I bought all of Elvis's videos years ago. This is my all time favorite song by him. I love all of his music but this one, he gave his all and I believe he meant every lyric.
please no more talk of jackson on elvis sites ..elvis was the best and thats the bottom line it really is . everyone rich and poor , old and young .famous or not were touched and in awe of elvis presley .
a real true legend ..the complete package..looks , voice , talent and a stage presence that has never been matched ..as big in death as he was in life , just shows the magnitude of this mans impact on society.
This was a time where 'real' singing required true talent not a lot of the crap we hear today that passes for music. Elvis was unique and no one will ever match the original. I've personally met some of his closest friends. Too bad he died so young.
jesus was a rabi...i think that makes him jew...on good friday...herad sent him back to pilot....as the ktng of the jews...jews were chosen for a reason....dont hate the jew
I can watch this video and this song over and over! What a sweet , classy, southern gentleman Elvis was. And I feel the spirit of God when I hear him sing this song! He was so handsome! I miss him so much!!! Denise 9482

"Technically" I don't give a "flip" what you think 17825329! Of course we love Elvis's music or we wouldn't be here, but many people are also very interested in his ancestry, life, women, and all things Elvis or there wouldn't be a couple thousand books written on him & many documentaries--with various levels of truth. If you are NOT interested, don't read it and shut up instead of picking on others who ARE interested!
Elvis and MJ were brilliant. Elvis was NOT a racist. How could he be as he was of mixed race, well about 1/8 Native American. Look at Elvis. How could a White man be that tanned unless he used fake tan and I doubt Elvis used any such thing. For those who call Elvis a racist shut your jealous holes. As for those who call Jacko a paedophile you should stop reading your National Enquirer and other White Power magazines. Instead get a few legal books+records and see how weak his court case was.
I totally agree. My understanding though is that his momma was half cherokee so that would make Elvis 1/4 indian. But why should it matter what race he is in the first place? Yes both Elvis and Mj were gr8 entertainers.
I am not 100% sure. I saw a picture of his mom and from what I saw she was quite white BUT the Cherokee blood is from his mothers side. I saw picture (I'm not sure how authentic it is though) of his maternal grandparents and his grandfather was very dark-skinned (for a white person),
No Elvis's mother was not half Cherokee. I think his great or great great grandmother was a full blooded Cherokee named Morning Dove. Elvis was technically Jewish however because his great grandmother on his mother's side was Jewish & there was a straight female line to him. Elvis knew & was proud of this, & that is the real reason he wore a Star of David & a Cross. It is also why he added a Star of David to his mother's original grave which I think his father removed for her grave at Graceland
Read Elvis' bio, he was 100% baptist Christian. He wore the Jewish star to show his tolerance of all religions. Elvis had negroes ways, does that make his partially black?
I never said Elvis wasn't a Christian, but Elvis was NOT a Baptist! He was raised in an Assembly of God Pentecostal church which has connections to messianic Jewish faiths which is good since YES Elvis WAS technically Jewish--meaning he was Jewish by parentage though his mother: Elvis's gggrandmother was a Jewish woman Nancy Burdine who m. Abner Tacket, their daughter Martha Tacket m. White Mansell, their daughter Octavia "Doll" Mansell m Robert Smith, one daughter was Elvis' mother Gladys.
Sources "Elvis & Gladys" by historian & biographer Elaine Dundy, Christian forum.met & Ancestry sites. Christian forum and several Elvis sites have pictures of Elvis' mother's original grave with Star of David he personally added. Elvis often joked he wore both a Cross & Star of David because he didn't want to be kept out of heaven on a technicality, but it really was serious to him. Several of Elvis's entourage were Jewish & Larry Geller has now gone back to his Orthodox Jewish Roots!
Elvis was NOT a racist, but it had nothing to do with his own coloring. It was more the fact he was raised around black people & their music. Being a little Native American is just being an American. Almost all Americans who have families that go back a ways have Native American--particularly Cherokee! I have Native American ancestors from 3 different tribes that I know about. Elvis was naturally a blonde and very fair, & yes you can get a deep tan when you are very fair!
Had Elvis blond hair? Did he dye it black? Oh I know Elvis wasn't a racist. Well a lot of KKK/Redneck Elvis fanatics would like us to believe that Elvis was 100% white/Caucasian.
Yes, Elvis had dark blonde hair that he dyed black. In pictures as a kid of 5 it was really light, and you can see his natural color in some early pictures and non publicity shots taken in the army. He liked it dark, and I guess it was thought it looked better on film & TV dark, but I think he looked great with his natural color. I know there are some people like that unfortunately, and it would be funny if it weren't so sad & creepy. They try to completely deny he was technically Jewish!
Was Elvis technically Jewish? I can't find much information on his parents. He certainly didn't look Jewish BUT a lot of Jews don't look like the stereotype anyway I suppose. His dark skin was definitely a trait from his Cherokee ancestry, I think anyway.
Yes, he was technically Jewish because there was a straight female line to him: his gggrandmother on his mother's side was a Jewish woman Nancy Burdine mar. Abner Tacket, their daughter was Martha Tacket mar. White Mansell (Native Am comes in here on Mansell side) their daughter was Octavia "Doll" Mansell mar. Robert Smith, & one of their 9 kids was Elvis's mother Gladys Smith. From "Elvis & Gladys" by historian & biographer Elaine Dundy, also on Christian forum. net. and Ancestry sites.
Christian forum and some Elvis sites have pictures of Gladys' original grave site where you can clearly see the Star of David which Elvis personally added, and I think his father Vernon removed on her new grave when they moved her to Graceland. There are people who want to deny Elvis's Jewish roots, & so you will see it left off. Most Ancestry sites have a Scots/Irish line, but some have seemingly added a German line--still don't know if that is real or not. Some other interesting things are:
Elvis was related to the old kings of England through his paternal grandmother Minnie Mae "Dodger" Hood, and also on his father side to Abraham Lincoln-3rd cousin line. He is also related to Oprah whose grandmother was a Presley. When Oprah visited Graceland, and became the first guest to eat at the main dining table & visit the archives, she and Lisa Marie discussed this--it is like 16th cousin. No this doesn't make him black , but he said God should have made him black & a bass singer!
Elvis' main line was German. His original family name was "pressler" german immigrants that came to america in the early 1700's. This was of course on his dad's side of the family.
His bio says he was protestant. He's was a mix of various european nationalities(german, dutch, scottish) . It also said he had a lot of cherokee indidan blood in him. and you're right it said he had jewish blood in him as well but didn't say on what side. My maternal grandfather was Jewish, but I was raised Catholic like my dad''s side. the fact that one has Jewish in them doesn't make you Jewish. and what difference would it make anyhow, he was a great performer.
Ah, read the quote from jackie wilson. Both jackie wilson and mr. pedophile came after Elvis so how's Elvis gonna be influenced by someone that came after him. and no I'm no racist I'm a man of color. I appreciate talent regardless of color. Quote from Chuck Berry about Elvis: "Elvis was, is and will always be simply the greatest."
A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black mans music, when in fact, almost every black solo entertainer copied his stage mannerisms from Elvis.
You are obviously a Elvis fan and are therefore a racist! Elvis stole from Blacks like Jackie Wilson!! Elvis didn't write any songs, he just stole from black artists. MJ is so much better than this crap!! Elvis is like shit like Vanilla Ice.
Michael Jackson expressed this sentiment several times over and much much better with Man in the Mirror, Black and White, We are the World, etc. Elvis sang this yet stole from the Black Man whereas MJ expressed hope for not just White but Black and Brown and Yellow etc. Michael Jackson was a cultural phenomenon who connected with all of the people of the earth.
and Elvis didn't connect with the world? With a record worldwide sales of 1.8 billion, Elvis connected quite well with all people. E was and is the greatest of all time. Talk about stealing? jackson(pedophile) stole the hiccup he uses on the song "billie jean" from Elvis. jackson also stole a lot of Elvis stage mannerisms. jackson idolized Elvis. An interview on Larry King Show, jermain said that michael and all the jacksons were big fans of Elvis. so put that in your crackpipe and smoke it!
"as long as a man has the stength to rise, he can redeem his soul and fly...." To think that the Colonel wanted him to finish that comeback show with a christmas carol instead of this amazing and inspiring song.... Its lifted me up in some really difficult times. Heard it first as a 12 year old, and never forgot it.
thank you, and may you always fly with the birds in your heart to places where hope keeps shining on everyone, and the rain comes only long enough for us all to refresh ourselves and then goes away to let us enjoy the sun again and again... ~O~
my cousin saw Elvis in concert at the forum here in L.A in the mid 70's. He said when Elvis stepped onto the stage, the whole auditorium filled with electricity. He described it as a very odd sensation. one he never felt before.
I like the visual blend of the two performances here. I think the vocal is all the white suit performance, and I personally like the "grit" and passion that is in the black suit performance of this song. Both are great performances however!
i love the king but contrary to what you said....michael jackson is the greatest entertainer of all time,i dont mean to take shit from you but it is the truth whethere u like it or not.
every artist is a fan of eachother so thats no biggie, elvis sold millions as a deceased artist,he sold more albums then jackson,im talking about as a living artist, jackson sold more than any artist of all time, even till this day,no one can touch him on that...you google it.
I'm referring to total record sales of people alive and dead. Obviously, jackson is the top performer and holds some records but total sales since the inception of pop music.

i used to have this one vhs i think this is a movie correct me if im wrong but i think it is cuz i remember the video perfectly and the song but i was too little to remember what the movie was called so can someone plz send me a message telling me what it was because i want to get it. so plz help me if you will thanx michelle!
This is my all time favorite Elvis song. Most ppl don't even know it when u say the title - but i've known it my whole life and have loved it my whole life. Elvis was and always will be the King.
(8) there must be lights burning brighter somewhere , got to be birds flying higher in the sky more blue if i can dream of a better land were all my brothers walk hand in hand tell my why oh why cant my dream come truee (8)
Not only is this man Elvis Preseley OBVIOUSLY spiritually inclined, and listened to the creater upon writing this song. The spirit of this song is what our world needs to heed today. This song, is So uplifting, especialy, as Elvis sang this song all the passion in his heart, for the desperate cry and need for humanity. . God Bless you all.
I bought all of Elvis's videos years ago. This is my all time favorite song by him. I love all of his music but this one, he gave his all and I believe he meant every lyric.
