  • Lol! Love how you say "moki" instead of "mochi".

  • @ 2tired2becared4, ikr!!! It's moCHI not mokee

  • Whoa looks delicious!! :D

  • I'm 11 but I don't know why I'm watching how to cook

  • so delish, but what that looks like a straight up heart attack sandwich!

  • It looks so delicious!! I soo wanna make this... but i dont have Mochiko :c!! Can i use normal glutinous rice flour instead of Mochiko?

  • @Chiibarita

    Yes, you can, thanks!

  • do you have to add cherrys? will it be good w/ only vanilla?

  • @2MoronsAndAnIdiot

I didn't create the video, but a general rule of thumb in cooking is that you have creative freedom. So no, you do not have to add the cherries and you can only add vanilla.

  • Someone's really going to die from heart failure tonight

  • Yuck disgrace to how we asians use mochiko =_=

  • really? mo-key?!

  • my translator saying that evaporated milk is coffeemilk is that right???

  • @ladythreecats

    yes, coffeemilk is fine!

  • If you minus the fruits and cut down on the sugar and milk you actully come up with a dish that people in Hawaii call butter mochi. It is actually quite delicious and with the variation of adding chocolate you make chocolate mochi.

  • that is not the way to use mochiko

  • looks good, but that's an insane amount of butter D:

  • what's the intro song?

    great vid by the way

  • i think i had this with raisins and it was really good.. NICE PRESENTATION!

i enjoyed it very much and will be making it soon! i can't wait, thank you!

  • toooo much fat :<

  • What if cherries are out of season?

  • cherry man?? :-)

  • well, that's not the way you should use Mochiko...

For me, this cake don't look appetizing at all :/ And you better make your own frosting rather than using canned one...

  • Nice

  • i'd say that you really have no idea what you're doing with that mochiko...

sorry sir but that is my verdict .

  • yes, that's just a regular cake using mochi flour, not a mochi cake

  • @shinaiminos That is a mochi cake and not a regular cake.

  • if i'm right isn't it pronounced mo - chi isn't it Japanese? if it is its mochi X3 check it up yays

  • For shame!!! You take the time to make a home made cake and you cant take 5 min to make fresh frosting? you half to buy it form a store. ;'( Not cool man not cool!

  • @universalpenis so true... homemade frosting is sooo worth it...

  • are cherries necessary? D:

  • my personal favourite is VANILLA !!

  • what can i say other then yum, Yum, yum..... thanks

  • It might be so chewy cause u migh have overmixed it

  • Thats just a regular cake.. not Mochi cake

  • that looks SO delicious

  • that's a regular cake... that's not mochi..

  • The reason why i don't like it is that it sure is very fattening, which as someone else has commented is good for the cardiovascular, not, although the video is good, the recipe is not, sorry but we must try and have recipes that are more heart friendly, fruit vegetables, you get the picture, Take Care. Please try again.

  • @Brighteyes1ful

This is a cake. Cake isn't supposed to be healthy.

  • great recipe but that's a serious calorie bomb!!!! :)

  • Yum, thanks for the recipe! I'm going to try this without the cherries. (:

  • mokee?

  • thank you, masarap

  • Man, this is going directly to your cardiovascular system.

Im just envyous, because I just tried to make some traditional mochi and it went all wrong

  • Thanks!

  • ...did you say mochi like moki in the beginning?...it's mo-chee. :3

  • WOW, I am surely gonna make this recipe and THANK YOU for such a wonderful presentation. I also love the symphony you have playing on the background. It was very joyful to watch this clip. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

  • Gosh, thank YOU!

  • where can i find rice flour ?

  • You can find rice flour at any asian grocery market.

I also have seen it in fancy grocery stores.

    Thank you for asking!

  • can i use any rice flour??

  • Yes... any rice flour will do!

  • @freitasex what song was at the intro?

  • Yes, I need to show metric measurements more!

  • i am a cherry lover to:D

  • I LOVE Cherries!

  • i think its easy to follow...i want to make this, one of this days....umm yummy!

    thanks again for sharing!!!

  • MMM Yummy....it looks pretty good...thanks

  • Thank you very much!

  • You are such an awesome guy you should get a reward! I got an idea try being a host of some important American TV cooking show you are the new Jamie Oliver!

  • That is a GREAT compliment.

    Thank YOU!

  • actually it's pronounced MU-Chee

  • Thanks, I wasn't sure!

  • isn't it pronounced moe-chee?

  • done like this it seems like a fusion dish more than traditional mochi, i assume its fairly dense? or is it fluffier?

and i love cherries too so i'll have to give this a try, did u end up deciding which frosting tasted better with it?

  • It is DENSE, with some chew to it... not that great if you ask me. I liked the chocolate frosting the best :)

  • It is awesome. Unfortunately here we have no acces to rice powder, so we can only envy :)

  • Aw, sorry Pavel, no rice powder!

  • Powder, flour... whats the different... it is not accesible to me either :)

  • Flour and powder is the same thing... yes!

  • But it doesnt change a bit that is greate recipe :)

  • Yep, mochiko is a very glutinous causing it to be chew. Say it "mow-chee" I have tons and tons of mochi recipes. Come to think of it, we are making some for the upcoming party. If I can stand messing with the camera while making them, I'll record it. I have stopped myself from doing them because no one can seem to get hold of the flour.

Interesting, I have never seen a mochi cake frosted!

    Ever.

  • OMG, after making this.... I saw your version because it showed up as "Recommend For You" in that section of when I first come onto the website... Damn over 9,000 views and sounds like you received a lot of controversy.... I found this on a website and had no idea that you had made it because I have not gone through and watched all your 300 older videos.

I had to have frosting, every cake deserves that!

  • You'll get those people too... they will tell you about 400x times that this is not mochi. Again and again and again and again.

  • My mouth is watering!

  • LOL, thanks!

  • Mmmm...what can be better than chewy cake.

  • A tender cake?

This cake was just so so, thanks poobum50!

  • Entrees and desserts, I meant. Blargh!

  • With your hard work... I know you are a winner!

  • I have never heard of this cake before. It looks pretty good. I love cherry's too! :)

  • Cherries are awesome!

    And so are you!

  • What a great idea!

  • That looks fantastic!!!!! YUMMAY =-D

  • Thanks... means a lot to me!

  • hey, another cool video. have you ever heard of the kind of mochi that is stuffed? it's a dough made of rice flour and formed into small balls stuffed with a filling, usually red bean and served in a ginger syrup or sesame sauce.

  • Yes, I have heard of it.

But I have never seen it.

  • awesome, I think I'll try making this. B) I made that banana pie that you made in another video a while back and my brothers loved it. Thanks!

  • That banana pie is super rich, glad you liked it!

  • that is EXACTLY what my brother said, haha

  • Wow, thanks Jordan!

  • i can almost taste it looks so so so good!!

  • I like the chocolate side better.

  • Bing cherries are the best. I have never used rice flour in anything before. I will be this weekend. LOL. Does the rice flour give the cake a different texture than reguar bread or AP flour. I am doing this one SAT.

  • Yes... the rice flour is heavier and this was my first time to tell you the truth... regular flour would "probably" be better.

  • You are the next food network star!

  • LOL, you are funny!

  • nope im serial
