2000 was a sad year for me. Ken Griffey Jr got traded to the Reds, and the Kingdome got imploded. I remember being 5 years old and watching my first Mariners game in the Kingdome. It disheartens me that this happened. Yes, the Kingdome had problems, but I considered it MY stadium. The Mariners are MY team. Even though I'm in Atlanta, I still root for the M's, never ever the Braves. The one consolation prize for the year 2000 was the M's went to the playoffs.

The funny part is that the city of Seattle is still paying for the Kingdome, and thatss not the implosion. There still paying for then it got built back in the 1970s and its now 2011. last i check the city still has 5Mil to pay off on the back lone

I have a chunk of the Kingdome on my porch, I use it as a door stop. Everyone thinks it's just think it's an old chunk of concrete, thus no one would bother stealing such a piece of history. Amazing the things in life right in front of our noses. :-)
