Yeah man, you're right. Although I do throw kicks at peoples head and many pushing type kicks to peoples body, one thing I learned is that kicks should be thrown low. In original Karate, there was no kicks thrown above the waist, also Karate was based around a single strike, the Karate straight punch to the face, many other moves are used in Karate, but that is the most common way of KO in legit Karate competitions, like Shotokan

You will notice that DekkerS is unable to make any combo, always late in comparison of his opponant, unable to prevent him from moving. Pennachio has a far better strategy and is using the ring in a far more efficient way. Pennachio is scoring far more hits than Dekkers and was never in danger. For memory Savate is not a professionnal boxing only amator.

Ohh i dont know about that, i took tkd for 5 years and it didnt get me anywhere....then again it could have been just a shit club, as all we trained for was competition, we didn't learn nothing that could work on the street, iv been doing WC for about 3 months and already i have learned a shit load more than my 5 years of tkd for real self defense.
There are lots of poor Taekwondo clubs that focus on sparring and point fighting (a la ATA). But there are also some very good Taekwondo clubs orgs (the one I belong to) that produce top caliber students and great fighters.
I still believe many of the Korean fighters would eat an average savate fighter alive.
im not putting down your club, but from my experience, the forms or kata or whatever their called, cant remember, the moves from them were so unpractical, like when you step all thw way forward putting all the weight in the front leg and lifting your arm up, which i suppose is supposed to be a block, well thats not gonna work on the street, and neither is high kicking, does your club actually teach any practical self defence, i.e, focus on centreline, sim attack and defence, low kicks etc?
Depends on what you mean by practical self defense. I know several fellow taekwondoists who have used it to defend themselves. Just because it doesn't use the same principles as wing chung doesn't mean it doesn't work. WC is what it is. Not my cup of tea.
Tang soo do is a little too stiff and linear for me. I prefer Taekwondo personally.

Jujitsu is a grappling MA and also isn't right for MMA. I doubt any single sport is right for MMA, that's why you see so many fighters who train in multiple styles. ya'know, to be a well rounded fighter they need to learn both a striking and grappling martial art.
also i bet savat and muay thai practitioners at the same skill level would be evenly matched, as a fan of martial arts you should know it's not the style, it's the fighter.

Look at what English Boxing looked like at the beginning of the 20th century you will also have surprised... It's also very laughable... Savate was invented during the 18th century, codified end of the 19th ... I recommend you to look at the fight in kickboxing rules of Ramon Dekker, Muay Thai Lumpini Stadium champion and Pennachio Savate champion... It's on you tube... You will learn a few things...Martial art were also ridiculous at the beginning of 20th century...

So much for me, nevertheless have a look at the video it's called Savate Vs Muay Thaï... Fight in traditional KB rules (No Knees no elbow...) You will notice that DekkerS is unable to make any combo, always late in comparison of his opponant, unable to prevent him from moving. Pennachio has a far better strategy and is using the ring in a far more efficient way. Pennachio is scoring far more hits than Dekkers and was never in danger. For memory Savate is not a professionnal boxing only amator.

Ohh i dont know about that, i took tkd for 5 years and it didnt get me anywhere....then again it could have been just a shit club, as all we trained for was competition, we didn't learn nothing that could work on the street, iv been doing WC for about 3 months and already i have learned a shit load more than my 5 years of tkd for real self defense.

There are lots of poor Taekwondo clubs that focus on sparring and point fighting (a la ATA). But there are also some very good Taekwondo clubs orgs (the one I belong to) that produce top caliber students and great fighters.
I still believe many of the Korean fighters would eat an average savate fighter alive.

im not putting down your club, but from my experience, the forms or kata or whatever their called, cant remember, the moves from them were so unpractical, like when you step all thw way forward putting all the weight in the front leg and lifting your arm up, which i suppose is supposed to be a block, well thats not gonna work on the street, and neither is high kicking, does your club actually teach any practical self defence, i.e, focus on centreline, sim attack and defence, low kicks etc?

Depends on what you mean by practical self defense. I know several fellow taekwondoists who have used it to defend themselves. Just because it doesn't use the same principles as wing chung doesn't mean it doesn't work. WC is what it is. Not my cup of tea.
Tang soo do is a little too stiff and linear for me. I prefer Taekwondo personally.

a proper TKD spinning heel kick can crack a human skull. its not that it doesn't work its more that the risk is far to high. in gerneral all kicks in fights are high risk. it's easy to loose balance, or control and end up with your back to your opponent. but at the same time a well executed high kick can be a 1 hit K.O.
