There are ethnic khmer living in Vietnam, but they are just one of the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam, together they are Vietnamese. The term khmer krom is coined by a few shameful cambodian who want to claim land that does not belong to them.

What is the truth then? It is a reality that Khmer Krom people have been /are Oppressed by the Viet-Hanoi government, since the early 1800's they have committed genocide and have chased them off their lands, closed down Khmer Schools and have implemented laws that restrict Khmer Krom people from attaining Khmer identity, culture, and from practicing their religion! The Viet made my grandparents change their family name. I have since changed it back to Khmer and I will make sure I destroy it!

I had an opportunity to visit the Khmer Krom areas in Tra Vinh last year. I met the most wonderful people in my life there. I was welcomed to a Buddhist temple for tea. I felt as if I was at home. I felt even more belonging to local Khmer people than some people of my own Vietnamese race. I can testify that they were oppressed and discriminated against by the local government. There were some Vietnamese Northerners in my trip. On the other hand, I found no common with these folks at all.

Year after year, the VN government reject their voices, calls and recommendations on helping their people's suffering. Cambodia already turn blind eye.
