The first time I heard this sung was back in 1991 in a packed Pakipaki Marae wharekai in 1991. I was a pakeha kaiako with a visiting group of school kids and it was sung as a grace. Talk about "sing for your supper"! That wharekai became Canterbury Cathedral and this manuhiri's spirit soared through the rafters. I just had to learn it. I'm proud to say all my own kids now know and sing it and value it as I do. Kia ora Myssticalnz for posting this! : )
As a health worker from UK, I always attempted to join morning grace (when working in NZ) just to sing this version of the lords prayer... I always felt that if the lords prayer was conducted like this in UK I may have been a better Christian.. Kiora
ataahua, what really makes this special is the harmony the tane offer in this lovly hymm. even if he did pull a face he didnt drop a note ....ka pai rawa ki te whakarongo i te reka o te rangi waiata a te wahine me te tane, no nga aha tenei whanau.. he tino manu tioriori koutou, mauri ora.
