Really the reason why give you a website is because they getting spin guys dont be fooled ask your self why dont the missionaries tell you about the doctrine and covenants and pearl of great price because they try to sweeten it do not be fooled ron paul 2012
So he is saying anything other then (I assume) protestant christian is a cult member. I am atheist and do not partake in any religious stuff, does that make me a cult member? LOL
None of the words AC reads means to Mormons what it means to Christians. Mormonism's Jesus is polytheistic and polygamous. Mormon god is, too! Mormon god was born a man and became a god thru heroic works. Mormon god was born into a universe of pre existing matter. It says Adam=God. It claims authority over your temporal and spiritual life. NONE of this is Christian. All of it is Mormonism
Religion should Always be an issue. It's part of the mans value system. In this instance, the president of the USA. JKF was Catholic and That was a Big Deal.Do you like having an illegal alien Muslim Kenyan for president? Well, Mormonism and it's hidden agenda is in step with Obamanation and King Bush:: NWO, confiscation of rights and wealth. Mormons call it "Milking a gentile" and "Consecrating the wealth of the gentiles onto the church". Romney serves the will of the Mormon Hierarchy.
Anderson once again referred to the "Mormon" church as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on one of his broadcasts a day ago; made me happy.
I recently saw Mr. Cooper in NYC for his daytime show; From now on, when I want the facts, I go to AC360.
i have never hear such stupid redirick in my life, get the facts, ignorance without knowledge and research is an abomination. learn the truth before you demonstrate your ignorance
There is no evidence of any Golden Tablets which occurred before the life of Joseph Smith. There is also no evidence that Mohammad even existed. And if he did exist who would want to follow a prophet with little to no accuracy pertaining to future events in addition to marrying a little girl Aisha who was over 4 decades younger than him?
At least with historical Christianity and Judaism you have profound amounts of archeological evidence which proves Biblical locations beyond fantasies applied.
i don't think you know the difference between a LDS member and an FLDS ember. LDS are good wholesome people, the FLDS are a bunch of mormon wannabes who do things that the LDS religion doesnt do. the LDS church are in no way affiliated with the FLDS.
even South Park knows the truth haha in other words joseph smith is a false profit...it says in the bible that there will be many false profits in the last days Joseph Smith being one of them
The first and great commandment is to love God with all thine heart. The second is to love thy neighbor. When pastor Jeffress speaks it is not out of love. When you profess to love someone, you help them one on one in private in a loving way. If he really cares about mormons salvation then he would do that. This is a complete bashing. This is what Christ spoke ill of. When you read the Bible and Book of Mormon you feel what real love is from Heavenly Father.Lets find out whats true on our own
so evangelicals will accept that Obama is a Christian but doesn't abide by biblical principles like abortion but Romney who says he is a Christian and actually acts on it isn't? hmmm.
@myterribletube From your point of view, you are correct. But from the evangelical and other Christian faiths he was not. For one, Joseph Smith is still relatively new from the prophet perspective. He died 1844. And two, he introduced the Book of Mormon which goes against the foundation of most Evangelical, Catholic and other Christian faiths. They consider this sacrilegious. This is why the other faiths don't consider Mormonism a part of the Christian faith.
Johnlds1965, your experiences are too limited. As with Freemasonry, there are both good and bad in these cults. The leaders are usually the most corrupt and only invite others into the inner circle who they have tested and proven to be evil. If you served in several leadership positions then Im sure they have tested you and cast you aside as useful to their real goals. In the meantime, continue working for the church and earning them money.
@tehdouglas1 If the LDS church is a cult so are Catholics and so are Jews. Didn't Moses and the Israelites fit the definition of a cult to? People can be so thick. Go get educated.
Mitt Romney is a con-man with no core principles or values and has been a leader in what amounts to a spiritual Ponzi scheme. He thus in effect be considered more akin to The Republican Bernie Madoff than the second coming of Ronald Reagan. Reagan never held a leadership position nor was he a member of any mind controlling cult which required former adherents to enter into a Twelve Step Recovery Program (much like drug addicts and alcoholics) to recover from the mind control of said "faith".
"It's certainly no more ridiculous than Catholicism."- LOL, aside from the magic underpants and Joe Smith's discovery of polygamy only AFTER his wife caught him porking his underage maid, if that's the best defense for Mormonism, you're in trouble.
THEN he said polygamy was "divinely inspired" but his first wife didn't buy what the "prophet" was selling.
Mitt's gramps ran off to Mexico to keep polygamy alive and then they slipped back across the border. Polygamy was given up for POLITICS!
@laserbeamize ...but it is a cult. You have to look at it relatively. In Utah and other regions where there are a large number of Mormons, Mormonism is just another religion. In the American south and in other U.S. Christian conclaves it is a cult. Not so much because of the polygamist history, but because Joseph Smith introduced a NEW BOOK that was not the Bible, the book of Mormon. This is the major sacrilege, evangelicals and other Christian faiths won't ever accept.
@MrFaisel34 Do you even know what Bible means? The Bible is a compilation of many BOOKS from a wide span of time and history. You just happen to have all these BOOKS compiled into one bound book today. The Book of Mormon isn't any different, the history written in it is in the same time period and the books in the Bible, just here in the American continent. God loves all his children, not just the select few in Jerusalem. The Book of Mormon is their record of God, just like the Bible, same Jesus
@kyranderson I get where you are coming from, except some people question why Joseph Smith would write the Book of Mormon in 17th century English when he lived in the 19th century. He appeared to be mimicking the King James version of the Bible. Mary Baker Eddy wrote her "Science and Health" in 19th century English, why couldn't Joseph Smith write the Book of Mormon in 19th century English? What was his MO?
@MrFaisel34 I think the key thing to understand here is that Joseph Smith didn't write the Book of Mormon, he translated it from the writings of other prophets and apostles from long ago, before the 17th or 19th century, just like the Bible. You can read this on the title page of the Book of Mormon, where it also states that Joseph Smith translated, not wrote. If you haven't already, feel free to get a free copy of it yourself by going to the mormon.org website. Reading it will clear things up!
@kyranderson I have a copy of the book of Mormon. Thank you. You totally missed the point. Joseph Smith wrote the BOM in 17th century English (HINT/CLUE). If you want to believe translated then fine. Why would JS translate BOM into 17th century English except to mimic the Bible. Joseph Smith lived in the 19th century.
Why us Romney getting a pass on the cult in which he served as a 'bishop' for an entire 'diocese'? It was not merely officially racist--it's goddamn scripture said blackness was a punishment to the losers in a divine war...some grotesque plagiarism of Christianity by a con artist and Convicted fraud Joe Smith. Mormonism is incredibly repugnant. Lincoln was entering politics about the time Smith got momentum with his religion scam--I know, atheists, that's redundant.
Law enforcement authorities state that the Mormon Church leaders still frequently chose clergy confidentiality, rather than reporting to police males who have sex with young girls as they are required to do
The church frequently choses to pay plaintiffs quietly through settlements rather than have the Mormon brought up on charges.
@DillonDee1 Completely untrue, sorry, but having served in leadership positions, such violations would have to be reported to law enforcement. We honor and sustain the law. 12th Article of Faith.
@johnlds1965 -- in my state sexual child abuse must be reported to law authorities regardless of the circumstances.
There are hundreds of articles on the internet where this did not happen in the Mormon Church
Can you point me to a site on the internet where it indicates someone making a confession to a bishop or priest is not protected & must be immediaterly reported?
@DillonDee1 "...if a teenager makes her bishop aware of abuse, his first call is to the Help Line for resources to assist the victim and prevent further abuse. If the incident is criminal in nature, the bishop also receives instructions on how to report it to legal authorities... " (newsroom.lds)
I would recommend that article to read. The church is obligated to follow the laws of the state. They are instructed to conform to them. If a bishop does not he is doing so against church instruction
@onhech - When Joseph Smith told a 12 year old girl God had ordered that she be his wife & when he married her just as she turned 14 although he already had many other wives, was that child abuse?
The only thing a bit problematic is that Mormons believe Mormon Law over-rides Federal Law
Willard's ancestor went to Federal prision rather than follow US law & later jumped bail & went off to set up a settlement in Mexico so they didnt have to follow US law
Even today if a Mormon sexually abuses a child & the law requires that the abuse be reported, Mormons belliieve it unnecesary b/c they can cure the problem w/ prayer & counseling
@VislerStudios - The Utah Supreme Court stunned prosecutors when it tossed out the only successful conviction against Warren Jeffs, the leader of the polygamist FLDS church. The ruling will make it extremely difficult to retry Jeffs in Utah, where the laws already make the prosecution of child-marriage cases difficult, But don’t worry: Texas wants a piece of Jeffs too, & it’s got a much better track record, with 12 successful prosecutions following its 2008 raid of an FLDS ranch.
@DillonDee1 ROFL. That is completely untrue, and the Articles of Faith, written by Joseph Smith, make that unquestionably clear. As do church policies found in the standard handbooks of instruction as well as those materials distributed to members of the Quorum of the Seventy, which I have perused extensively. Furthermore, what would be wrong with that position if it were true? Are we to assume that all Federal Law, everywhere is enlightened truth?:
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is one of a handful of churches seeing a rise in membership. The National Council of Churches says over the past year only five of the nation's 25 largest churches grew in membership. The report says eight other large churches saw a decrease. But it says overall in the U.S., the number of people going to church went up by about half of a percent.
Has anyone noticed his body language (other than his bobbling head) and were he always starts off saying "Well...". He never answered Chris Mathews question when he told him that LDS [Mormons] believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and never acknololedged by answered if that was true or not.
Every church out there think they are the true church, but why do people always go after the Mormons? They are good people, like Anderson said...but why are they always the target of religious bashing?
Why do peeple have to pick on MORMONS..can you guys just leave em alone, and go findout about the truth of the church ur self instead of calling Mormonism is a cult.
Ha ha, I love how you always see other religions bashing on the true church. Yet not the other way around. Mormons always just respectfully disagree. Which one is more Christ like?
-- ROMNEY'S 2012 PLAN CUTS MEDICARE--Ron Paul’s plan cuts $1 trillion the first year & balances the budget in 3 years. The plan cuts spending by ending the costly foreign wars, and cuts foreign welfare, corporate welfare, and overgrown federal bureaucracy. These cuts are made so that those who are dependent on domestic spending programs such as Medicare aren’t endangered through a sudden change in benefits. Romney’s plan cuts Medicare, on which many elderly Americans rely.
I just love how he says that Mormons aren't Christians. The fact that the church is called "The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints" should be a dead give away as to what the members believe. And the fact that he calls Mormons a cult and then says they're not every other second = priceless. And he should probably read the Bible again because it says that faith without works is dead. Just a heads up. He needs to get his facts straight before blurting stuff out and looking like an idiot.
Mormons believe that there can be millions of gods - Christians are monotheistic (ONE god).
Mormons believe that they can become a god themselves when they die and receive a planet to populate.
More importantly, Joseph Smith was proven to be a fraud when his "100% true" Book of Mormon was proved wrong by DNA testing - American Indians were NOT a tribe of Israel. Furthermore, the Garden of Eden was NOT in Missouri (Man originated in Africa).
@TheSnoopy1750 Hmm interesting, i have never heard that before. Do you have valid research to back up those claims or are you just copy and pasting something you found from an anti-mormon website?
The Mormon belief has long been that if you are a good Mormon you become a god with your own planet when you die.
The DNA evidence showing that Indians are not a tribe of Isreal as the Book of Mormon claims is well documented - there is an article in the LA Times - just google:
los angeles times mormon dna bedrock jolted
Furthermore, it is scientifically accepted that man originated in Africa.
@stupidpeopleboss Given the Book of Mormon said the "Israeli tribe" covered the entire continent, one tiny example of Israeli DNA means little. How old is the DNA sample?
Please show me the peer reviewed study that shows that a significant number of American Indians had Israeli DNA 1,000 years ago. the BoM claims the "tribe" made its way to American around 600BC.
Joseph Smith also claimed the Garden of Eden was in Missouri and that blacks are cursed. Do you believe that too? LOL
@stupidpeopleboss Face it, Joseph Smith was a charlatan who started the Mormon cult.
Given nobody knew that Indians were of Asian ancestry back in the 1800s, Smith figured he could say anything he wanted, never realizing that DNA testing would eventually be able to show he was a fraud.
He figured his story would carry more weight if the Indians were Israelites (the "chosen" people) so he claimed they were.
The "prophet" Joseph Smith also said Jesus would return to Missouri in 1891. LOL
@stupidpeopleboss P. 601 of The Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball (Mormon prophet):
"About twenty-five centuries ago, a hardy group left the comforts of a great city, crossed a desert, braved an ocean, and came to the shores of this, their promised land. There were two large families, those of Lehi and Ishmael, who in not many centuries numbered HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of people on these two American continents".
Even with no intermixing, there would be VAST amounts of Indians with Israeli DNA.
"And thus it did come to pass that the people of Nephi began to prosper again in the land, and began to build up their waste places, and began to multiply and spread, even until they did cover the whole face of the land, both on the northward and on the southward, from the sea west to the sea east."
Sounds like the entire continent was overrun by this Israeli tribe.
Yet no DNA evidence of a significant Israeli ancestry. LOL
I just had a conversation with the Dean of Religion of my University who is not a Mormon, who said that Mormons, by definition, are not a cult.
What this guy is saying is what I believe is just a political move in agreement with Rick Perry to slander Mitt Romney. The motive is not religious at all.
Christians prepare for the Apocalypse; Mathew 24 says that the Christians will go through the tribulation before the second coming of Yahoshua ha Moshiach (Jesus el Cristo). Mathew 24 says that this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be being preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations, then the END shall come. Well, the Gospel is global now isn't it? It's time to wake up and prepare because Novus Ordo Seclorum. Read below and study what I say to see for yourselves and spread the message.
I also like the idea of a Theological cult is a religion created and led by men. So my question is, was it a "cult" that followed Moses out of Egypt? If you think about it is the exact same thing. God appeared to Moses in the form of the burning bush and called him to be a prophet and lead people to the promised land. He also received, scripture from from God. Compare these to Joseph Smith. So if Mormons are a cult then Moses and his people were too. And Jesus revered a leader of a cult.
Also it boggles my mind when ppl say they know what god thinks and does. Like how and as for Robert Jeffress if he claims to come from a true god then where is his respect for ppl and their beliefs......
Christians are always bashing mormons & other religions. People have not done alot of research on the Bible & christianity on how it came into being. The Bible is considered a holy book & the word of God by many christians, but as many scholars have pointed out, the bible can contain errors & inconsistencies. We must also realize that it was put together by the early Catholic Church & was edited, rewritten, purged of what they early church deemed heretical & manipulated for their own agenda
@foamythe Actually I did that on Google and looked at the first page results, even reviewed Wikipedia and that assumption is not correct - 'Mormonism' is not a Cult, this is a 'nickname/term given to followers/members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! – Go to WikiPdeia and type 'Cult'... you'll gain a better understanding there.
@foamythe So i just did your google search. af if you go by definition, you can call what Christ himself made a cult. he created a system of worship focused around rights and ceremonies widely unorthodox and unaccepted by the religious majority at the time, and he gathered together a group of followers and united them in their veneration of the same person (Himself). every church today now stems off of that 'cult' Christ made 2000 years ago. your definitions arguement is no good
@foamythe Why don't you pick up the good book, read it with real intent for yourself only interpreting the Scriptures with your heart on your own free will? I it because your scared, anger, sorrow, fear etc. I don't know so I cannot Judge
Look, outside of my own religious beliefs, the fact he is judging a political candidate based on religion is just sad. Isn't politics supposed to be about...I don't know...politics? You know, budgets, international relations, laws to maintain stability, etc. How about we drop the religious labeling and actually talk about politics? I vote for the candidate who I agree with, not if they are my same religion. It is just like people labeling JFK for being Catholic and look what he accomplished.
Once you really research Mormonism you realize that they don't believe the same things as Christian. I personally have Mormon friends and they are some of the most disciplined, nicest people you can meet. In a lot of ways Christians could learn a thing or two from their character. However, they are not Christians and if they are truly practicing Mormons , they are a cult. I believe that a lot of them are deceived into thinking that they are Christians. I would invite you to research this.
@whilewelive1 In Ur opinion, who follows Christ completely according to what Christ taught? Is there only 1 way or multiple ways of living as a Christian? Catholics & all Protestant churches, who all claim 2B true & "real" Christians all have, even fundamentally, different beliefs. Faith, Confession & forgiveness, mode of Baptism, Church Authority, canonized scripture, the afterlife are all points the Savior touched upon but R interpreted different in all Christian churches. So to U, who's right?
@LeSiPeKi03 Great point! In my opinion, no one follows Christ completely. (If we did, we probably wouldn't be human). There is only ONE source, however, for how one should live a "Christ - following" life, that is the Bible. I agree with you that different denominations of the Christian faith have differing views on issues that perhaps the Biblical scriptures are not completely clear on. As for the issues the Bible is completely clear on, that is where we are alike...
@LeSiPeKi03 And that is why the Mormons would not be considered Christians, and would be considered a cult. Because they have another authority, The Book of Mormon (as well as other writings and ongoing "revelations" that change their doctrine at times. However!, that being said, if you were to ask the question "Is it possible for a Mormon to be saved?", I would say I think it's just as possible as you or I being saved or someone in the Baptist church being saved. The Bible says it's the way ...
@LeSiPeKi03 The Bible says the WAY is narrow and few find it. It's harder for a rich man to enter heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, and there's a lot of rich people sitting in churches today. BUT, anything is possible with God, so I believe it's as possible for someone who calls themselves a Mormon to be saved as it is for someone who calls themselves a Baptist, if they are truly in the BIBLE and seeking God. I don't think they would remain in the Mormon church...
@LeSiPeKi03 after they realized that the Mormon church is NOT teaching the Bible (only). But I'm not sure I would stay in some churches either now that I know what the Bible teaches. Sad, but true. I hope that all makes sense. Curse this word limit! LOL!
then written by Moses, in the Pentateuch (1st 5 books in our Bible), who lived 2000 years after Adam. What did Moses' contemporaries think of him? Do you think Moses had peers who questioned his "new scripture" or revelation. From hindsight it is easy for us to accept Moses' writings, but remember:whenever God reveals His word anew, He does so through HIs prophets (Amos 3:7). And His Prophets teach the correct doctrines of Christ that, left alone to man's understanding, can become tainted.
@whilewelive1 Appreciate your thoughts. But let me offer some things for you to think about. Do you believe that perhaps Adam, Seth, Enoch, Methuselah, Noah, Melchizedek, Abraham, Isaac,Jacob and Joseph had God's word revealed to them and that these Prophets were commanded to both teach the people God's will and record these truths in scripture? I would presume yes. But where are their writings? Obviously, for reasons unknown, truths had been lost and misconstrued. These prophets words were
existed 1 church that Christ Himself organized (Eph. 4:5), why then R there 1000's of different churches today that teach different things? With that being said, if there was Christ's church today on the earth, wouldn't it be lead by Apostles and Prophets? In the past, when God spoke, He did so thru Noah, Abraham, Moses, Peter and Paul etc. Why is it easy for us to believe in dead Prophets but hard for us to accept that if God were to speak today He would do so thru a living Prophet?
@whilewelive1 Well of course none of us are perfect, but the organization/framework that Christ set up during His ministry was perfect. According to the New Testament, Christ organized a Church with Apostles and Prophets at the foundation with Christ Himself at the head. The purpose of His church was to provide a means whereby its members could be taught correct principles, receive of grace and fellowship, and be given duties and opportunities for service (Eph. 2:19-20/4:11-14). If there only
@whilewelive1 Do not be so fixed in your mind to denounce everything that is not in the Bible and to assume that God's word has stopped with the Bible and that God can never speak again. I would caution you to not limit Heavenly Father. In the History of God's children's existence on this earth, when has He ever ceased speaking and commanded His prophets to stop writing? If He chooses, He will speak and who are we to say when He can and when He can't?
@whilewelive1 If you truly believed in the Bible, then you would also believe in "ongoing revelation" to a modern/current Prophet; that is if Christ's church exited on the earth today.God's word has always been "ongoing", and if it isn't, then it's because we are not willing to find it and listen to whom He has sent it to. If we only believed in dead Prophets and that God has stopped speaking, then we should have stopped listening to every single Prophet that came after Adam.....................
@whilewelive1 Keep in mind, if Martin Luther believed Catholics to be "true" Christians he wouldve never "protested" their beliefs in the first place. Martin Lurther fundamentally believed that the Catholic church did NOT preach the same Gospel as Christ and His Apostles which is why he was the father of the "Protestant/Reformation" movement. So to Martin Luther, Catholics were not true Christians either...
Andersen is downright rude and keeps interupting. If you ask someone a question, let him answer. If you say you are willing to interact, give him the time. Andersen, you can do better.
The funniest thing to me is that the largest classical and historical Christi followers in the entire world is called the Catholic church. Baptist and the rest can trace their roots to the whim of a king who wanted to marry his mistress. Anyhow... For catholics who are way larger than a tinny baptist convention, anyone who is not catholic is a cult or a sect. So... If we go by numbers alone... Guess what... All these so called pastors fail. So who is right and the bottom line, why should religi
Technically, they[Baptist and the like] would have to trace their origins at least 15 years before Henry VIII decided to annul his marriage, right back to when good ol' Luther nailed the Catholic Church with his 95 Theses.
Jeffress looks awkward just smiling the whole time during the video. It's like he is trying to put on a show to help his reputation. He says that he is Christian except he is passing hugh judgments towards another which is un-Christian.
Won't his definition of a cult fit Baptists? The Baptists were founded by a man who disagreed with the Catholic interpretation of the bible, John Smyth . So, if we go by the declared history of both Churches the Baptist are more of a Cult by Pastor Roberts definition then the LDS Church with declares that Christ and God visited Joseph Smith and had him build their Church.
Jeffress is a nut job. Why is he getting involved in politics? He can barely make a coherent argument.
I appreciate that the Mormon church doesn't get involved in politics. Jeffress should take the same stance! He is making himself, his faith and his political candidate seem like wackos.
I like how he says Catholics aren't a cult ...they believe in faith and good works... But "historic" Christianity.... Okay, wait a minute. What is more "historic" than the Catholic church? It is definitely way more "historic" than protestant religions. It was around way before them. Did he make up this name, "historic Christianity" that he is trying to pass off as the gold standard by which all other religions are then compared?
@lightning8675 Not to defend this guy(or Mormonism for that matter),but I wouldn't say what is currently considered Catholicism is the most 'historic' Christianity. Yes, by its name, it has technically existed longer, but when looking at the oldest forms of Christianity...I'd say by beliefs and practices they match up much more closely to the Protestantism of today than the Catholicism of today.Hence the occurrence of the protestant revolution.Anyway, I agree with the rest of what you're saying.
SEC. 2. AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES. (a) IN GENERAL- That the President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons, in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations or persons.
The way he said Moroni sounded kind of like pepperoni lolz. Also, Joseph Smith did not "Found" the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he "Restored" the same gospel and teachings to the Earth that Christ taught. After the crucifixtion and resurrection of christ and after the apostles died, the Gospel and Priesthood power to perform ordinances was taken from the Earth during a time period called "The Great Apostasy". This pastor doesn't seem to know very much about this "Cult".
Jeffries looks like he's standing in the middle of Macy's department store. Hmph, anyway In all fairness the potus is a constitutenial lawyer. He is not embracing non-biblical principles. He is abiding by the constitution by separating church and state. Jeffries thinks it's fine and dandy to elect officials who will ignore the separation and legislate from the church. Fuck you Jeffries
@splicedenergy lol. abiding by the constitution when he orders the drone assassination of an american citizen and categorically refuses to provide his administration's evidence for terrorist actives? or was he upholding the constitution when he spearheaded a healthcare bill which would service to force citizens to purchase goods on the private market? or is he too busy holding prisoners without due-process of law in a military prison in an embargoed country? please educate me. thanks.
@splicedenergy done. where, in the enumerated powers given to the government in the constitution, did obama find the right to assassinate an american citizen without due process of law?
@MacbookProWizard It's been done from day 1. This pres is not doing anything that hasn't been done before. It's not likely that you did. The law is the law. RP like to tout this nonsense as a rule. But then he conveniently forgets the exceptions to them.
@splicedenergy what has been done from day one? i find it amusing that the individual from whom coherent thought is difficult has the audacity to tell me to read the constitution, and then compare me to RP.
@MacbookProWizard the FACT of the situation is this: the administration NEVER presented concrete evidence of Awlaki’s "integral involvement" in day-to-day terrorist operations. as such, we were never able to ascertain whether the use of lethal force against an american citizen without due-process was in fact legal.
@MacbookProWizard cont. (b) War Powers Resolution Requirements- (1) SPECIFIC STATUTORY AUTHORIZATION- Consistent with section 8(a)(1) of the War Powers Resolution, the Congress declares that this section is intended to constitute specific statutory authorization within the meaning of section 5(b) of the War Powers Resolution.(2) APPLICABILITY OF OTHER REQUIREMENTS- Nothing in this resolution supercedes any requirement of the War Powers Resolution. There's the law.
@splicedenergy why are you linking me congressional authorizations? going to link the patriot act next? the administration ordered him killed wherever he was found, again, providing no evidence for his direct involvement in terrorist operations. the fifth amendment couldn't be more clear- and I'm sorry you find the concept so objectionable.
@MacbookProWizard I sent you the link that provides the evience you are claimingdoesnt exist. What you apparently weren't aware of is that for several years Awlaki has been on youtube recruiting terrorists. Those alone are self incriminating. I was aware and seen these vids myself 2-3 years before now. The president acted in the interest of the protection of the American people from terrorist. Seems to me you forgot that whether it's international or domestic a terrorist is a terrorist.
RomneyCare did not intended to include abortions. It was included because the State Supreme court mandated it and not because of his religious beliefs
@twocentsin4 i googled that and that quote came directly from a website called exmormon.com. do you really think it would have accurate information? it wasnt even written by a mormon. what's written is skewed and insulting. for the original information, go to the LDS website. he got his stuff from a talk by Ezra Taft Benson. this wont let me post links, but go to lds.org and type in Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet into the search. If you want the honest information, that is.
@twocentsin4 im sorry that EscapeNewJersey wasnt very nice. it doesnt really help our cause when mormons get upset and respond harshly. i agree with you, though. if even half of what you have been told about mormons was true, i wouldnt be lds either. but i can promise you that it isnt true. i wont preach to you, cuz thats annoying to hear (i know!) but if you really do have questions and want to know the truth, i'd be happy to help. feel free to email me anytime at daniellekoons@gmail.com.
The interview sucks. The term "cult" has little meaning for atheist journalists like Anderson Cooper, and Jeffress doesn't say WHY he feels that way. He should have mentioned that Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism, had 30 plus wives that he kept in secret. Smith married a mother and daughter. Why doesn't Anderson ask WHY Mormonism is a cult?
@jspyder2012 ...your illogical doesn't make sense at all. All beliefs and faiths are in different directions, but by different Gods or Goddness like Jesus, Zeus, Allah, Shiva, Hera and gone on... Anyway not all religions are bad, just some, what ever you believe in.
Just because Joseph Smith founded the church doesn't mean they consider him the "head" of their church. mormons consider jesus christ the head of their church.
Its simple, members of the Church of JESUS CHRIST of latter day saints are CHRISTIANS. It really doesn't hurt to cure your curiosity about Mormonism by researching the main sources. Make your own educational opinion once you have honestly done your research about the history of our religion. Please don't base your negative comments because of what you've heard from non members or ex mormons. Either way, were use to the persecutions so I can't change what you think about our faith. God bless all.
I think Jeffress makes a good argument; he's just overlooking the fact that all of the mentioned religions, including his own, fit his definition of 'theological cult' (except maybe Hinduism... too far back to say).
@prothonotar Good argument? Are you deaf? He was shaking and knowing that he said wrong...Most of all, look at his history, he already does wrongdoing in his life. Plus, he shut the woman up on the News.
@prothonotar totally. great argument. too bad he didnt include all the other religions in the 'theological cult'. gosh they're going to feel left out.
"Men have come to speak of revelation as long ago given and done, as if God were dead. It is the office of a true teacher to show us God is, not was, that he speaketh, not spake. The need was never greater of new revelation than now."

Mitt Romney is a con-man with no core principles or values and has been a leader in what amounts to a spiritual Ponzi scheme. He thus in effect be considered more akin to The Republican Bernie Madoff than the second coming of Ronald Reagan. Reagan never held a leadership position nor was he a member of any mind controlling cult which required former adherents to enter into a Twelve Step Recovery Program (much like drug addicts and alcoholics) to recover from the mind control of said "faith".

laserbeamize 1 month ago
@laserbeamize ...but it is a cult. You have to look at it relatively. In Utah and other regions where there are a large number of Mormons, Mormonism is just another religion. In the American south and in other U.S. Christian conclaves it is a cult. Not so much because of the polygamist history, but because Joseph Smith introduced a NEW BOOK that was not the Bible, the book of Mormon. This is the major sacrilege, evangelicals and other Christian faiths won't ever accept.
MrFaisel34 1 month ago
@MrFaisel34 Do you even know what Bible means? The Bible is a compilation of many BOOKS from a wide span of time and history. You just happen to have all these BOOKS compiled into one bound book today. The Book of Mormon isn't any different, the history written in it is in the same time period and the books in the Bible, just here in the American continent. God loves all his children, not just the select few in Jerusalem. The Book of Mormon is their record of God, just like the Bible, same Jesus
kyranderson 1 month ago
@kyranderson I get where you are coming from, except some people question why Joseph Smith would write the Book of Mormon in 17th century English when he lived in the 19th century. He appeared to be mimicking the King James version of the Bible. Mary Baker Eddy wrote her "Science and Health" in 19th century English, why couldn't Joseph Smith write the Book of Mormon in 19th century English? What was his MO?
MrFaisel34 1 month ago
@MrFaisel34 I think the key thing to understand here is that Joseph Smith didn't write the Book of Mormon, he translated it from the writings of other prophets and apostles from long ago, before the 17th or 19th century, just like the Bible. You can read this on the title page of the Book of Mormon, where it also states that Joseph Smith translated, not wrote. If you haven't already, feel free to get a free copy of it yourself by going to the mormon.org website. Reading it will clear things up!
kyranderson 1 month ago
@kyranderson I have a copy of the book of Mormon. Thank you. You totally missed the point. Joseph Smith wrote the BOM in 17th century English (HINT/CLUE). If you want to believe translated then fine.

@johnlds1965 -- in my state sexual child abuse must be reported to law authorities regardless of the circumstances.
There are hundreds of articles on the internet where this did not happen in the Mormon Church

DillonDee1 1 month ago
@DillonDee1 ROFL. That is completely untrue, and the Articles of Faith, written by Joseph Smith, make that unquestionably clear. As do church policies found in the standard handbooks of instruction as well as those materials distributed to members of the Quorum of the Seventy, which I have perused extensively. Furthermore, what would be wrong with that position if it were true? Are we to assume that all Federal Law, everywhere is enlightened truth?:

debatechick17 3 months ago
@debatechick17 Sorry, Mormons are NOT Christians.
TheSnoopy1750 3 months ago
@TheSnoopy1750 Hmm interesting, i have never heard that before. Do you have valid research to back up those claims or are you just copy and pasting something you found from an anti-mormon website?
sonnydog9 3 months ago
@sonnydog9 Which part?
TheSnoopy1750 3 months ago
@sonnydog9 I welcome you to find any credible peer-reviewed DNA study that says Native Americans have Israeli ancestry.
DNA doesn't lie, but the Book of Mormon does. Joseph Smith was a charlatan.

LOL

@TheSnoopy1750 we will find out who is right when we die :) see you there
stupidpeopleboss 2 months ago
@stupidpeopleboss Face it, Joseph Smith was a charlatan who started the Mormon cult.
Given nobody knew that Indians were of Asian ancestry back in the 1800s, Smith figured he could say anything he wanted, never realizing that DNA testing would eventually be able to show he was a fraud.
He figured his story would carry more weight if the Indians were Israelites (the "chosen" people) so he claimed they were.
The "prophet" Joseph Smith also said Jesus would return to Missouri in 1891. LOL
TheSnoopy1750 2 months ago
@stupidpeopleboss P. 601 of The Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball (Mormon prophet):
"About twenty-five centuries ago, a hardy group left the comforts of a great city, crossed a desert, braved an ocean, and came to the shores of this, their promised land. There were two large families, those of Lehi and Ishmael, who in not many centuries numbered HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of people on these two American continents".
Even with no intermixing, there would be VAST amounts of Indians with Israeli DNA.

LeSiPeKi03 3 months ago
@LeSiPeKi03 Great point! In my opinion, no one follows Christ completely. (If we did, we probably wouldn't be human). There is only ONE source, however, for how one should live a "Christ - following" life, that is the Bible. I agree with you that different denominations of the Christian faith have differing views on issues that perhaps the Biblical scriptures are not completely clear on. As for the issues the Bible is completely clear on, that is where we are alike...
whilewelive1 3 months ago
@LeSiPeKi03 And that is why the Mormons would not be considered Christians, and would be considered a cult. Because they have another authority, The Book of Mormon (as well as other writings and ongoing "revelations" that change their doctrine at times. However!, that being said, if you were to ask the question "Is it possible for a Mormon to be saved?", I would say I think it's just as possible as you or I being saved or someone in the Baptist church being saved. The Bible says it's the way ...
whilewelive1 3 months ago
@LeSiPeKi03 The Bible says the WAY is narrow and few find it. It's harder for a rich man to enter heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, and there's a lot of rich people sitting in churches today. BUT, anything is possible with God, so I believe it's as possible for someone who calls themselves a Mormon to be saved as it is for someone who calls themselves a Baptist, if they are truly in the BIBLE and seeking God. I don't think they would remain in the Mormon church...
whilewelive1 3 months ago

LeSiPeKi03 3 months ago

LeSiPeKi03 3 months ago
@whilewelive1 If you truly believed in the Bible, then you would also believe in "ongoing revelation" to a modern/current Prophet; that is if Christ's church exited on the earth today.God's word has always been "ongoing", and if it isn't, then it's because we are not willing to find it and listen to whom He has sent it to. If we only believed in dead Prophets and that God has stopped speaking, then we should have stopped listening to every single Prophet that came after Adam.....................
LeSiPeKi03 3 months ago
@whilewelive1 Keep in mind, if Martin Luther believed Catholics to be "true" Christians he wouldve never "protested" their beliefs in the first place. Martin Lurther fundamentally believed that the Catholic church did NOT preach the same Gospel as Christ and His Apostles which is why he was the father of the "Protestant/Reformation" movement. So to Martin Luther, Catholics were not true Christians either...

So who is right and the bottom line, why should religi
roytoy 4 months ago
@roytoy,
Technically, they[Baptist and the like] would have to trace their origins at least 15 years before Henry VIII decided to annul his marriage, right back to when good ol' Luther nailed the Catholic Church with his 95 Theses.

Jeffress looks awkward just smiling the whole time during the video. It's like he is trying to put on a show to help his reputation. He says that he is Christian except he is passing hugh judgments towards another which is un-Christian.

A cult has a human founder. Who said Joseph Smith is the founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints, the founder is Jesus Christ.

Did he make up this name, "historic Christianity" that he is trying to pass off as the gold standard by which all other religions are then compared?
lightning8675 4 months ago 14

Fuck you Jeffries
splicedenergy 4 months ago
@splicedenergy lol. abiding by the constitution when he orders the drone assassination of an american citizen and categorically refuses to provide his administration's evidence for terrorist actives? or was he upholding the constitution when he spearheaded a healthcare bill which would service to force citizens to purchase goods on the private market? or is he too busy holding prisoners without due-process of law in a military prison in an embargoed country? please educate me. thanks.
MacbookProWizard 4 months ago
@MacbookProWizard Yeah, perhaps you should go read the constitution
splicedenergy 4 months ago
@splicedenergy done. where, in the enumerated powers given to the government in the constitution, did obama find the right to assassinate an american citizen without due process of law?
MacbookProWizard 4 months ago
@MacbookProWizard It's been done from day 1. This pres is not doing anything that hasn't been done before. It's not likely that you did. The law is the law. RP like to tout this nonsense as a rule. But then he conveniently forgets the exceptions to them.
splicedenergy 4 months ago
@splicedenergy what has been done from day one? i find it amusing that the individual from whom coherent thought is difficult has the audacity to tell me to read the constitution, and then compare me to RP.
MacbookProWizard 4 months ago

There's the law.
splicedenergy 4 months ago
@splicedenergy why are you linking me congressional authorizations? going to link the patriot act next? the administration ordered him killed wherever he was found, again, providing no evidence for his direct involvement in terrorist operations. the fifth amendment couldn't be more clear- and I'm sorry you find the concept so objectionable.
MacbookProWizard 4 months ago
@MacbookProWizard I sent you the link that provides the evience you are claimingdoesnt exist. What you apparently weren't aware of is that for several years Awlaki has been on youtube recruiting terrorists. Those alone are self incriminating. I was aware and seen these vids myself 2-3 years before now. The president acted in the interest of the protection of the American people from terrorist. Seems to me you forgot that whether it's international or domestic a terrorist is a terrorist.

Nepthu 4 months ago
@jspyder2012 ...your illogical doesn't make sense at all. All beliefs and faiths are in different directions, but by different Gods or Goddness like Jesus, Zeus, Allah, Shiva, Hera and gone on... Anyway not all religions are bad, just some, what ever you believe in.
dunnooooo1234789 4 months ago
Just because Joseph Smith founded the church doesn't mean they consider him the "head" of their church. mormons consider jesus christ the head of their church.
davidarchuletafan26 4 months ago 2
