  • sooper...

  • wow this doesnt seem praportionate from the size of this coil and its energy output.....but still good job though

  • @chickenpoper that shit will still fuck you up

  • dear santa...

  • Great job with the acrylic plastic!

  • Nice coil :)

    And AWESOME songs ;)

  • what is the name of the second song (starts at ~2min)?

  • Tesla did not any electricity used from the mains, Tesla took the power from the earth for electricity.

  • @UFOmember Not true - he shut down Colorado Springs while running his tower outside of town...essentially he used the entire output of the towns power station.

  • and can you use it as base(home) defense XD

  • I invented a breakthrough energy source that violates the law of energy conservation. I have a PROOF that there are electrodynamic phenomena that violate the law of energy conservation. I am looking for $6M for a prototype and patents.

  • @henrykay01 can has a proof fore i gives you ma moneh

  • I didn't realize how bad I wanted my own coil untill just now .... Way to go Sir !

  • BOARING

  • you should throw a charged metal ball to it, not exactly, but close, it would be fun.

  • oh the first time i see someone this close to me on youtube :D I live 10 min from the Universität Gutenberg :D

  • i no the song is fear of the dark, but when and where was this performed live? i have looked for it on youtube but none of the live versions seem to mach this one. where did you get this audio file from?

  • I have it from a friend!

  • Big? Nic moc..

  • what's the name of the song?

  • lol this question... thats Rock Classic... Rock History..

Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark

  • thanks :) i'm not really into rock :P

  • fear of the dark ^^

  • Fear of the Dark...the title of the song almost matches with the video, nice one.

P.S.: I don´t know anything about physics or electricity but it´s cool to see that.

  • oho that is soooo cool

  • amaizing, congrats..

  • Question: what creates the sound of the sparkles of a Tesla coil? Is it because they move faster than the speed of sound? Or something else?

  • The electric discharges heats the air through ohmic heating, causing it to expand rapidly and generating sound-waves.

The elecreic discharge itself (flow of elecrtrons) is fairly near the speed of light, so that is pretty darn fast.

The tone you hear is from the spark-gap pulsing the current at a specific frequency. Those pulses generates a soundwave per puls, like I said above, so you'll hear the tone frequency of the spark-gap.

  • thanks :-)

  • Very nice :)

  • great looking tesla coil you got there! did you build it yourself?

  • yes, I build it in the factory of the University

  • red alert soviet defenses

  • Awsome!

    LA Physik Uni Mainz RULEZ!!!!!

  • Sehr schöne Spule!

  • Danke!
