  • too slow, boring

  • I live in falkirk all my life and i aint never been on the wheel lol. I been there a million times though. My papa helped to build it tae.

  • So amazing.

Leave it to Scotland to show us the way. =D

And no, i'm no goin' tae abuse ye for I realise that yer jyst a simple teuchter!

  • Very good. My gran is Scottish, but the local Oldham accent has rubbed off on her. It's a queer little cross between the two.

This looks like a fine piece and example of modern engineering, but it looks bloody scary.

  • i went out wiff a lassie near there. Denny lol

  • Yeah it rains 75% of the time but still its an awsome country

  • and if it didnay rain, how wid we be able tay make aw that whiskey?

    ;-)

  • Scotch "Whisky" doesn't have an 'e' in it you ignorant git.

Irish "whiskey" has an 'e' in it!

  • scotland is awsome,, just have to c for urself to realise

  • Yep, I live there. Rainy, but awesome

  • The rain is just bullshit, was there 2 weeks and it only rained 2 days. Damn liars.

  • Well I was there for one week and it pissed down for seven days. Even the locals were moaning. (Argyll)!

  • I live just round the corner from their hah ha

  • its a good experience if ur on the ride :)

  • could it get any slower?

  • dude my house is like right under the wheel down at the bus stop in ochiltree terrace

  • It in scotland you fucking assholes, who cares where it was designed or made, get a grip of your lifes!!!

  • Dont dis the wheel!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's in my home town..and a fab structure!

    Go the Falkirk Wheel!!! Yeah!

  • and some of the lightbulbs wuz made in taiwan

  • es genial

  • So overrated.

  • maybe not !?!?

  • i think it in germanie

  • try scotland

  • Butterley engiinering designed and constructed the wheel. So it was made in England. yes?

  • constructed yes, please view the RMJM website for clarification on the substantial work they carried out with regards to designing this beautiful piece of architecture. I believe the most important point is that it's a BRITISH waterways project, and that's from a resident of Larbert.

  • The canal boats are faster than the wheel, lol. But alas, it is spectacular.

  • hmm, its amazing an all, but why does it have to be so slow, would it weaken the structure quicker over time or something?

  • I absolutely adore this piece of construction...

    I love it!

    And it's ANOTHER Scottish invention...

    Awesome!!

  • made at the Butterley enginering works,Ripley ENGLAND.

  • Architectural services were supplied by Scotland-based RMJM...

  • how the hell could it be made in england if it clearly weighs a lot nd it was made nd invented in scotland like all the good things like the tv nd phones

  • I live in flats RIGHT next to it.

  • How much does it cost to 'get a lift'?

  • Man, what a super idea !

  • about 6min :)

  • It's electric motors use about 22.4 Kw, give or take. Which is pretty minescule.

  • Actually there's not the same amount of water, but both 'gondolas' weigh the same (water+ship) because of Archimedes' principle :)

  • that is such an amazing intervention. I love engineering!!

  • It looks even better if you hum the theme from Thunderbirds when you watch it!

  • intervention? are you retarded?

  • Fun time: Grab the movie slider with your mouse and operate the wheel yourself. Wheee!

  • hahah nice one

  • Lol yeah!!

  • That thing is scary as hell going up

  • That is amazing! That is truly one of the great engineering marvels of the world!

  • That is amazing! It is truly one of the great engineering marvels of the world!

  • thanks for the post.looking forward to visiting in june (2007.)

  • meh ive been on it its boring

  • Graham, Didn't even know there was such a thing until I saw another post earlier today. Yours shows it from a completely different angle. Thanks a lot for the post. What an amazing structure!

  • Awesome! I've seen so many pictures but always wondered what it looked like in action. Thanks for the post!
