked, they sure were white.

  • During this time, "Saturday Night Live" did an hilarious send-up commerical on "Network Battle of The Stars" and renamed it .....

    "Network Battle of the T's & A's!".......

Complete with a voiceover that stated - "With the biggest T's and the nicest A's!".....

The ad was filled with gratuitous camera close-ups of women in tight fitting t-shirts and shorts jumping up and down and jiggling about!!

    Still makes me chuckle :)

  • So glad I lived through the Seventies as a teenager .... TV, music , movies , all the stars from that decade ..... great old times , great memories.

  • Loved when they did this good times.

  • Cheryl wore the coolest Nikes on the planet. How would Ali Sweeney, Cat Deeley and/or Leighton Meester look in a pair of them if they were to revive Battle with 5 networks?

  • Funny, I know a couple that both remind me of them.

  • If you look up the word "tacky" in the dictionary you will see that it says "1970s"

  • @2indulgent What's your problem? Apparently you didn't live in the 70s. I'll take tachy anyday over the politically correct crap that's on today. Do you think Bruce Lee, Evel Knievel, Dr. J, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and Muhammad Ali were tacky?

  • @chroniclerofthe70s,

No, but all my clothes from the 70s that are stored away in my basement sure look tacky, including my patchwork flare bottom blue jeans, and my silk shirts with 6" collar points.

  • Something I never want to see again.

    Jamie Farr in a Speedo!

  • she one fine women ! so pretty!

  • Cheryl Ladd - "Favorite Color: Peach" LOL!

  • you have not seen anything until you experienced living in the 70s ,espec ially being in grade school in the 70s ,cool stuff

  • YES, those were such fun times to be a kid.

  • Its too bad that they don't have a current of Battle of Network Stars. The original worked because all the big stars bought into the concept and perhaps it was in their contract. Today, the actors of CSI, House, Lost, NCIS, Mentalist all have too many obligations and fly over the world to make more movies and money. Still, it's too bad they don't have anything like this anymore. The Superstars show that is currently running is pure junk with J-list actors.

  • Can you imagine the problems with insurance for the stars of today???

  • @stevenpp2008 steven , the other reason why battle of the network stars isnt being done is because there are so many networks to choose from. There is no longer a big three if you include the cable stations. Plus, you are right, acting now is more businessy than ever, an actor can go make a movie int he ukrane for a million dollars vs making a low budget movie here for not even hald that. Actors and entertainment has become so disposable that actors are virtually interchangable now.

  • At 6:15 to 7:00... Now there is a beautiful woman. They should have had her in the dunk tank with her bikini on instead of her throwing the baseballs.

  • Telly Savalas was one SEXY man....miss him and miss the fun 70's...this show was so much fun to watch...

  • Telly Savalas strikes me as the kind of man who could make the homeliest girl in the world feel like Cinderella.

  • i never needed to see klinger in speedos. the stuff of nightmares.

  • "Look at Billy go!"

Is that Billy Crystal or Billy "White Shoes" Johnson?

  • Telly Savalas is the coolest mofo

  • I was in high school when Charlie's Angels hit the TV screen ,I had Farrah,Kate, Jaclyn and my favorite Angel Cheryl all over my locker. Cheryl Ladd is still stunning! I love ya Cheryl!

  • Cheryl Ladd and Lynda Carter (checkout the '76 "Battle...") Those were the two hottest babes of that era...

  • I had a Cheryl Ladd poster. Outdoor bowling - how cool is that? Hey its Bruce Jenner with his old face.

  • Television in the '70s seem more fun than television today.

  • I agree 100%.

  • I grew up in the '70s, and you are OH so-ooo RIGHT, my friend!

  • @Barnstormer1969

    No Doubts there.

  • @Barnstormer1969 Television in the 70s was more fun than television today. Examples, Sesame Street, The Electric Company, and Zoom and plenty of variety shows like Sonny and Cher. There was also Dean Martin's Celebrity Roasts. A handful of channels and dozens of great family shows.

  • @Barnstormer1969 it was more down to earth

  • @Barnstormer1969 there was more unitity in hollywood at the time. But with cable networks and so many independent channels springing about during the 80's and beyond, it changed the landscape of hollywood entierly

  • i wish they would do these competitions now

  • Now they have Dancing with Star and....whatver crappy VH1 reality show where they cramp up stars in one house or get a group of no name goldiggers to compete for a washed out celebrity

  • she's very beautiful..

  • She looks like Barbie doesn't she? If Barbie had come to life.

  • i remember ABC winning every year and the music and coverage was second to none at these!!!!!!

  • Look at Telly...OMG..he was one cool Greek with a lolly.

  • Wow! Remember white people? I mean, com'on, seriously! You never see that many white people in one place in So. Cal. any more. I don't think there ARE that many white people in So. Cal. any more! Trust me, I drive it allll day! I'm just saying!

  • The white bread 70's! They were whiter back then too!

Sorry I mistakenly gave you a thumbs down.

  • @jackson32 What are you talking about? Never heard of the Jefferson's, Sanford and Son, Good Times, and What's Happening, and Bill Cosby?

  • Man that ABC team kilt it on the track. Penny Marshall did well for the lead of it's hard running first leg...but Cheryl Ladd closed the gap and Kristy helped seal the fate of the others cuz once she handed off to Kaplan it was over. The powerhouses of Stevenson, Chrystal and DeRose were AWESOME!!!

Re; Angels...I always identified with Kelly, she was beautiful, posh...and very street smart.

  • Thats a babe an she'z STILL A BABE!!! To this day, I would drink her dry!!

  • Ack, Jamie Farr in a Speedo! Image burned into retinas!

  • Some can't run for crap!! I can outrun some of them. I've ran track and cross-country since junior high and high school. I'm still an avid runner.

  • Oh Cheryl Ladd. What a fuckin' babe!

  • She's definitely a Minnesota/South Dakota type of girl.

  • In this so called "Battle Of The Network Stars", it is very debatable who was the best piece of crumpet [that is essentially what it is all about]. As regards the best pair of gams, it is a toss up between Barbara Bach & Tanya Roberts [my vote goes to Tanya]. Overall, i am going to to plump for Cheryl Ladd. She had personality plus, a body that looked fabulous in a bikini & she was a pretty good actress, to boot.

  • When Farrah Fawcett decided to leave CA after the first season, the shows producers were very upset after all Farrah was the golden girl with a luscious head of hair & a seventies glamour icon. Replacing her would be a very difficult choice they thought, but as it turned out her successor Cheryl Ladd was an inspired choice. From You-Tube comments it is clear that it is Cheryl who is the most popular Angel [mine too] & not Farrah.

  • ...yeah why did you guys (generation, not U - I see U always liked Cheryl better) like Farrah more than any Angel? I mean damn, I didnt see a 1970s day, but shit, I hv watched the re-runs literally for 17 yrs!!! ...And I have never liked her or under stood how ppl in you alls day could think she's hotter than Jaclyn, Tanya, My baby Cheryl or even Kate, who reeeeally does look tterrible now, I dunno WTF happened 2 her 'cause she was a cutie on the show - eyes, smile (THAT BODY, uhhh!!!). U rite.

  • I agree with you dave11691, & so does just about every one else. I have not seen "One West Waikiki", but i am prepared to take your word for it. Cheryl Ladd was a knockout. FULL STOP.

  • This must be an old clip. Bruce Jenner still looks like a man.

  • This unexpectedly made me laugh out loud. Mr. Decathlete is looking more like an old woman nowadays than the manly man one would expect. Thank you for your comment.

  • LMAO!!! I almost choked on my water, after laughing so hard at that comment...and it's so true!

  • she looks great golfing in that Angels baseball cap

    :)

  • Cheryl Ladd.... not bad running for a smoker.....

  • How do you know she smokes?

  • This was like meeting old friends. I hope that the powers that be will release BATTLE OF THE NETWORK STARS on dvd soon. It was great to see the stars that I grew up watching on tv. Please post more.

  • Yes I felt the same way when I taped and watched these on TRIO in summer 2003. It was like old-home week or going to a high-school reunion, though it may sound crazy. I actually had tears in my eyes at some points LOL. I doubt any official DVDs will be released but it's great to see these clips.

  • Billy Crystal

  • Wow, she's pretty.

  • this shit is great.

  • Cheryl Ladd= Class

  • I got to meet her when I worked as an extra on a TV Movie. She was the sweetest person and so nice to everyone. She isn't just beautiful on the outside but she radiates a very kind soul. Very sweet. Very genuine.

  • cheryl ladd was the hottest woman on the planet in the late 70's-no one else was close-she still looks great today

  • DAMN STRAIGHT!!!

  • Whenever Cheryl is on your team you know it is going to be a winning team! She is completely awesome!

  • From this, I gather I'm not the only person to feel that she's the finest woman to walk the face of the earth. Nice post, mate.

  • Cool! Thanks for posting. Where did you get this from?

  • A friend of mine just happened to have a copy.
