I came across that same brand of royal jelly, bee pollen, propolis mix at my whole foods today and it reminded me of this video. I'm not sure if I trust it. What are your thoughts on it?
Great Video! I definitely have to make this. I remember reading about this in Buhner's book, and you missed one thing... The Angry Bees! :D - - - - I've actually had the thought of simulating the bee venom with Stinging Nettle. I don't remember if that was Buhner's suggestion or a thought of my own. That mead certainly looks incredibly nourishing. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hey Brandon I went in my Brewing store in town and that place was so cool and unique they were awesome very cheap supplies. The guy was very nice but told me it can take 6 months to a year before drinkable is this true? Confused thanks for the help man your channel is full of info I'm learning a lot.Love youtube lol
I wanted to clean out a jar of honey that I used and filled it with warm water and shook it so to clean out the leftover honey, bgut I forgot and let it sit for a few days and then it smelled like alcohol which makes me think you only need honey and warm water to ferment and don't need to add yeast to make mead?
Thank you for making such a simple and conscientious brewing video. I am wondering how you would make wine out of store bought organic grape juice. How much honey would you need since there's already a lot of sugar in the juice?
Thank you for sharing! You're videos have came along really well. Decided to start my own. No competition, you know what your talking about and you have been my inspiration.
Do you have to change bottles half way through the fermentation? A friend of mine makes beer and he changes containers half way through. I'm not sure why. Also, how do you know when it's ready?
This looks most excellent to make and drink. Never heard of mead before but looks very healthy, I use raw honey now in my tea, great stuff, have heard of bee pollen, and propolis but have never used it.. This is very interesting to me, and I hope you do a follow up.
Here's some tips for the next time you make mead. Put some clove, cinnamin, and apricot into the the spring water and let it soak overnight, then put it on lowest temp. on the stove and then put your bee product in and stir. Take it off the heat and then add the honey and stir well. Pour into glass jar and add the yeast and put your air lock on and wait. I like to drink it after 30 days of fermentation. It's wonderful and a great present for friends during the Holidays!
@herbgardner00 whats the vibe off mead like? rum alows me to think normal, vodka numbs me, beer can fatique me. alcohol pretty much sucks imo but wowndering if mead offers a unique buzz/high?
how alcoholic is it is it like really mild like a kombucha or more like a wine? i have trouble drinking alcoholic beverages because when i was a kid i got alcohol poisoning really bad and now even wine doesn't go down well at all. but i really like honey and bee products so i want to try this do you think its a good idea?
@DanielStacy it is closer to wine, probably in the 10-18% range, depending on how you make it. i'd try it out, in small amounts and see how you like it, esp. if it is your own home made brew.

You put honey in boiling/hot water to make the honey flow freely out of the container

@lucidrummer its not that kind of yeast. you'd need a champagne or mead yeast.

Do you think yeast is healthy for the body? My favorite fermented food is kefir.
todayisthedaytolive 1 year ago
@todayisthedaytolive it depends on the kind of yeast, some are beneficial, some are harmful. pro-biotic vs. dys-biotic.
