  • The power of the 80's/ The 80's is like a gravitational vortex.

  • Massive drums......oh yeah, I'm feelin' it !!

  • At 51 that was my time.

A truely magnificent performance By all.

    brought tears to my eyes!

Thanks for posting Great Stuff !

    Pete Australia

  • Seeing this makes me realize live shows of today are seriously lacking!!!!

  • Epic! Bombastic sound! What a drummer! What a performance! The Ahoy was torn to pieces this night!

  • My one regret is not seeing them live while they were in their prime.

  • It's GREAT!

  • I'm Brazilian, an i have 22 years old, this music is one of the best songs of 80's.

The music, is wonderfull, 60's, 70's, 80's are the best musics 4 ever ^^!

  • Been hunting this version for YEARS having seen it on The Tube (or something similar) years back. Robin Clark is superb. Great post.

  • After 25 years..........it stands the test of time. Especially compared to this bullshit out today that they call "music".

  • ジム・カーがスゴくキュート ドラムの後ノリがより曲に重みを加えてる

    この時が一番バンドとしてノッてる気がします

    名曲です

  • Wow, this band really performs well. The vocalist really is a singer. Perfect, still nice to complement the music of the 80's.

  • Of the almost 11000 views of this video, I probably have 100 of them.

Can't get enough of this version of this song.

    Long live SM!!

  • fuckin ryan turbirdy referrin to simple minds as a yellow pack version of u2 teday on his breakfast show. fuck that cunt he hasnt a clue. simple minds are the real deal. not sum polictian fake rock band that u2 are.

  • Agreed Gary,

This is one of the most technically sound and cohesive bands ever. Dangerously potent in clarity and volume live. U2 is sometimes choppy in live performances. I put my money on Simple Minds anytime. They truly kick ass.

  • Super song. LOVE Robin's singing.

  • thanks for posting.always reminds me of the tube when they showed this.

  • I saw them in 1985 at Northwestern University--check out my channel for more music, these guys were the leaders in many musical ways and awesome.

  • Hola!! soy nuevo en esta pagina

alguien me puede decir si puedo y como bajarlo a mi celular??

    de antemano gracias

  • I really liked Jim Kerr when he was the singer for Bay City Rollers.

  • THANKS for All your comments, I have had a great read. It would be wrong to delete this video now.

I only posted these videos because I could not find them on Youtube, and maybe someone else was looking too.

    Click the video for widescreen.

  • please do not ever delete this video i absolutely love it, if u ever delete this vid i will be very :(

  • Man, that's Michal "Mick" McNeil, the greatest keyboard player ever, very much missed after he left the Minds in 1988, the sound of the Minds was never the same after he left, and Kerr & Burchill were poor in trying to catch up to their 80*s sound.

  • wish i grew up in an era of quality music like this - im ashamed of todays "music" that is meant to represent my generation, who is the female singer? she is amazing! love this song!

  • The female singer is Robin Clark, American, who did backing vocals on the Minds' album Once upon a time, and toured with them 1985 / 86

  • Thanx!

  • Her name is Robin Clark. Shes the only American in the group. She was with SM for two years 83 to 85. she is a gospel singer from NYC.

  • Watching this concert back in 1985 on TV made me addicted to the Minds' sound with their Once upon a time album rocking the charts. However, didn't see them on this tour, only 1989 @ Street fighting years tour. Great performance, like the drums by Mel!

  • Thank you so much for posting this, I have it on VHS but the quality of the tape is not that good anymore. I have seen Simple Minds live quite a few times and they are the best live act ever. I was 17 years old in 1985 and this brings back so many good memories, bless you!

  • Fantastic ... and Robin Clark was amazing as well.

  • 23 years ago, at an age of 13 years old, I hadnt the money to come and visit this concert in Rotterdam (my folks wouldnt pay) :-)

Now 23 years later I can finally see this concert. WOW. What a memories !!

thank you very much from the Netherlands

  • nice one,thanx

  • one of the best live version of alive and kicking!!

mick where are u??come back please!!

  • Happy 30th! What a great clip, it captures a fabulous intro! I noticed Mick and Jim were talking about something before starting, could it be they changed the song list for the night, and decided to play "Alive & Kicking"? Maybe we'll have to ask Mick that question, if he can remember. Man, you're videos are so clear! It's so interesting how with the Mind's there is always so much variation on how they play their tunes live, with none ever quite replicating the next. Alright Big Mama Clark!
