@Brightgalrs lol you're right I'm a dumbass. You can tell I was doing stuff while watching the video and didn't pay attantion, because Randi says "we'll reveal to our audience" haha.
"well it's quite possible that ammmmm this is been the first time that i've ever attended this, aaaand it's quite possible that i've allowed myself to cum in to it" said the guy to his girlfriend.
No you are not skeptical. You accept psychic powers without evidence and claim that he hasn't proven them wrong, the burden of proof lies with you not with him...
@fastwritename Erm, what are you talking about? Where did I say anything like this in my comment? But maybe you think you have telepathic abilities and can read my mind? So, maybe it's time for you to meet Randi? :-D
@fastwritename But to clarify: I did not claim that he hasn't proven them wrong, I was sceptical whether these people were claimed psychics at all, or whether they were simply payed actors in Randi's show, who do their "I'm a loser" playing according to Randi's script. Sorry, I don't know whether psychic power is possible or not, but what I am certain about is that I won't take a magician like Randi as a trustworthy source of information to help me come to a decision.
Nice show! But how can I know that this isn't more than just a show? Is this man a well-known (admitted) psychic? This all looks a bit too well-organized to me, and the behavior of the man isn't very convincing, in particular after he has been exposed. There are no surprises, everything works as if it has been scripted by Randi to meet the limited time of the broadcast. Same for the other versions of Psychic Investigator I've seen. After all, Randi is a professional show man. So I am sceptical!
@gerby90 No, I'm only skeptical towards Randi. People here seem to believe anything he says or does as if he would be the highest authority and the most trustworthy person in this regard. But these people seem to forget that he has earned his money for decades from show and tricking people. Investigations on whether psychic abilities are possible or not is the job of scientists, not of a magician.
@LaughingStock71 Science is not dependent upon the person conducting the experiment. A proper experiment can be conducted by anyone, so long as they follow the strict guidelines of said experiment. You do not have to trust Randi in order to trust the experiment. If you have an objection regarding the techniques of the experiment, please state them clearly with supporting reason. If you still want to believe in hocus-pocus, fine, but stop pretending that you are interested in the truth,
@JesusChristsDick So what do you want to express here? It's been on television, probably at prime-time, where Millions of people watch, so it must be a well-conducted experiment following strict scientific guidelines? Do you think Randi did this all for finding the "truth"? Well, even if Randi, I would hardly expect that the broadcasting company that has produced this show would be on the same truth finding path, as it is typically not truth-seeking that TV companies are created for...
@LaughingStock71 I already replied to you and I see no reason to change the content of my statement. What I wanted to express, I expressed. There's no such thing as psychics. You're a mental midget if you believe otherwise.
@JesusChristsDick For the last time now: None of my comments had anything to do with whether psychics exist or not. And there is absolutely no reason to bring this topic up again and again and even be insulting. I was referring only to this particular TV broadcast. I was asking whether someone knows this (other) James in the show. There are many faked "reality TV" shows on air making people believe it's all real, all I was wondering was whether this show was one of them or not.
@LaughingStock71 non-truth-seeking isn't exactly the guideline TV producers follow. It is more in line with making-money-when-you-cut-to-commercial and accepting-government-grants-through-educational-programs and oh-fuck-we-got-censored-because-we-didn't-pay-for-adult-license. They are neutral to truth, but if it makes them money, why not?
@LaughingStock71 So your prepared to accept that people can be frauds. Good. People are very gullible and easily tricked. See Psychics, homeopathy, etc... for traditional cons.
@LaughingStock71 The biggest difference is that Randi never claimed any psychic ability. He openly called himself a magician.Magicians operate on illusion and tricks. Everyone goes to a magic show knowing they will be fooled, people go to a psychic believing they won`t be fooled but given the truth.
@spiderman241069 Heaven and hell! Among the whole bunch of "answers" I got is not a single one that goes down to my point! So once again: Does anybody know this "James" (that one who claims to be psychic)? Is he a well-known person? Or is he just some arbitrary "James X" who appears in this show as an arbitrary example for someone claiming to be psychic? In the latter case (and only then), I would be concerned that this whole TV show might be just fake: scripted, with actors playing psychics.
@LaughingStock71 It may well be scripted but you are just surmising on that one.In any case,Randi has put the challenge out there to anyone who can prove their claim and he is backing himself with 1 mill.No "psychic" has ever taken the offer. It is BS plain and simple.
The best thing about Randi is that he rarely comes out and calls people frauds (Uri Geller doesn't count as "people".) He's just says, "Well, it didn't work this time. This method doesn't work under these conditions." and let's them wallow in his humility.

When you can see the people behind the curtains, that raises the odds of correctly guessing them tremendously. The girl and the short guy alone give you 2/5, plus whoever else you get right.
No, it's 0.000000001% chance and to answer your question, the reader would have to repeat this test about 1 billion times to pass the preliminary and formal test by dumb luck.....
I'm sure Randi is not willing to give away $1,000,000 for something that has a 1% chance of working (in that case, he would be flooded with requests and would end up giving it away before long by pure luck), so I wonder how many times the reader would have needed to get a perfect read to win.
The guy on A kind of looks like John Scopes. Right now I'm just wondering if these so called Aura readers can turn their powers on and off. I'm assuming that it would get annoying after a while seeing every single person with a vibrant haze surrounding them.
i can see auras, i regulary see a varity of colors coming off of people bodies, especailly blue, green, and yellow. Also off of bold colors i see auras, like when i am driving, i see blue or purple coming off of the yellow lines on the road. or when i see something bright red i often see green light coming off of it. i saw an orange cone yesterday glowing blue light.
Beat the odds but i say its a fail. Plus, he has a glimpse of each kids height. True aura can be felt... As for being seen, you need a camera. But for the naked eye, i havnt heard of one who can.
@guitarsuperman23 I don't know though...but some people (actually quite a few) claim that auras have colors (depending on their mood and all that stuff, red, blue, purple, etc.) and can be seen with the third eye (in the middle of the forehead...). You can actually stick a penny or a coin (penny works best) in the center of your forehead because of electronegativity waves in your brain (or something like that)
@guitarsuperman23 "But for the naked eye, i havnt heard of one who can." Put on a light (not too bright, but bright enough), then face a dark background (it should look almost completely black); take your two index fingers and slowly wave them around near each other. At first youl start to see a sort of distorted outline, and eventually youl see some staticky looking lights. I don't know if, and I can't say if; it is indeed an aura, but all I know is thats what I see....
I believe in being able to see aura's.. It is scientifically proven that everyone and everything has an aura... surely there are people that can see them.. I've seen my own aura before..
@FrankSlade1983 noo really. there is. i googled it. and I saw mine one time when I learned how to see my aura in a youtube video. I stared a really long time and I saw a purple aura around my face. Then when I moved my eyes it went away. It was kinda cool. (:
That's not an aura. Your eyes distort whatever you're looking at if you look at it too long. It went away because you moved your eyes. Still waiting for that proof.
The guy in the video DOESN'T see them. He's what some of us call "liars", I don't know if you've heard that term before. Also, I did look up those cameras you were talking about, and this same guy (James Randi) has offered a scientific explanation on why it has nothing to do with auras. You should really do more research before you talk out of your ass.
@thinker1212 "I had three right based on the size and shape of the people . . ."
I believe it.
Go back to 0:18 and, with hindsight, you can see that A is short and long haired and there is a hint of skirt. B, E and D are tallest, so C would be the only short male. Not quite clearly seen is that B has the bulkier clothes (later he is only one with jacket), D has a long, thin neck.
Randi was generous with this one. He could have put them all in a conga line behind a single letter, and then this guy would have no excuse at all for not catching on.
How could he screw up Helen. That guy is plain dumb! Randi made this test a little too easy in my opinion. An intelligent individual could guess it quite easily. They should at least be the same height and the same gender or avoid showing their sillhouettes at the beginning.
@CL1TMAN You are completely ignoring the fact that he was turned aronud when the silhouettes where shown. Randi says himself, "I'm going to reveal to our audience", so yes, the idea was that the audience would know, but the aura reader wouldn't.
I could have done better. From the silhouettes you can get A and C correct, A is obvioisly a women and C is short. Then you only have three to guess correctly which you have a 1/27 chance of getting correct. You could also better your odds by estimating the time it takes them to walk from their position to the side.
LOL Helen came from D? Honestly? Who, with half a brain, or half an eye for that matter, doesn't see the hair in the beginning behind screen A? Is he stupid or what?
I really don't understand why James the aura reader doesn't just admit he's lying or he can't see auras through objects. Does he really think he's got a chance at guessing properly?
@Jrezky James Randi explained this in his books. Basically, there are known psychological and psychomotor reactions that go into this. Dowsers, for example, literally believe they feel a force turning the wires when they're doing it themselves, and studies have shown that normal people will believe this when prodded in the right way- it's just a fact of the human brain. These people must believe evidence over their own experiences, which you can imagine is quite hard to do when you believe.
After he predicted the first 1, I knew exactly what order he'd predict the rest in. He chose to go as random as possible. D and c together allows him to go to a, then e and lastly b... He sucks
Mr aura-viewer sounded pretty confident... and he would have known that if he was a scammer that he'd be made a fool of like he was... so what is it? Does he have a medical problem with his vision? Is he schizophrenic?
what an idiot its pretty obvious that the woman is standing in position A when they show them at the beginning. i know hes full of shit but how did he get that one wrong?
@AnImmortalEra Who cares at what speed they walked? The point is you could see where each one was before they moved. I still remember the girl was all the way to the left at A having watched this 16 hours ago. Why would how fast she walks matter?
@AnImmortalEra I don't need to look again. You need to THINK again. I asked you why you didn't get all 5 correct, and your answer is because the other guy had his back turned and couldn't see. You didn't have your back turned, so you clearly have a huge advantage over the guy who saw nothing. That is my obvious point.
@jshowa4 I guess but if you hypothetically put aside all the rough measurements of time etc you would still be chance be able to get more than 2. I got 3 on my first try. This demonstration is really poor.
@TaiFerret yea dude for real. It's just a matter of chance and you can easily get more than 3 if you due tricks like look at the silhouette or count the time they take to get from position a to position b
@1MadVirus1 His back was turned when the screen was lit up to show the participants silhouette. There's no way he would have been allowed to see their size/shape before he assigned their positions without compromising the test.
@1Lex17 He seemed pretty confident that he could see auras too. He still got three out of the five wrong. Even if he can see auras, you couldn't rely on any information he gave you and if you can't rely on it, what good is it?
lol, when the woman came out I said "She was in spot A". I mean it's super obvious, just pause at :19.

@CL1TMAN You are completely ignoring the fact that he was turned aronud when the silhouettes where shown. Randi says himself, "I'm going to reveal to our audience", so yes, the idea was that the audience would know, but the aura reader wouldn't.
danniphilia 4 months ago
@danniphilia Oh. Thanks. Didn' t notice that at all. Well that makes much more sense.
CL1TMAN 4 months ago
@CL1TMAN he never saw the silhouettes... only the audience did.

I love Andrews glasses oldschool ftw.
zurikaten 4 months ago
The aura reader wouldn't have seen the silhouettes. Would have been invalid had he seen them.
WirlWind494 4 months ago
If James was actually shown the silhouettes, the test would be unscientific. They were only shown to the audience.
Bleumange 4 months ago
how the fuck does he not get this right.....you can fucking tell where they were by the shadows....
bl3achR0ckz 4 months ago
@bl3achR0ckz The shadows were for the audience only.
openbath 4 months ago
@bl3achR0ckz The silhouettes are only revealed to the audience.
Bleumange 4 months ago
Lawl. You can guess the girl's position buy her height and the others buy the time it takes to step out of the screen.
WrathOfEnd 4 months ago
I could have done better. From the silhouettes you can get A and C correct, A is obvioisly a women and C is short. Then you only have three to guess correctly which you have a 1/27 chance of getting correct. You could also better your odds by estimating the time it takes them to walk from their position to the side.
sc23uk 4 months ago
You can guess the woman's position only by silhouette.
palermodpr 4 months ago
LOL Helen came from D? Honestly? Who, with half a brain, or half an eye for that matter, doesn't see the hair in the beginning behind screen A? Is he stupid or what?
MarlosZappa 4 months ago
@MarlosZappa the silhouettes were only shown to the audience.
Bleumange 4 months ago
@Bleumange In that case, OK.
MarlosZappa 4 months ago
Seriously the heights and builds are so we a dead give away alone, the girl I already new was A.
JediGoddessChristy 4 months ago
this test sucks their is only 120 positions 1/120 is pretty damn high compared to any lottery
s577151 4 months ago
I really don't understand why James the aura reader doesn't just admit he's lying or he can't see auras through objects. Does he really think he's got a chance at guessing properly?
Jrezky 4 months ago
@Jrezky James Randi explained this in his books. Basically, there are known psychological and psychomotor reactions that go into this. Dowsers, for example, literally believe they feel a force turning the wires when they're doing it themselves, and studies have shown that normal people will believe this when prodded in the right way- it's just a fact of the human brain. These people must believe evidence over their own experiences, which you can imagine is quite hard to do when you believe.
7j8i9m 4 months ago
After he predicted the first 1, I knew exactly what order he'd predict the rest in. He chose to go as random as possible. D and c together allows him to go to a, then e and lastly b... He sucks

How did he not know that the woman was "A"? You can tell by the silhouette that it was a female.

@fuckcalgarysucks
????
Do you really think that he was permitted to see the shadows behind him.
Such was obviously illustrative - giving the audience a preview of the impending stupidity.

Where can I get one of those hats?
KyleWStephens 6 months ago
@jshowa4 my point exactly, you can by chance should be able to still get more than 2. Like I said, I got 3, more than the so called aura reader.
AnImmortalEra 6 months ago
@AnImmortalEra But you could see where they were... you should be asking why you didn't get all 5 lol.
thelister4910 6 months ago
@thelister4910 Yes, but some of them deliberately walked at different speeds so that factor is taken out of the equation.
AnImmortalEra 6 months ago
@AnImmortalEra Who cares at what speed they walked? The point is you could see where each one was before they moved. I still remember the girl was all the way to the left at A having watched this 16 hours ago. Why would how fast she walks matter?
thelister4910 6 months ago
@thelister4910 Yes correct but if you look again he asked the aura dude to turn back, so he couldn't see them anyway.
AnImmortalEra 6 months ago
@AnImmortalEra I don't need to look again. You need to THINK again. I asked you why you didn't get all 5 correct, and your answer is because the other guy had his back turned and couldn't see. You didn't have your back turned, so you clearly have a huge advantage over the guy who saw nothing. That is my obvious point.
thelister4910 6 months ago
@thelister4910 yea, HUGE advantage. BCD&E look practically identical. Big F*cking advantage.
AnImmortalEra 6 months ago
@AnImmortalEra Relax man... I and the other 3 people I showed this too all got 100% correct. Because we can see who is who.
thelister4910 6 months ago
@thelister4910 I and the other 2 people got 3. Congrats for getting lucky.
AnImmortalEra 6 months ago
@jshowa4 I guess but if you hypothetically put aside all the rough measurements of time etc you would still be chance be able to get more than 2. I got 3 on my first try. This demonstration is really poor.
AnImmortalEra 6 months ago
lmfao I got 3 out of 5 correct...........
AnImmortalEra 6 months ago
@AnImmortalEra If everyone who watched this tried this, some of them will have them all correct.
TaiFerret 6 months ago
@TaiFerret yea dude for real. It's just a matter of chance and you can easily get more than 3 if you due tricks like look at the silhouette or count the time they take to get from position a to position b

@1MadVirus1 His back was turned when the screen was lit up to show the participants silhouette. There's no way he would have been allowed to see their size/shape before he assigned their positions without compromising the test.
