I'm only 12... i love these songs. now it's all about dirty stuff. what happen to the world? These songs are just amazing and very soothing and definately romantic.
I was born in 1933 and these wonderful songs brought back many memories of my formative years. Please make a version with the songs being played much longer. Thank you very much.
These are the songs I heard from the Radios that were playing in Chicago and across the country. I was not even a teen ager yet. I Don't Want to Set the World On fire was very bpopular along with Paper Doll. My name is Bill.
Nowadays the pop songs that are "hot" are all about sex, foul language, death, torture, and meaningless things. Sigh. I wish I lived in the past, where the world isn't corrupted so badly, where love is simple, yet fascinating. Where the music which are hot aren't boring, meaningless pop songs. I will never forget how fallout 3 brought me to the 40s, and I'll never forget I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire.
Very well done!! I can remember being on leave during the War, Dancing at the Streatham Locarno too all that music and a revolving stage with 2 big bands playing the guns blazing away at Gerry planes flying over London. So many memories Thanks again.
Very nice compilation but one correction. @5.06 , the great end of the war song, It's Been A Long, Long Time" was indeed Harry James Orch but the girl singer was Kitty Kallen, not Helen Forrest.
all theese songs take me back to a most wonderfull time of music. they are as soothing, to my heart and soul today as they have been in the 1940,s Why O Why cant recording artists of today compose, play, sing like this? I wish I could make you feel what it was like back then, my grandpa listened to all the songs from the 30, 40, 50's loved and sang all music. My dad loved and sang country, my mom loved the 50's so my life was music. It was like..it was way, way slower, every song was a special experience, people stopped and listened, they were totally in the moment, the smells of cooking, hopeful, greeted each other, smiled even if times were bad. Gosh I wish you could feel it. There was much laughter:)
im 13, african-american, and to me, this is the greatest music ever made. i dont even listen to mainstream rap...AT ALL!!! i hate lil wayne, drake, nicki minaj, and all of the mainstream music now and days...FRANK SiNATRA, DEAN MARTiN, PERRy COMO, JiMMy STEWART, AND AlfRED HiTCHCOCk are my idols and im proud to say that.

Ahhhhh...what a walk down memory lane. I was born in 1951, but I can close my eyes and still see my Mom and Dad in each others arms, dancing in our living room, playing these songs which were the songs they fell in love to. Thanks for taking me back :)
I can not think of a time I would rather have been born without greatly expanding the fantasy. Born in 1943 my Mother and Dad introduced me to so many of the great sounds of the 30's and 40's. I love being in 2011. I get to listen to the oldest recorded music, to the oldest written music from the 13th-21'st centuries. Fallout made me love 40's music. It's nice to know some people focus on making quality things that immerse you in history and a different time period, and make you fall in love with it.
This is real memory stuff, I was shipped out of the bombing in London and brought up on bread and milk for afters we had this sustaining music to ease the strain. Brilliant just roll on more.
@brieman2 watch the Fallout 3 trailer :) and while your at it buy the game. Because that song is epic!
