@BGfromGB The verse 5:69 is coupled with verse 2:62. Until the completion of Islam it was possible for a non_Muslim MUWAHHID to be saved. After the verse 3:85: (And whoever seeks religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers) was revealed, this was no longer possible. Notice the word Muwahhid. It means one who died without compromising God's oneness in worship. My source is from the earliest generation of Muslims.

Sura 3:85 as i see it is a contradiction especially if one is to interprete it literally and the fact that it is chronologically out of sequence. @tadpoleposition Quotes 1 Corinthians 14:34-35. I'm no scholar and cannot explain. But then, as a muslim you should applaud those verses as they are in line with what Islam teaches. In Islam women are prohibited from leading prayers so I don't know what your point is. At least man and wife are permitted to worship alongside one another, whereas it is forbidden in the mosques. In fact they have to sit at the back of the mosques.

Sura 5:69 [5:69] Surely, those who believe, those who are Jewish, the converts, and the Christians; any of them who (1) believe in GOD and (2) believe in the Last Day, and (3) lead a righteous life, have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.
Based on this sura, what then is the point of becoming a muslim?

@BGfromGB The verse 5:69 is coupled with verse 2:62. Until the completion of Islam it was possible for a non_Muslim MUWAHHID to be saved. After the verse 3:85: (And whoever seeks religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers) was revealed, this was no longer possible. Notice the word Muwahhid. It means one who died without compromising God's oneness in worship. My source is from the earliest generation of Muslims.

@tadpoleposition There is no difference in the interpretation and meaning of Suras 2:62 and 5:69. Sura 3:85 as i see it is a contradiction especially if one is to interprete it literally and the fact that it is chronologically out of sequence. As for the law of Mohammed, well I'm sorry my friend if the law of Mohammed is to be compared with the law of Yeshua, then I'd stay well clear of the hadiths.

You did that with the Bible then proceded to do the same with the Quran. Big mistake! I gave you an interpretation directly from Muhammad's (PBUH) cousin and you gave me "as I see it". What is that? The science of exegesis involves more than a literal interpretation.

@tadpoleposition I'm often accused of misunderstanding the true meaning of the Quran on the basis that I don't understand the Arabic language. Well I will accept those verses as literal. That means they ARE contradictory. Furthermore Mohammed claims the religion has been perfected. If that is the case, why is it necessary to have Ali bin Abi Talhah to do the interpretation when Allah could have done it in his final revelation contained in the Quran?

@BGfromGB Because the Quran was not only preserved textually, it's interpretation has also been preserved. After all, what good would it do to preserve the text and not the meanings? It's part of the completion and perfection of Islam. It's a privilege exclusive to the Muslims. Question: Where do you think Muhammad's (PBUH) cousin got that explanation from? He was taught by Muhammad (PBUH) himself. Listen, you have an opportunity to submit to the Creator of Jesus. Don't pass it up!

@tadpoleposition You proved nothing. You cannot prove the Quran is the literal word of God. To do that you first prove that God exists. That cannot be done. You beat me in the Bible. No problem. I'm not about to denigrate the scriptures to gain cheap shots in an effort to win debates. The Bible speaks for itself. It has nothing to hide & nothing has been corrupted. It may be easy to praise Allah in the Arabic vernacular. But why Arabic? Why not praise him using the English language?

Because Jsus was speaking Aramaic (which is close to arabic) arabs put in the mind of people that arabic is the language of God. Mohamed had heard that Jesus was speaking aramaic from that, he decided to develop the arabic language.
