  • Congratulations! Very nice indeed!

  • I am interested in this instrument how much does it cost? Does it plays like a guqin?

  • could've made the nut a little thicker so it would jam right in the slot

  • CREATIVITY!

  • bel instrument. bien réalisé.

and a funny and good idea. I like that.

    ;-)

  • Cool bit of work. Who's the gent? I am intrigued to hear him play it.

  • Just saw your website, can't imagine the heartbreak from the fire. Keep on keepin on man. The heart burns hotter than any fire.

  • Guqin is 3000 years old, not a thousand to 2.

  • Very interesting guqin-inspired instrument.

  • Animusic FTW.

  • That's a very clever instrument, and looks very nice. I must admit I didn't think much of the sound though. Was it slightly out of tune? Odd tuning, but it did sound a bit out...

  • yeah cool, but I wouldn't buy a dulcimer just because it's foldable. :P lol

  • looks great and the fact that is foldable is great, i always have problems travelling with instruments...!!

  • Sorry, but limsj6 is right. This is based on the guqin and the mountain dulcimer, but both of those instruments are actually zithers and not dulcimers.

Either way, it's an incredibly clever instrument. I really like the folding feature.

  • quintank,

A luthier genius!!...a Guitar Luthier...a Craftsman Mechanical Engineer?... integrating Old World Concepts and Modern Electronics with an eye of ERGONOMIC playing for this UNIQUE Instrument. CAN YOU BUILD ONE WITH SIX STRINGS as in a FOLDABLE Classical Guitar ? .... hehehe....

    Thank You for the Education.

  • mmm'kay. It's easy mmm'kay lol

  • Very cool work. \you shuld keep doing your thing sir.

  • Really cool. There are so many ideosyncracies to this instrument. I would have no idea how to play it, but it certainly is unique!

  • Superb work !!

  • that's not a dulcimer. A dulcimer is a yang qin and is hit with bamboo mallets.

  • Incorrect that is a dulicmer ..... what your describing is the chinese HAMMERED dulcimer

  • You don't have to play it with these bamboo sticks you can also play chords etc.

  • Wrong. This IS a dulcimer. The yang qin is a HAMMERED dulcimer.

  • I believe I am the only other person on Youtube who has constructed the Electric Guqin. Please look at my videos to see the instrument, I used a guitar with 6 strings and no frets.

  • Very interesting though.

  • how many $ have you pay it , i want one, too i love guqin!:D favorite instrument

  • I can say. you know nothing about guqin and Chinese music. your fingering is totally wrong.

  • How can his fingering be 'wrong' when it is not a qin but a custom instrument?

  • Absolutely WILD!! I'll be darned, some Americans do still have ingenuity!!! Great work.....

  • That's wild and wacky, Q - Cool stuff!

  • I want one!! Amazing!!

  • Wow Quintin. You are an amazingly innovative luthier. Thanks for taking the risks and stepping way outside the box. - Dan L.

  • Thanks, Dan! I always try to push the envelope as far as it can go. It seems like that's what the young players were looking for in the last issue of DPN.

The dulcimer is so dear to me and such a large part of my life that I like to spend my waking hours up to my armpits in something to do with it.

Plus it is always a blast to work on something where you learn a little, too.
