sytycd has a significant amount of success giving a huge platform to release some of there songs that would have never charted on their own. with out the show.. . great songs.
I really thought this was one of those records nobody should EVER cover, much less pop divas. Actually, now that I think of it, I'd have said people shouldn't cover R.E.M. at all.
So I was watching SYTYCD, and when I saw the words "Everybody Hurts" and "Tina Arena" on the screen, my first reaction was "NOOOOOOOOOOOO," but it's really quite lovely. I have to hand it to you, Tina. Well done. And thanks to Jason Gilkison as well, for spreading this bit of culture further round the world.
This arrangement is fantastic. Yes, I heard it SYTYCD, too. I'd never heard Tina before and now would like to hear more of her music. The choreography of the dance fit the emotion of Tina's recording to a tee!
No disrespect to R.E.M but its almost like a song can evolve when other people cover it and I really fell that Tina's version just makes is more beautiful and takes it to another place without taking away what the song stands for...

She is good, no doubt. But this belongs to REM. And only REM can perform it the best. She doesn't fit this song imo.
