Actually, despite Pete's image, he's there for other reasons as well. He absolutely blows at the bass, however, he is the Lyricist for the band. Fall Out Boy's good lyrics and wit would be completely lost if it weren't for Pete Wentz, unfortunately, he doesn't contribute much in the musical aspect of the band.

For God's sake...his bass just sounds terrible...I like the band's studio stuff and the Phoenix concert sounds pretty good, but this just sounds terrible...He's certainly not playing in rhythm and even if he was, he doesn't play the bass correctly...he strums it like a guitar...what a nub.

Guys. Concerts are 30% sounding good, 70% putting on a good show. It's very hard to sing live like you do on the album, due to how much editing happens in the studio (Such as pitch editing, audio track overlapping, mixing, ect).. It's neigh impossible to sound the same live as you do in studio. The only band that comes to mind that does that is Green Day (there are obviously more though). Why? Because their songs are almost totally left untouched after recording (Except for American Idiot)

I think FOB could do good without Pete, maybe even better, he can't play bass. When I searched for Dance Dance, there wasn't even one good live-performance with him. He always fucks up the entire song. Considering that he's the backbone of the band because he writes most of the music, then he should just stick to that job because as a bassplayer he is horrible. Pete doesn't have talent, he has the energy, is a good performer, composer, he just doesn't have playing-talent. The rest are good.

when you record you do vocals on each song separately, at different times, and more than likely on different days. plus there's software like Perfect Pitch, that bends his voice to make him perfect on the recording. you go try to sing a 12 or 13 song set that consists of songs that are ridiculous like that. it's amazing that he even gets anywhere close to where he is. but, i suppose patrick's just amazing like that, so whatever.

I think FOB is among the good bands live like paramore, the asbestos & PATD but really think that the ones I mentioned are better you should check em out for example their acoustic versions: paramore "misery busines", the asbestos "lights, camera & action!" PATD "I write sins not tragedies"
