  • @brieman2 watch the Fallout 3 trailer :) and while your at it buy the game. Because that song is epic!

  • I'm only 12... i love these songs. now it's all about dirty stuff. what happen to the world? These songs are just amazing and very soothing and definately romantic.

  • I was born in 1933 and these wonderful songs brought back many memories of my formative years. Please make a version with the songs being played much longer. Thank you very much.

  • These are the songs I heard from the Radios that were playing in Chicago and across the country. I was not even a teen ager yet. I Don't Want to Set the World On fire was very bpopular along with Paper Doll. My name is Bill.

  • I dont want to set the world on fire sounds so creepy sounds like something from a game or movie like bioshock

  • Nowadays the pop songs that are "hot" are all about sex, foul language, death, torture, and meaningless things. Sigh. I wish I lived in the past, where the world isn't corrupted so badly, where love is simple, yet fascinating. Where the music which are hot aren't boring, meaningless pop songs. I will never forget how fallout 3 brought me to the 40s, and I'll never forget I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire.

  • @Megatravian Nowadays music are a lot about money too.

  • i love how their voices sound, they're all just so unique

  • 3 dog sent me here

  • Good Times

  • And women were women.

  • @paletta4788 haha yeah really

  • Very nice compilation but one correction. @5.06 , the great end of the war song, It's Been A Long, Long Time" was indeed Harry James Orch but the girl singer was Kitty Kallen, not Helen Forrest.

  • I wish I could make you feel what it was like back then, my grandpa listened to all the songs from the 30, 40, 50's loved and sang all music. My dad loved and sang country, my mom loved the 50's so my life was music. It was like..it was way, way slower, every song was a special experience, people stopped and listened, they were totally in the moment, the smells of cooking, hopeful, greeted each other, smiled even if times were bad. Gosh I wish you could feel it. There was much laughter:)

  • being a musician i appreciate your giving me the idea of how these songs should sound. half of them i never heard before.

  • AMAZING

  • Ahhhhh...what a walk down memory lane. I was born in 1951, but I can close my eyes and still see my Mom and Dad in each others arms, dancing in our living room, playing these songs which were the songs they fell in love to. Thanks for taking me back :)

  • We all were born bak then we just don't remember

  • @exkiller21 Sure.

  • Only if we had a chance to be born back in them days . . .

  • i totally agree - wish i was part of the 40's/50's x

  • yes i wasnt born then but i wish i was , these songs are just wonderfull, what genre are these music in, i mean ther called ?

  • I can not think of a time I would rather have been born without greatly expanding the fantasy. Born in 1943 my Mother and Dad introduced me to so many of the great sounds of the 30's and 40's. With a constant flow of country available I then grew up with Rockabilly, THE ORIGIONAL Rock and Roll, Doo Wop, Popular Folk Music, Motown and then the 70's. The 70's with Disco etc, took me almost 2 more decades to appreciate. Since the 70's it has been slim pickins for me.

  • Listening to these beautiful songs brings tears to my eyes. Thank you so very much for having put them up for all of us to enjoy. (1935-only God knows when......)

  • I love being in 2011. I get to listen to the oldest recorded music, to the oldest written music from the 13th-21'st centuries. I feel i've already been apart of the past centuries, and am thankful to see the beautiful things we have today, although many problems and negative feelings exist more today. To see the space shuttle launch into space, and to see our technology is beautiful. Im 19 and am proud to live in this most current moment in time.

  • @Aic1944 very well said, my friend. Your statement is quite meaningful.

  • @thangcohon Thanks for the kind words, means alot.

  • songs nowadays are so angry or sad or something that is really overly strong these songs are rlaxing and just right

  • Interesting decade not very spectacular

  • i was bornin 1940 in 43 i heard music i love to day the times were good war took my daddy a way.but i was happy child even with ration and bad news.Music helped make it.GOD help make a better world an our troops bless them all

  • SOME MUSIC LOVERS ARE ENGAGE WITH THEIR ASTUTE DEDICATION & VAST KNOWLEDGE TO SAVE THE MUSICAL HERITAGE. WE SHOULD NOT FEAR THE TIME’S RAVAGE IN THIS NOISY AGE.

NOTHING CAN DAMAGE THE TRUE MUSIC OR ITS IMAGE.

  • What talent there was in the 40s. I'm sorry but it doesn't exist today, but we can still listen to this wonderful music. Dream on.

  • I'm 16 right now and I miss the old time classic love songs like these. Love songs nowadays aren't soulful but words thrown together so they can produce another album. Man, if only they could do a month of the year, doesn't matter which. When they change all the radio stations to old classics and only air the news and those shows before 2000. i wonder how America would react to that.

  • New york,New york?

  • i wasnt born till the late 50s but i no most of these

  • listening to this makes me wonder how it all ends up to the likes of lady gaga... y o y?

  • THANKS! downloaded songs using this video! great listening treat for my parents!

  • only forever

  • The happy people, booming economy, no stupid rap, beautiful music, my god I wish I could spend just a day in the 40s.

Besides the war, it looked like major fun to live back then.

  • @H3Forge booming economy???

  • @futrico69

    Yes.

The Great Depression was ended because of the war production, the US Economy shot up ridiculously because of all of the war machines being built. Look it up

  • @H3Forge me to

  • @H3Forge Gotta be careful if your black to go back that far lol it would be nice tho

  • 1:24

    FALLOUT(:

  • I LOVE that Logan, UTAH has a radio station that plays all these songs! I absolutely love it! I've tried to get them to put it on-line, but to no avail thus far. Maybe you can write in and suggest they do too. KLGN are their call letters.

  • @vilate77

I live in Utah! What station is it? Thanks :)

That is a very bold statement, don't omit the bad parts, you must remember that the 40's were terrible in many ways.

  • @lolaaex people in 2040 will say i wish i lived in 2011 lol youll see=)

  • @lolaaex lol me to but im 9

  • I cant help but think of Bioshock when i listen to this.

  • Fallout made me love 40's music. It's nice to know some people focus on making quality things that immerse you in history and a different time period, and make you fall in love with it.

  • I love this music, Just Wonderful

  • Err... Aside form the music, I don't think any of you would really had preferred the 40s... It wasn't all easy and snazzy >_> But hey, great music!

  • These people can sing. Unlike lady gaga and justin beiber. Prettiest singing ive ever heard.

  • wish i could sing like the women from this era

  • Very bdal

    Kuwait

  • Thank you for helping me do some research lovely songs and a nice mix of groups

  • This is real memory stuff, I was shipped out of the bombing in London and brought up on bread and milk for afters we had this sustaining music to ease the strain. Brilliant just roll on more.
