Permaculture will not be the way forward if society collapses, looters and bandits will simply over run the area take what they need and move on, the only way to survive will be nomadic and a knowledge of every environment will be essential not just deciduous woodland as most bushcrafters seem to limit themselves to.
@luresalive That is so simplistic a viewpoint. Permaculture is one system which many are and will continue to thrive within. Thinking that a lonely nomadic existence is the only future we have is not empowering. The power of community is what we will promote in our movie. Too many movies have promoted the loner in an apocalyptic environment- our vision is much wider than that.
@undercurrentspaulo I completely concur that the idea of permaculture or even a smallholding is nice at the moment but you only have to look around the world to see how community breaks down and gangs and looters literally run riot,also there's nothing "Lovely" about a nomadic existence at all as a matter of fact it's a harder life in many ways and one I would prefer not to have to face, however just look at the riots that ovetook England during the summer to see how society will collapse.
@luresalive you misread my comment- I said lonely not "Lovely". Our movie will not ignore the reality of riots and looters. Our main character will face hardship on his own as a survivalist, however it is with the help of a strong prepared community that he will survive. This is a much more realistic existence than your view that 'the only way to survive will be nomadic'. But we welcome your viewpoints as we want to make a movie which will explore the different views.

@undercurrentspaulo Law will break down,large criminal gangs will run things,( as a lot do today) existence will need to be seasonally/environmentally nomadic just as our ancestors lived. Farming will be difficult as it is a long termsituation and will attract attention from those after a quick meal who will steal everything they can to survive.Personal protection would be better in a gang but personal survival would be better as an individual,however would you be willing to leave your family?
sounds good but...do you think the federal government and the police state is just going to let you grow your own food and live in a nirvana? have you seen lately what they are doing to organic coops?
once the dollar collapses and the NDAA kicks in, then good luck with your nirvana!!!
survival and combat is going to be on the agenda or being detained at guantanamo or some other FEMA camp in the US!

@wdcsucks1 the Feds have always used a hammer to crush positive movements - but this has never stopped new movements arising.People have to create their own world. It is little use believing that growing our own food and building our communities is a waste of time. They can't kill the spirit
@undercurrentspaulo i agree with you but, this spirit had to be lived much sooner, today people are to dependent and the big clash is coming soon. the passing of the NDAA a week ago in the senate and FEMA activating slowly their camps is a sign for something they are preparing in the near future. the message of being self-sufficient should get out their as quick as possible!
@wdcsucks1 Exactly which is why we are making this film. It will be an educational entertaining movie showing how some people are already prepared for the crash.

Bet you could get free meals and lodging at places you visit and film at across the USA. Lots of preppers and people doing WROL scenarios on youtube that might be willing to participate in this project.
