I have a question. Why do some people play an open E to a 1st fret on the E string meanwhile others just play 2 open E's during the main riff? I've seen both ways and I'm just wondering if Cliff played both ways.

I think it's about the tuning. One version is in standard E tuning and another is in Eb tuning.
