i worked at mcdonalds and walmart to support myself for 4 years.... why cant he? there are very few homeless people i respect, and this isnt one of them.
I might soon be joining him. For 18-years I worked for a company but when the economy began to shake, the company brought a new CEO in. She was there for a big 6-months when she and her board cronies did their thing; they voted her $6.4-million and she did the clever thing of recouping it by doing a "study" that showed HUNDREDS of us -- that were loyal to the company and helped make it a success -- were being overpaid! So she showed us the door!
My thoughts have always been "O he's homeless, he must of done drugs or hes an alchoholic" but watching your videos has changed the way I look at the homeless. And I just want to thank you for that. Now every morning when my dad takes me to school along the way there is a park with homeless men and i'll have my dad make a couple extra servings of whatever it is he made for breakfast, and I will give it to those men at the park so they don't have to go through the morning without breakfast. TY
@lookatthatjew thats very kind of you and your father. you have a great heart and that good karma will come back to you, sounds like you show altruism and thats wonderful, some homeless are indeed druggies or alcoholics, some aren't, some very rich people are addicted to drugs, prescription and street drugs, coke, xanax, ambien, etc. some people just dont have that support, Ive known people who live w family, others dont have that, getting a job when ur on the Streets if really tough
Thanks for showing these great interviews. Hopefully some of the people that ignore the homeless American situation will take a few moments and obtain some knowledge here.
The American people do not want a solution. Because like you say people think that it can not happen to them. But the problem can be solve by the government putting boots on the ground to solve some of these problems and stop with all the silly tricks. We need right now to help all American people who want to work get back to work. To raise to tax money that the government waste.
ok assuming money is god,the purpose of life is to work and have a job,buy useless stuff etc.this may pass as common sense.if this guy made minimum wage and lived in a small apartment he would still be miserable.
the 1 person you fall back on is yourself, you dont need to compromise to the system to survive.they detach us from nature,it makes us reliant on them.
fuck i wish i could help i really do i can relate to him yet im 15 my mum quit work to look after my nan and granddad and 3 years later there dead and where the shit is still hiting the fan but i wish i could give the bloke a address and a shave but im 15 over in Britain hope you get on your feet rick
I'm don't understand why he doesn't just move, he has the time to do it, walk, find a bike, whatever, go find a shelter, get a shower, and find a job. There are places that are willing to help. FUCK, it's not a dead end, you just have to ask around at soup kitchens. I know someone who was once homeless, and who isn't anymore because they found out how to get a good shower and some shelter long enough to find a job.
'i couldn't get a job in the city i wanted to live in.. so i became homeless.....'... errr... MOVE.. you had a job where you came from.. you want to be a factory worker in vegas? lol..
what i dont understand,i am not from the u.s,but in holland is, if u worked all the time you will get unemployment money(a sort of benefits)its not much, but you can pay the rent, food etc..till u get another job...
@13dutchdennis13 The way it works in the US is that you have to have been working continuously ful time at least for the past 6 months prior to when you apply for unemployment. Then if you do (which is not his case since he took care of his parents), you're entitled to a 2 year protection (max), where you get less than 40% of your salary, with a cap of around four hundred fifty dollars per week. So if you don't qualify, and don't have money, you end up on the street., like Rick.
@machintruc313 .that,s sad,I know that holland is good for their social and health care.if you work less then 5 years you will get about 60 % of your last wages+if it is needed(housing benefits).if you worked longer then 5 years, you will get 70% of your last wages.up 2 two years too and if you are taking care of somebody then there is an allowance too(i dont know how much),but you pay alot of taxes too if you work in holland.then in the us is a bit different(a bit harder)if you are homeless in
holland it is more your own fault(ofcourse there are exeptions)..and if you are homeless then there is the ymca and benefits to pay your rent and food..most of it are druggies..thanx for your answer and god bless

he looked after his parents til they died, inherited their money, went to vegas, gambled it away, became homeless
Gargarensisspire 3 months ago 5
@Gargarensisspire you know there's a good chance that his parents weren't rich. Lots of people die with mounds of debt.
Timsped 3 months ago
@Gargarensisspire
How would you know this? Maybe his parents had no money, maybe they had debts.. how are you to know? You don't know, so stop assuming.
johnholmes667 3 months ago
@Gargarensisspire That doesn't mean they don't deserve compassion, the pain of his parents death obviously shattered him, as it would many.
