I was in this choir.. i have been in many performances, performed many pieces, and been in many musicals. But no song in any shape or fashin has made me drop to one knee and cry except for this single one. it is the most moving thing i have ever had the honor of singing. it "IS" a spiritual experience.. it will change you...
I miss singing with these people... It was a great time to meet new people... I enjoyed working with every person here.. We sounded great and I wanted to thank everyone for trying their best!!! I miss you savannah Georgia!!! ): the bus ride was the longest though!! <33
I sung this for the 2006 Lee Honor Choir (Before performing in All-State later the semester) and had the privilege of meeting Mr. Stroope who directed the choir that year. This is my absolute favorite choral arrangement. I get shivers every time I hear it. ;-)
I was here! I would be right behind that music stand. I was a tenor (and still am). This song was by far the best! It sent chills down my spine singing it. Greg was the best conductor ever! That Loonie lady that we had this year was no where near as good as him.
i was in this video...i'm on the wayyyyyyyy end on the right side :( you can't see me but idc lol i wanna say hey to caroline...lauren...ashley carter.....josh feilds...and jessica norton and etc....
I am so jealous- my three best friends sang this song last year in the Morris County Choir and Z. Randall Stroope actually taught it to them and conducted it for the performance. It was so amazing I cried!
It is weird, because a lot of All-State choruses did a lot of the same songs. I wonder how that happens? For instance, the GMEA Senior Mixed chorus did Richtte Mich Gott, and so did like three other groups.
This is absolutely amazing!! I participated in the Seinor Mixed Chorus this year, and I must say that the Sapranos were much better than ours. Not a single note was flat, but in our Halleleujah, our pitch suffered. Nice Job middle schoolers!
Our director told us to say the latin that way. TONE wise, you lose resonance on any type of recording, and frankly i think we still sound pretty freaking amazing.
My Choir Cliniced or worked with Dr. Stroope for a few days. HE said that we were the best choir he heard singing the piece. In essence, your director is an idiot.
well excuse me for not having the opportunity to work with the composer. If you look up a peice called Ding-a Ding-a Ding, that this same choir performed, you'll be listening to a peice that more than qualify's our director as much more than an idiot. He wrote that peice, on an airplane ride. if you're going to insult people, I'd suggest you do your research first.
Which choir did you belong to? Also, what grade are you in? I was not in the Middle School Mixed, but I was in the Senior Mixed Chorus, and it is ery imature to call a well-known choral conductor and composer an idiot!
I was not in the choir, I performed Onmia Sol at my school, and I am not saying what grade I am in, it is not relevant. Cherry Hill High School West NJ. And there were mistakes made that any conductor should have corrected!
I'm just saying that a middle school chorus did this, and they did an excellent job. You are still wrong for calling their director an idiot though! Sometimes, things do not always go according to plan, and that's just life. This was very good!
the kids who were talking at the begining walked away like robots kinda, i mean smile pplz :P..and nice job tho :P and lots of kids woowoww.. lov this song :PPP
Singing this right now for state contest. We're doing really good. But i litsen to the tenors and laugh. I can't hear them very well when its the chorus
I was in this!! its so amazing to see how awesome we were. greg was amazing. he made music, not notes and rhythms. i never knew i had this potential. i sang this song at my brothers funeral a month ago. i understand its meaning now. i was one of the 3 girls to go up an octave at the end. cant wait to do it again next year!!!! if you were in this keep in touch with me :)
I sang in this. Loved this song. For those of you who remember me, I was in the final three for the guy reading at the beginning, the tall one. Georgia misses you, Greg, and if you're reading this, my church choir sang your Kyrie a few weeks ago. :)
I was in this and omg i didnt know we sounded THAT good! lol and i dtill havent gotten my cd, and neither have any of the other 7 that went wit the school...BOO!! lol
Oh My god. This was By far the most amazing one. Mr. Gilpin is BRILLIANT! I jsut wish we had that many boys who were in chorus where I go to school! we have like 6 in the 8th grade... and none of them can sing an thing bass
wow. this is really pretty. mr.gilpin said his favorite was you are the light but this was definatley mine! all state was very amazing. thanks to the person who put this up.
hey you guyz.//...thiz iz me in here...im goin crazy !!!! im the one with the shiny forhead in the back row.....on the left.....!!!!! thank you for making me famous!! jk

no offense... but this isn't very well balanced near the beginning. you can't hear the alto part at all, and the sopranos are way overpowering.
this coming from an alto of course, I may be slightly biased... but really
