  • Hey, the old bitch voted against health care. Hand the old hag a broomstick and you're ready for Wizard of Oz Two.

  • o. snowe makes me sick. how many insurance companies is she protecting?

  • She makes an art out of stabbing us in the back.

Damn them for electing that traitor.

  • Snow is just using republican strategy to eliminate the public option in the bill... "I'll support it "IF" there is no public insurance option" it's all strategy people ... Without a public option there is no health reform.... just more of the same bull!@#%@#$ but even worse because there gonna force us to buy private insurance ... USA congress has allot of member BOUGHT and paid for by the private insurance companies.... VERY SAD for America

  • Maine can do better than Snowe I think. I do hope they realize now what Snowe is all about.

  • On War: America prior to Iraq, never started a war with anyone that did not attack it - we believed in peace and spreading peace throughout the world with national development of nations including our own. War is justified in self-defense.

On Abortion: I am a progressive, and have struggled with this issue. On one hand I can understand a womans right to control her body as well as a mans - but then there is the innocent child/soul inside of her who is to protect him or her?

  • I'm so sick of people making claims they know nothing about. The US never started a war unless it was self-defense? Are you SERIOUS? Vietnam? Desert Storm? The Korean war? Should I keep going? If you don't KNOW, then don't claim to know.

  • By all means keep going...lol...Korea? That was provoked by North Korea attacking the South, and pushing Allied Forces - an attack on our allies was an attack on us then. In Vietnam, the Gulf of Tonkin incident sparked the major conflict, prior to this we were there as advisors, further the North was invading the south - we know Tonkin was staged, they didn't then. Persian Gulf War - Iraq invaded Kuwait, we and our allies defended it, and then stopped. lol, they who know not think they do I see

  • Sorry, but no matter how you try and spin it, the fact still remains that none of those wars were "self-defense". You admit we weren't attacked in any of the wars I mentioned, our allies were; if your friend gets punched in the face and you go after him, do you honestly think you can claim you jumped in and claim "self-defense"?

  • mar504 - YOU obviously are a wimp...and would not get your "friends" back if someone attacked them. The LAW allows for the defense of another if life and limb is at stake or in fear FOR your life or theirs....IT'S CALLED THE GOOD SAMARITAN LAW YOU LIMP LEFTY. PEOPLE LIKE YOU MAKE ME SICK...YOU ARE THE REASON WE HAVE SO MUCH RAMPANT CRIME..SHRINK ,COWER AND SLINK AWAY AND NOT WILLING TO TAKE A STAND AND DEFEND ANYTHING

  • Shadow, unfortunately for the rest of us, people like you keep breeding, stop being such an idiot. The only part of his comment I was responding to was that those wars were not in self defense, which is the true. So instead of setting up a strawman focus on the topic at hand dumbass.

  • mar504 - LIKE I SAID BEFORE... It's scum like you who perpetuate the 'Don't wanna get involved' attitude, that lets criminals and miscreants like Obama and his Chicago thug minions get to the place they are now. THE TOPIC AT HAND WAS YOUR INEPT ATTEMPT TO SOCIALIZE AND BELITTLE THE "TAKE CARE OF OUR ALLIES" COMMENT YOU IGNORANT LEFTIST WIMP.

  • Tell me shadow, would you be willing to send your son to die for our "korean allies" who are getting pushed around? I sure as hell wouldn't, fuck the koreans, fuck the Vietnamese, fuck the iraqi's, I sure as hell won't send OUR troops to die for THEIR protection. We are not the world police, and if you want to go die for some country on the other side of the world be my guest, but you won't because your just a shit talker on youtube who does nothing but talk.

  • mar504-IT'S PRETTY OBVIOUS WHO THE "SHIT TALKER" IS HERE...YOU! AMERICANS have since our beginning, help protect people and other countries that wanted the same things we have...ie;(FREEDOM) (DEMOCRACY) etc.etc. I have gone to fight for freedom and democracy on foreign sand, for people who could not do it for themselves, you socialist asshole and would allow my son or daughter to make that decision for themselves, instead of being like a socialist and controlling or "SENDING" them as YOU put it.

  • Shadow, Anyone can see BOTH sides of this discussion between you and 'mar504'. You seem to be on the side of America has a responsibility to help the world when possible,

and mar504 seems to believe that isolationism will solve all her perceived problems with America. Typical Leftist ! LOL she does not seem to be able to grasp the concept of "The Good Samaritan" you mentioned in your earlier comment.

Socialist-until it benefits them, nothing is right.

  • Watcher, is a country $12 trillion in debt really in a position to be fighting other peoples battles? There is nothing greater than charity, and maybe you're the type that will starve to feed a stranger, but your fault is you will feed a stranger before your feed your own family, your own country. So what does that make you? A good samaritan or a traitor?

  • mar504, look why our country is in debt that much, Socialist Policy of this new Marxist Pres you people elected. If you knew history, you would know, IF not for the FRENCH helping us fight England, we would probably not be The Nation we are today. YOU Presumptuous idiot. YOU don't know me, my"Type", or my "Faults" I would share with a stranger to keep him from starving, while not letting myself or my family starve, same goes for MY Country...People like YOU are the traitors!!!

  • I do know my history, and if you did too then you would know that our national debt as a percentage of our GDP has historically been higher with republican presidents; except for Obama who is spending ridiculous amounts. And I'm sure you love it too, the only way to feed yourself, your family, the stranger, and half the countries on the planet is to print more money and borrow what you don't have, you sure sound like the socialist front man to me. The true is, you CAN'T feed everyone, so choose.

  • You're such a sweetheart, going around trying to save the world from themselves. I will defend my country, but don't ask me to die for people who won't even defend their own homes. You are an enabler, why would anyone do it themselves when they can get you to do it for them. I'm sure you think every battle is for freedom and democracy, that shows just how ignorant you really are. War has nothing to do with freedom and everything to do with power.

  • mar504 - LOL... TALK ABOUT IGNORANCE?... YOU SAY"War has nothing to do with freedom and everything to do with power." ??? TELL THAT TO THE MILLIONS WHO DIED TRYING TO FREE THE WORLD FROM THE TYRANNY OF HITLER...YOU DUMBASS.. THIS IS MY LAST POST TO YOU, YOU ARE TOTALLY OBLIVIOUS TO REALITY...TYPICAL LIB SOCIALIST...WHAT AN IMBECILE...

  • It seems you don't fully understand what power encompasses. If you remember, we were attacked in WWII, we were defending our country from the axis; unlike the wars I listed before. I started my comments with the intention of having an actual conversation, but all I'm getting from you is anger, which is too bad for both our sakes. Peace be with you.

  • mar504 -I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND EXACTLY WHAT POWER ENCOMPASSES...AND IT'S PRETTY OBVIOUS that YOU don't understand much of anything especially HISTORY !! ...LOL...WE were NOT attacked by Hitler in WWII..or the Axis LMAO... IT WAS JAPAN! JEEZE...REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR? WE went to Europe to HELP Other COUNTRIES IN TROUBLE ! Being Good Samaritans. PUHLEEESE JUST SHUT-UP, YOU'RE MAKING YOURSELF LOOK MORE STUPID EVERY TIME YOU OPEN YOUR BRAIN AND COMMENT!!! Also,...you don't know if I'm angry or not.

  • I never said Hilter attacked us, I said the Axis attacked us. Japan was one of the three major axis powers, along with Germany and Italy. I find it a little absurd you are disputing such an obvious fact, maybe you can enlighten us on who the Axis were if Japan was not one of them.

  • mar504- KEEP GOING ! Korea? That was provoked by North Korea attacking the South, and pushing Allied Forces-an attack on our allies was an attack on us then. In Vietnam, the Gulf of Tonkin incident sparked the major conflict, prior to this we were there as advisors, further the North was invading the south - we know Tonkin was staged, they didn't then. Persian Gulf War - Iraq invaded Kuwait, we and our allies defended it, and then stopped. lol, they who know not think they do I see"

  • Sen. Olympia Snowe was no help before is no help now. What is her problem?

  • We need HR 676 - medicare for all! Anything less will just help the insurance companies at the expense of working Americans.

  • Insurance companies profit by denying coverage. That is SICK and immoral. A public option is the ONLY way to keep them honest. Why should someone go into bankruptcy just because they get sick?? That seldom (if at all) happens in other countries that DO have a public option.

This isn't a right or left issue. It's a human issue. It's a moral issue.

  • Insurance companies make a profit by paying claims and providing good service and value to their customers. If you don't like your insurance company, you can either change it, or pay your medical bills yourself.

  • Wow. You copied that so neatly from your talking points.

Did you think to mention that if you pay your bills yourself, they will be ten times higher? Or that the citizens of other western nations are unafraid of becoming ill, unlike Americans? Did you mention that to keep your masters' profits, the pool of eligible is shrinking daily? That PREGNANCY is now a pre-existing condition? The "good service" people are paying so much for is nothing but denial of claims.

  • Why is it when confronted with the facts, you people retreat into the "talking points" bit?

Pregnancy IS a pre-existing condition. It ALWAYS have been. Try getting full coverage on a car you have already wreaked!

I think the government should make it illegal to charge different prices to different people for the same procedure.

  • 65-75% of adult American Citizens want the public option. That's all anyone needs to know.

  • Don't worry they will get their public option.

  • On one side we have people trying to hold insurance companies accountable, and provide more affordable health insurance choices for Americans. On the other side, it's "let's bring down Obama". Hmm...tough choice!

  • Respectfully, that is NOT what the Democrats are doing. They are intentionally driving private insurers out of the business so that everyone must take the government option.

  • And you know this as a fact because... (check all that apply)

    Limbaugh__Beck__Hannity__O'Reilly__Dobbs__Hannity__

  • Ain't it funny how Dems are so used to blaming Repubs for everything, they forget they won the election and own congress. Stop blaming Rush, Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly and Fox and just PASS your DEMOCRAT bill !!

    Oh that's right .. YOU CAN'T !!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA

  • If she votes for asshole's bill vote her out

  • Snowe must be defeated the next time she runs.

SHE IS TOTALLY OWNED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANIES!

  • Push through a strong public option and stop these luny right wingers from destroing the American middle class.

  • Snowe has sold out to the insurance companies.

And if she's gonna be a whore for them, SHE NEEDS TO BE BOOTED OUT OF CONGRESS!

  • She cares more about the party than her voters.

  • If our "government cared" about us, they would do something about pre-existing conditions and insurance companies canceling or not covering sick customers, just because they are sick. Instead they are trying to pass off this massive bill under the guise that they are the "caring" side. This is BS and Olympia Snow is right. WHY THE RUSH???? GET IT RIGHT!! How many times has the government done that?? NO PUBLIC OPTION!!!!

  • REPUBLCIANS must send their Insurance agents Thank You cards the way some them act ! Or maybe it is Insurance Agents writing these comments ?? When it was "George Bush" pushing (Socialized Prescriptions) "ALL Repubs" were for it. Now it's suddenly different ?

What a bunch of Hypocritical Pigs !!

  • Snowe has now become a bitch for the Insurance Companies - take her outta Congress!

  • Bold Communists?

    Liars. Theives. Scum.

  • Is your doorknob a racist?

    "

Budget chief contradicts Obama on Medicare costs

WASHINGTON — Congress' chief budget officer is contradicting President? Barack Obama's oft-stated claim that seniors wouldn't see their Medicare benefits cut under a health care overhaul.

    "

    Obama is a liar.

The Hopey-Changey Crew are a pack of race-hustling, class-warfare generating Marxists, and their POLITICS are toxic to humanity.

  • Obama says he knows exactly how much fraud and waste money he can get from medicare, so why is he sitting on his ass right now? He should be doing something about it, even if there wasn't a healthcare bill out there. The simple truth is, he plans on cutting benefits for seniors He can't admit it, but it's obvious.

  • okay, seriously, can you walk and eat at the same time without falling down or choking?

You say Obama knows about waste in medicare but is "sitting on his ass" instead of doing something about it. WELL WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK THE HEALTHCARE OVERHAUL IS THEN?

  • Mark I'll type slowly so you can understand. Obama doesn't have to wait for healthcare reform to stop any fraud and waste in medicare. He should have been taking care of business as soon as he was told there was fraud and waste.

    UNDERSTAND????????

No of course you don't understand. You'll just drink the Koolaid and say anything, no matter how stupid. to protect your Chocolate Messiah

  • Actually, he does have to wait for legislation to get rid of some of the waste and abuse. Getting rid of Medicare Advantage (which is a give-away of U.S. tax dollars to private insurance companies) will take legislation. Changing some of the payout structure in medicare to incentivize doctors to worry about results rather than malpractice suits takes legislation.

    Can you understand that?

  • Those are called "CUTS".

  • Let's use an example shall we. If you were on welfare and were given cash instead of food stamps, and you were allowed to buy a PS3 and an Xbox with that cash but were still starving the gov't might come along and say, "well that's wasteful." So now they limit your welfare payments to pay for food and rent and they require you to be looking for a job if you're able.

Guess what. That's a cut in welfare spending. But it's also a cut in wasteful spending.

  • Not unless the amount of the money was actually less than what we paid you before.

There is NOT 600 billion dollars in savings to be in Medicare and Medicaid. The only way to achieve that level is cutting the reimbursement rates to providers. Medicare is already caused massive cost shifting. This will make it worse than ever.

  • shalcall since your example is Medicare Advantage, that was signed into legislation. Therefore it is NOT waste. You could legislate it back OUT, but you would have to define it as "restructuring", "streamlining", or "cuts", but NOT waste. I also noticed you totally ignored the "fraud" part. Since Obama says he knows there's fraud, and knows how much, why is he sitting on his ass and not stopping it?

  • Wait, everything signed into legislation is automatically not waste? That's a new one to me. The infamous bridge to nowhere was part of legislation. I'm pretty sure most reasonable people would call that wasteful spending.

As far as fraud, I'm sure he is trying to stamp it out, like other presidents have done. However, it also requires legislation as medicare and medicaid have state run components that are far more difficult for the federal gov't to oversee. I'm sure you know that.

  • Exactly ...

    "

Dems block GOP demand for more time [Sep. 23, 2009]

. . . The amendment would have delayed a vote on the final bill for about two weeks to allow the Congressional Budget Office to complete its final analysis on the cost and implications of the legislation.

  • Holy Crap, did you read the rest of the article? The CBO is talking about Medicare Advantage. They're talking about paying for seniors to have PRIVATE insurance. Why are my tax dollars paying for seniors to get private insurance, when Medicare provides the same level of service?

Any cut of waste is a cut. If people who can walk according to their doctors are no longer allowed to get scooters, that's a cut. But it's a cut in wasteful spending.

  • You can call it whatever you want "savings" or "cut" but it will REDUCE the services provided to seniors. Medicare does not provide medical services, only payments. We can argue the merits of the Medicare Advantage program if you want. However cutting it out is a cut never the less. It provides a service and if you replace it with Medicare it will still cost. So where is the savings?

  • If Medicare provides, or rather pays for the minimal extra services that Medicare Advantage does now through private companies, the savings come from less overhead and forgone profit.

  • Why do you think they created Medicare Advantage?

  • Single Payer Now!!!!

  • You don't need a free market with a police department or fire department!

You don't need it with health insurance. No profit needs to be made on peoples misery!

  • Then make the argument for that, but the President is NOT. He is lying.

  • We do not want change that mirrors Medicare, SS, or education.

    LESS GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION please.

  • Yes 1911 it is time for change.

Time for our government to step aside and let the free market run.

  • We are # 37 in the world due to private insurance failures. Time for change!

  • Who would Jesus deny coverage?

  • How many people died during each of Obama's exclusives instead of ne press conference?

What a pathetic Commander in Cheif

  • Accountability is a must!

Search Youtube for HOW WEED WON THE WEST

  • This ad nearly has me in tears. Why is no one talking about the thousands of people who get dumped by their insurance companies when they need it most? We need reform so desperately and all we get from the media is talking points about distractions from what we are even talking about, which should be our broken health care system.

  • Snowe needs to vote for the Public option. Health Care for ALL NOW!!

  • SURRENDER to corporatism!

Government (We the people) CAN'T work!

The Achilles' heel and self-fulfilling prophecy of Reagan/Limbaugh-styled "conservatism"

  • The government can't do everything.

  • It's time to shove national health care down the republicans greedy little throats.

  • Olympia Snowe looks like a bird . . . not that that's bad.

  • i thought i had a good job too and i lost it now i lost my house , without a house i have no place to keep my things and i lost those too, without a job i lost my car too, please we need a bill to give me a house, car, things, food , come on people i deserve it and it would be in your best interest and my families and save you money and no one will make fun of you and call you crazy.

  • hey common sense joe we know it is you. You are really sad.

  • who? you mean someone else has some common sense out there, more power to em. whoever common sense joe is, sounds like someone i would like to hang out with.

  • Wow! This is a great ad. Lets keep it up.

  • A BoldProgressive is a radical leftist.

  • ACCORDING TO FOX NEWS

  • Only in America is socialism and socialistic policies denounced as bad. Yet we have many socialistic policies. Socialism is a label, nothing more. We have public road, schools, police departments, and fire departments. This is all socialism, but we do not call it that. No pure capitalistic societies exist and no pure socialistic societies exist.

Beside, even if we adopt a public option, you can still buy private health insurance. It is a public insurance optionnot a government takeover.

  • Really good points!

  • If the cost of healthcare can bring down general motors,,what chance do the rest of us have? we cannot afford to do nothing, our economy is at stake ,its time all lawmakers get to work to improve the healthcare bill republicans need to start working ...with demacrats to improve the bill instead of just saying no..doing nothing is not an option

  • According to the polls, about 85% of the people in America are satisified with thier healthcare insurance. Why would the Gov. decide to change something that more people are in favor of. There are two things politicians want, money and power, they control the auto ind., the banking, fannie mae and freddie mac, are trying to take over Sallie mae, and now want the healthcare industry. Obama has the UAW, NEA, SEIU, ACORN, and many of the politicians in his pocket. The American people next.

  • The repugs were in power in White House and Congress when Katrina struck. Bush and Cheney were ultimately responsible for that horror. Repugs hate government. They try to make sure it fails, as in the case of health care.

  • Yeah, it was Bush and Cheney that caused Katrina. The Democratic governor and mayor had nothing to do with the problem. Of course, those people who were to stupid to get out of the city when they were warned have no responsibility either.

  • Bush and Cheney left 75,000 Americans without food, potable water, electricity and sanitation FOR FIVE DAYS!!!!! This is either criminal negligence or gross incompetence, for which they should have been impeached. The Governor of Louisiana as well as the mayor of New Orleans, begged and pleaded with Bush to send help FOR FIVE DAYS. The city and state had no resources left to help. As the last resort, Bush and Cheney are responsible for those horrible days.

  • Why were there 75,000 people still in the city?

Why was it FEMA's job to take care of these people when they should not have been there?

Why did the governor wait to declare a state of emergency?

Why did the mayor refuse to use the buses provided to evacuate those people?

Who told them to go to the stadium in the first place?

How did reporters get there in cabs but these people could not get out?

No one was prepared for this disaster and no one could have been.

  • ehh... no decisions were even made for 5 days at the national level, i think thats the point the other guy was trying to make.. that's just pretty pathetic. sure, they weren't ready. but they didn' treact either.

  • What kind of decisions would you have liked them to make? Do you know the amount of resources it took? These cannot be amassed over night. New Orleans was not the only place hit. People believe the media hype that it was the federal government's fault. Tell me, how many billions have we poured into that corrupt place since then, and what do we have for it?

  • FEMA knew a high category storm was headed in the direction of New Orleans for days. EVERYONE knew that it was a distinct possibility that if the hurricane hit New Orleans, a levee could burst causing massive havoc. In fact there was a PBS special on the danger to New Orleans in a hurricane that same year, before Katrina hit.

When local and state resources are overwhelmed by a natural disaster, you don't wait for someone to ask for help.

  • And yet... 75,000 people stay in the city.

If you stand in front of a bus, can you really blame the government for not have an ambulance standing by to save you?

  • And a good portion of those people that remained in the city were either too poor, too ill informed, too sick (many hospitals were not fully evacuated), too old, too criminal (many jails and prisons were not evacuated) to get out of the city in time.

No one is saying resources should have been waiting INSIDE the city. But they should have been on standby elsewhere. Other states got a LOT of federal assistance as well. They were just as overwhelmed.

  • There is no way to be ready for such a natural disaster. You cannot put resources there before the storm hits because it might destroy the resources. Other states were able to handle the situation without the problems of New Orleans.

  • A good point to show you how derelict the federal government was during Katrina is Florida. At the time it was run by Bush's brother Jeb. Jeb never had to ask the president to show up after a hurricane (even low category ones). He always showed up, with FEMA in tow, usually the day after the storm left. These are facts, go look them up.

  • Katrina was 10 times worse than anything to hit before then. You fail to appreciate that NO ONE was prepared for the devastation that resulted.

What happen was made worse by the governor and mayor. It takes time to get supplies and people in place when there are no roads or phones. Everyone admits the response could have been better.

  • isnt there like, mountains of evidence and information that katrina was going to be a fucking nightmare and new orleans would be a deathtrap.

dont we have video 4 days prior where people directly tell this to bush? i fucking thought so

  • Again, the President cannot take over a state and a city in the wake of a potential disaster. The governor delayed in even asking for help before the storm. The magnitude of the storm and the destruction could not have been predicted, nor the resources in place prior to it. The response could have been better. No argument. Blaming the President however is just venting anger on someone you already hate.

  • All of these points are irrelevent to the fact that, once the storm hit and devastated the city and the state, it was Bush and Cheney's responsibility to rescue these people. They failed. It was either criminal neglect or gross incompetence for which they should have been impeached and thrown in jail.

  • The fact is that both the state and the city were run by total incompetents. They failed the people, not the President. The people themselves failed to heed the warnings and evacuate. The federal government's response was slow, but there was nothing criminal about it.

The storm was bigger and stronger and caused more damage that anyone could have imagined. It was compounded by the mentality of those people who just around waiting for their handout .

  • ALL of what you say is IRRELEVANT to what happened once the storm devastated the city and the state. BUSH and Cheney were DERELICT in their duty to those 75,000 Americans. It amounts to either criminal negligence or gross incompetence for which they should have been impeached and thrown in jail.

  • lol its fema's job to take care of these people because its fema's job to take care of people during emergencies. LOL you are really reaching with some of these posts. Do you work for an insurance company or something? You are pushing against health reform just a little too hard.

  • I am against the President and the Democrats lying their way to socialized medicine. If that is what they really want, then they should stand up and say so. Make the argument for a single payer, government run system. The President knows reform will affect EVERYONE's insurance.

  • its true that obamas plan will affect everyones insurance. It will drive the premiums down. What a monster...

  • The only liars in the health care debate are the conservatives who make up death panels and free care to illegals. They have been full of horseshit since the bogus "Contract with America" movement. The true conservative position has been infiltrated by ideological extremists who will do and say ANYTHING to win. They're taking honest right-leaning ideologues down with them. The American people are getting wise to their lies and deceptions.

  • Do you actually believe that reform will not affect those who currently have health insurance?

  • The public option, if enacted, WILL affect everyone by LOWERING COSTS!!! Your premium, if you're lucky enough to still have insurance, WILL GO DOWN!!! The insurance companies will have to give more and better service at competitive rates.

The insurance companies dug this hole for themselves by raking in obscene profits AND LEAVING THOSE MOST IN NEED WITHOUT INSURANCE!!!

One million bankruptcies and 46,000 deaths AND GROWING each year is abysmal failure.

It's way past time for reform.

  • So now we are up to 46,000 death...from 22,000.

You are about so many things. The public option will be just as expensive as private insurance unless it is taxpayer funded.

This is all about blaming the insurance companies when the rise in cost was caused by Medicare.

What will we blame bankruptcies on when this is done?

  • According to the American Journal of Public Health, 44,700 died needlessly while insurance companies made record profits in 2008.

And don't forget the ONE MILLION BANKRUPTCIES.

You're playing russian roulette with these companies. You may have insurance now, but if you or a spouse or a dependent get deathly or chronically ill, they can drop you like a hot potato.

The PUBLIC OPTION will REDUCE COSTS TO EVERYONE! That, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

  • You don't seem to want to discuss the merits of the bill. People die everyday. Claiming the 44,700 "needlessly" died is doubtful at best. The question is whether or not they would have even gone to the doctor even if they had insurance. The other question is WHY did they not have insurance.

I reject your claim that ALL insurance companies drop people when they get sick. This might happen in rare cases and it should not happen. But it is not what normally happens.

  • You're contemptible disregard for 45,000 dead is appalling and reflective of why the right is losing power.

  • It is not a question of having any disregard for them. The reality is that the "reform" bill will not change that situation at all.

Murdering over a million unborn children every year for the convenience of woman is appalling. That is a real number reflecting REAL LIVES.

  • You have lost the ability to critically think because of your narrow views. Get help.

  • I don't think so....

  • Armies kill the unborn, are you anti-war?

  • Depends on the war and the enemy.

  • So, you're willing to spend federal funds, YOUR TAX DOLLARS, where the unborn are being killed in wars, but you're not willing to spend your tax dollars on proper health care for all because the unborn might be killed. Is this your position?

  • The sad reality of life is that some wars need to be fought. Yes, I am willing to spend my tax dollars to fund a needed war.

The healthcare debate and the abortion debate are two different issues.

  • Your positions show reasoning that belies your name.

You're at odds with your own beliefs. Killing the unborn in war with taxpayer dollars is okay by you, but it's not okay to fund healthcare with tax dollars because the unborn might die? That is nonsensical at best and hypocrisy at worst.

As for it being two different debates, you brought it up, so don't try & run from it now. And, there are some loonies on the right trying to inject the abortion debate into the public option debate.

  • First, we do not intentionally target pregnant women when we fight a war. Some are killed as an unintended consequence of war. You cannot equate that with abortion which intentionally murders an unborn child.

There is no debate on abortion as far as I am concerned. There is reasoning, justification, and logic to murdering an unborn child.

We already fund healthcare with tax dollars. Medicare and Medicaid costs us BILLIONS already. I favor a public option with two conditions.

  • The public option is a good idea IF the following conditions are meet:

    1) It must be self-sustaining. It cannot rely on tax payer funding to survive. If it goes broke, it goes broke.

    2) Under no circumstance, should the public option be taken over by the government run with tax payer dollars like Medicare or Medicaid.

Without these two conditions, the public option is nothing more than a backdoor to government run, single payer, universal healthcare.

  • You KNOW the unborn are killed as a result of war. Yet, you have no problem with your tax dollars going there. Your position is incongruous and hypocritical. If you want abortion to stop, then begin with stopping state-sponsored violence.

Considering costs above death and human suffering makes you sound like a callous idiot.

  • No one wants war, but sometimes it is necessary. We do not target civilians in a war, but some do die as unintended victims. You cannot equate that with the intentional slaughter of over 30 million unborn children. It is your position that is immoral.

  • No one wants health care but we all eventually need it, whether we're rich or broke. You would rather consider costs than consider the suffering and those dying. You would rather let your countrymen die without care than to have tax dollars go to help them get well. You care about the unborn but are willing to let your tax dollars go to slaughtering them in war. It is your position that is immoral.

  • I pay for my own health insurance and have for decades. I live modestly so I can afford it. It is not the best plan in the world, but it covers me.

I care about all people, unborn and born. We spend billions of dollars on Medicare and Medicaid and S-chip. I am for real healthcare reform. All I see is the government taking over health INSURANCE.

You cannot escape your responsibility for supporting the murder of unborn children by attacking my position on war.

  • You may like your insurance now but they can raise the premium, raise the deductible, deny claims or drop you altogether as they rake in record profits.

Leaving health insurance to private interests is not working. As a result, 45,000 people a year are dying, untold numbers are suffering, including 1,000,000 a year who are declaring bankruptcy. That is near total failure and prices will soar throughout the next decade.

You can't deny that your tax dollars are killing the unborn.

  • If police accidentally shoot a pregnant woman while arresting a criminal, should I stop playing my taxes then as well?

I get your point. You don't like health insurance companies. Nothing in what the President has proposed in going to change that.

  • You build more strawmen than a Kansas farmer.

You still cannot deny the fact that your tax dollars are being spent where the unborn are being killed.

    And, you support it.

  • Yes, people are killed in war. Are you saying that ALL wars are wrong and unjust?

  • You keep running from the incongruity/hypocrisy of your position. Your tax dollars go to war which kills the unborn. You cannot escape from that fact.

    And, Christ was a pacifist.

It is antithetical to his teachings to support war.

  • I am not running from anything. You are deflecting attention away from the fact you supported the INTENTIONAL murder of over 30 million unborn children. All of our wars together have never killed that many children.

Please do not tell what Jesus Christ was. He would never have support murdering the unborn.

  • Christ was a pacifist, of that there is no doubt from anyone.

Christ NEVER supported war but you do.

You say you're against the killing of the unborn but you will allow your tax dollars to support war which has, as a consequence, the killing of innocents including the unborn.

    You're in serious denial.

  • A public option might lower the cost of insurance, but it will not lower the cost of actual healthcare.

  • The rest of the industrialized world provides universal health care to all of it's civizens for a fraction of what were are spending to not cover millions.

    Medicare is cheaper!

  • No, they are going broke as well. If we go socialized they will be the first to go under.

  • I get it that you hate Insurance companies... for good reason, however, do you really want to empower our government to be a permanent Monopoly in Insurance, while maintaining complete authority to make laws, tax, imprison, execute, levy war..? Imagine those 'evil' corporations, and realize that our government has those same 'evil' people in it, but with no limit to their influence and authority.

  • CommonSenseJoe -- dont' know how old you are, but I have to assume, given your opposition, that you VOLUNTARILY WILL NOT TAKE Social Security OR medicare -- because both of those programs are... GOVERNMENT-RUN, SOCIALIST PROGRAMS. Obviously, you're opposed so stand up for your beliefs. Unless, of course, you're another hypocrite who wants to benefit from government care all the while you work to make sure none of your fellow citizens do the same.

  • You are not making any sense. Medicare and social security are government benefits but not really socialism. I am paying for these benefits but not receiving them now.

First, are you now admitting the real agenda here is SOCIALIZED MEDICINE? The fact remains that the President consistently says he does not want socialized medicine. Who is lying here?

  • Joe, you do realize that the money you pay into Social Security and Medicare (your FICA taxes) are not for you, but for the current beneficiaries?

The SS and Medicare money you will receive after 65 (or older, depending on how young you are), will be paid for by a future generation.

  • Yeah right! There are not enough people in the "future generation" to pay for my benefits. This is one of the reasons that Democrats have to take over healthcare and health insurance. Medicare is unsustainable. The government needs the trillions in the industry to cover up this fact.

  • Your wrong here again Joe. The United States has a growing population. There will, in all likelihood, be more taxpayers when you get older than there are now. Now whether they will be collectively earning as much as taxpayers are earning now is a different question.

  • After the baby boom generation was born, the birth rate began to decline. The

large baby boom generation, increasing longevity, and the decline in the birth rate have

all combined to cause the number of workers per social security recipient to fall

dramatically. In 1960 there were 5.1 social security recipients per worker, today there

are only 3.4 workers for every retiree and when the baby boomers retire there will only

be 2 workers for every recipient of social security.

  • Health Insurance is very different from other insurance products:

    - High cost of setting up a network

    - Higher paperwork cost compared to other types of insurance

    - Unknown risk factors (you can get lung cancer even if you dont smoke)

    - Unknown max payout and number of payouts

    - Increase risk with age

Health care and insurance has never worked. It's no wonder that every country that looked at our system rejected it. We cannot as a nation stay competitive with such a system. It has to change

  • Why the emphasis on bipartisan support? The repubs LOST the last 2 elections, & lost big. Their approval ratings are in the mid to low 30s. A clear majority of Americans favor a strong public option (latest AARP-79% favor), as do doctors. (63%) Why are we watering down the bill for a small group of senators, who mostly represent states w/ small populations , & clearly have a conflict of interest? Repubs DO NOT WANT the dems to fix the health system. It will kill their chances to regain power.

  • your statistics on a public option are wrong. What good does it do to discuss a subject when you aren't honest about the facts? You may be right about some Repubs, however, the reason the People are against the public option, is because it will give the power over our healthcare to the government. Imagine an evil Insurance company having the a complete, unalterable monopoly, authority to make laws, tax, send you to war, imprison and execute, maybe you'll see why we dont like the public option

  • How are his statistics wrong? Explain that. At least he sites a source for one of his statistics. You're just screaming that he's wrong.

Most non-partisan poles do show a slight majority of the country supports a public option.

  • You can scream and rant and throw all the hissy fits you like, but this is a case where "truth has a liberal bias". Name one credible poll that shows people oppose the public option. In the latest CBS poll from Sept 1st, 60% favor the public option, 34% oppose. In the Sept 14th, 2009 report from Kaiser, 73% of docs support a public option. You guys just can't seem to believe that the majority do not agree with you.

  • Note to Senator Olive Oil;....Fuk your

    corporate backers

    It's time for

a change; Its time for you to represent

    the folks of Main.

  • The democratic party has a majority of seats in both houses,,ask yourself why?

Because a majority of the electorate voted for them based on progressive ideas including healthcare ,including a public option, this was a cornerstone of the obama campaign and was no secret,,,democrats had and have a popular mandate

It is how they represent the majority who sent them to washington

  • Many people can and have changed their minds since the 2008 elections.

The stimulus, cap and tax, nationalized health care... all of them are bills that Dems have or wanted to pass quickly even without reading what is in the bill. They know each of those bills contain very far left ideas that never were spoken about in 2008. If Dems were proud of those bills, if they wanted people to know what was in them, they would WANT people to take the time to read them.

  • that is NOT the reason, they talked to local supporters about 'progressive' ideology, but in general elections posed as centrists; while the Republicans had shown themselves inept and corrupt in their refusal to listen to their constituents. The country is majority Conservative, even lib states have more conservatives than any other group; Dems won by appearing more conservative than Republicans and thus won. If you don't believe me look up the polling data, and ask why they hide from 'liberal'

  • This woman is the same woman that voteded for the stimulus bill..under the quise that she had made sure the dems accepted a provsion, that would hold the banks accountable, when all was said and done this woman did not even read the bill..had she ..she would of seen they took her provision out completely yet she did not find out until later with all the rest of us..she is a incompetent idot vote her out in 2010..she does not deserve the position or the trust of the people..

  • snowe is a ship jumper, if this welfare program passes,it would be best with no repubs voting for it so when america see's it fail they have only the dems to blame.

  • I could do without the close-ups of her face, but the message is good.

  • You can take anyone's story and twist it. We "thought" we had great medical insurance? If you don't KNOW what kind of insurance you have, that is not the fault of the insurance company. This is like people who signed mortgages with ARMs and then claimed they did not know. Where has individual responsibility gone these days?

  • yeh im sure the insurance companies volunteered the info that as soon as her husband got very ill he would be cut due to some "pre-existing" condition. What do we need socialized police for? People cant protect them, selves???Fire department?? SOCIALIST!People cant put out their own fires anymore?? Socialized military?? The individual cant fight his own wars now?Your talking points are invalid. Go watch glenn beck you fat fuck.

  • I am not even sure you have any points. Are you arguing for socialized medicine? But I thought that was NOT what the President wanted.

Police, fire protection, and the military are NOT socialized. Your comparison is flawed. Everything that is government run is not socialism.

  • Well then explain to me why the police and fire departments and the military are not socialist programs and healthcare is. I would really like to hear this. What is the difference? They are all funded by taxpayer money. So how is one socialist and the others are not?Explain.

  • Those institutions you mentioned are socialist. The police and the military are prime functions of government - to protect the rights of people from harm coming from home or from abroad, so those are necessary socialist evils.

  • government is also supposed to protect us from greedy corporations hence the "at home" you fuckin retard. By saying that police and fire department are socialist organizations you destroy your platform for argument. I have never been in a fire but I understand that some people are so I have no problem paying for it. Same goes with healthcare.End of discussion.

  • Socialism is an economic concept. Police and fire departments are the function of local governments and controlled by the people who pay for them, (i.e. - the tax payers). You are falsely equating socialism with being funded by tax money. When you take a private industry, like healthcare and health insurance, and the government takes it over for "the benefit of ALL". That is socialism.

  • amazing how fast liberals will hurl the personal insults. Congratulations. Socialism is not an all or nothing proposition. If the government takes half your money, like here in the US, then you have a half socialist state. Its pretty simple.

  • Well if this private industry weren't doing such a poor job of providing healthcare Joe, then the government wouldn't have to step in. Whatever name you call it Joe, socialism, communsim, blah blah blah...if it works for our system, it works.

And just because tax money funds police & fire, you think that doesn't make it a socialist entity?? How you pay for them is irrelevant to their purpose, which is to take our tax money and put it toward "the benefit of all".

  • Respectfully, not everything a government does is socialism. The money is the critical part.

Is the industry doing a poor job? Insurance companies have nothing to do with the deliver of healthcare to individuals. They just help pay for some type of care you get according to the plan YOU buy.

  • No, your definition of socialism is wrong. Socialism is controlling the means of production. Even if the government took over the health insurance industry (and that is NOT what is being proposed btw) it wouldn't be socialism. They'd be taking over the middleman and not controlling either the producer of medicine, nor the end user.

  • Not true! If the government becomes the single PLAYER in health insurance, you will have single PAYER. The government will HAVE to use price controls, salary caps, and rationing to keep costs down. The system will be socialized. Everyone pays in, and everyone has "access" to healthcare as defined by the government. The intent of this reform is to drive out private insurance companies out of the health insurance market.
