  • incredible job*

  • This is a very informational video Ryan! Great job!

  • Thanks Joc

  • you are a good man, period. chossing the right words is hard. there are very few words that are always improper, if any. some words are good or bad, depending on the intent of the person who uses them. i hope no one reallly thinks you are a bigot; it is clear you aren't.

  • I don't think people won't say that. I didn't do it to cover my ass. I did it because I was throwing the terms around, but didn't say it was generally not too good of an idea to do that.

  • yes, I call this the PLatimun Rule- Treat Others the Way they want to be treated. If a word is offensive and another word is better, fine with us eh?

  • depends on the parties involved. If you called me a retard, I'd call you out. If you were a random person I'd be like yah whatever

  • I don't view it as a problem. Most people are probably unaware of the term. And mentally-retarded, as you said, is a medical term so its not incorrect. Sub mental is a different story.

  • Mentally retarded is a legit term, but people really shouldn't use it, unless they are in a medical setting. There is a case to be made that the person should have a medical title behind that even before using it.

  • The problem is that no two people can ever agree on preferred words, and then they change all the time. I don't believe that Mr. Cropper was referring to truly mentally retarded people in his Taco Bell references.

  • Neither do I, I understand what Cropper meant but it wasn't the right wording he should've used. He was just referring to... well dumb people on general. But to use the term retarded for that I don't believe is correct because I believe he was using retarded as a general term for handicapped, some of these "handicapped" people don't really have any problems. I would consider someone with savants gifted really. But I'm sure theres an argument against that.

  • Even the term handicapped is not an acceptable term these days. The debate between if savants are gifted vs not is out there. I am not familiar with it. I think its like savants just get lucky, but don't quote me

  • But if someone knows what disorder or disability the person has, are they still not allowed to use the medical term? And if handicapped is not even accepted it limits the person even more. It sounds like political correctivity to the extreme.

  • Argh my comment was eaten. If somebody has disability x, and there are slangs y,z,a, and b, that person can pick what to go by.

An example, African American (AA), there's that, black, and the N word. Some AA can call each other the N word cause they share community. I couldn't call any AA the N word, but I could maybe call a buddy that once I get an ok.

  • Great video. You're brilliant, and it's a shame that some people are too ignorant to hear you out. I am almost intimidated really...I've spoken with you many a time, and I bet you could out-debate me anyday on just about anything

  • oh you, too kind. Why be intimidated? Why? Hope to talk to you in a few. :)

We should do that collab vid soon.

  • Great Video Sir Ryan and thank you for the info I had no clue .. I for one am so glad that I can call you a friend ...Travis

  • Thanks Travis. Yes a lot of people don't know, which is why I made it.
