I'm glad you were able to accomplish your objective, Andrew. I perceive the internet as imperative to artists trying to promote their product. In respect to those already defined within the industry: if the music is quality, the album will be purchased. The net inhibits consumers from being 'burned' by a bad album and promotes the music of those who cannot absorb the financial obligations required by the corporate interest presiding. Great assessment & thank you for the knowledge presented.
IT wouldnt suprise me that the next Sopa bastard child is based on some internet terrorist attack.. maybe then the masses will give in ? Osama BIn Laden planned his attacks through google!! we have to protect our people and control the internet"!! XD
Sopa is not about musicians or artists only.. thats just the tip of the iceberg, its about big corporations telling you what to beieve and think, its about turning internet into another television model by condemning websites that promote unpopular opinions, shuting down servers under labels like terrorism or piracy.. making room for CNN and FOX to tell you what to think of the world and prevent you from stumbling upon different opinions.. its a matter of control and freedom of speech.. :)
The MPAA simply can't grasp that the internet is a communications medium, not a broadcast medium. They're used to the snobbery of thinking that the suits control everything, and the public has to be lead along by the collective nose. They're not used to the public at large biting back, and when it does, it utterly confounds them.
My opinion and experience: I never paid for a movie or music album in about 10 years(well, maybe one or two to give as gift) I download all mp3 albums(hundreds) and video files from free share systems , should exist millions like me...does that affect the industry and the artist?..make you own conclusions...I'm new in the USA so I don't have yet a firm idea on how the system and show business operate...
The fat-ass music industry coke-heads are all total looser goofs! They think that they're so cool, and so happening, but they're just a bunch of stupid coke-heads with a lot of money. I hate them. That ass-wipe from the MPAA Chris Dodd (who wrote the SOPA bill) is such a creepy ugly fat pig scum-bag. Eeeewwww! My God, I can only imagine how many young girls he's forced to have sex with him. He's such a pervert. Yuck. The only place Chris Dodd goes to on the inter-net is teenage girl porn sites.
The music industry is going to try and take down a whack of people as they DIE. They will unfortunately die a slow death and kill off so much of what is amazing right now. Look at ACTA, (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement). It's poised to choke the way the Internet is in Europe. Why do they want to punish sites for posting links anyway. And, why do they want governments to be the POLICE of the Internet? The entire thing is just so insane. They'll try ACTA here. They're getting so desperate.
i think this guy well deserves all the support he's recieving as well as donations. the way he explains stuff to the people is inspirational to say the least. not everyone can share their knowledge to variety of people all around the world, especially that way. and i'm so damn sorry i have no opportunity to support him myself, but it's never too late :)
just go on with this, andrew, you're a great teacher and your videos helped me a lot. and, thanks a million :D
Hey... Thanks for the kind words, and please don't worry if your not able to support this weeks fundraiser... Things have worked out amazing this week, and I'm just totally thankful that everybody's been so incredibly cool. It's worked out to be an awesome week!
The corporate music barons are SHIT scared of people who are saying F-OFF to the industry. Look at RadioHead. They left their label (EMI), posted their album on their site for FREE download, and said to their fans, "PAY WHAT YOU WANT." Most people paid $20.00 some paid $40 and they made more than they EVER did before. Recently there's also comedian Louis CK... he just released his concert film on-line (down-loadable off of his site ONLY) and he made OVER a MILLION BUCKS. This is the future!
Yeah. The times of the big record label deal are in the process of ending. DIY is on the way to the top, also improving the quality of the actual music a lot.
Keep up the great work Andrew! Your videos are easily the most educational guitar videos on all of Youtube and your passion for spreading the joy of music always inspires me. Thanks a million! Stand by for my donation :)
