  • This was a great band to watch live during my time at Texas Tech. My older brother told me about them and we actually had The Nelsons come to San Antonio to play our Senior Prom at Clark High School in 1987. Rest in peace Donnie, thanks for the great music! MTK

  • RIP Donnie. I saw these guys play a lot of frat parties and bars at Tech back in the early 80s.

Bass player in those days and in this video was a guy named Dennis Jones, from El Paso, who left the band not long after the MTV Basement Tapes thing.

  • Godspeed Donnie, thanks for the music and for inspiring a whole generation of Lubbock rock and roll types.

  • RIP Donnie. You and your talents will be missed. Thanks for the memories and the opportunity to be on MTV with you guys. I will forever cherish the memories.

  • R.I.P Donnie.

  • If I remember correctly, this was an MTV "Basement Tapes" winner. (Basement Tapes was a competition program from the early 80s where indie bands sent in their self-made videos. Guadalcanal Diary was another entrant.)

  • I grew up with these guys, That's Donnie Allison on lead vocals. A lot of this was filmed at Monterey High School. This the Band Donnie was in after Impeccable. I wonder if anyone can name the rest of the band or the other bass player Eddie....

  • I believe most of The Nelson's are still in Lubbock. My Unlce is the lead singer and he still lives and preforms in Lubbock.

  • Whatever happened to the Nelsons? Last I saw 'em was Lee Park in ninety-something.

  • WOW. I haven't seen this video in at least 25 years. Awesome.
