  • Using a chainsaw on thick stems, why not I have and still would when required.

  • i always use a billhook but have a chainsaw to hand either way is fine i just prefer the traditional method but also if time is against i see no reason why a chainsaw shouldn't be introduced?

  • I would love to do hedgelaying,it's a real top of my wants list job, where there is a will there is a way I guess.

  • Hedgelaying with a CHAINSAW? Sacriledge!!

  • There have been a nunber of occasions when I have won open classes at competitions using only a chainsaw for the main cuts. I only used a chainsaw in the National Hedgelaying competition in 2004 and in 2005 I won the best regrowth prize for that hedge.

  • Its more important to pleach correctly with any tool rather that being tool pacific. I also use the chainsaw because its faster & when on contract time is money. Iv also won comps & regrowth prizes with the saw including class 10 at the national hedgelayin championship yesterday 27 oct 2007. YEEHHHH :-)

  • @negligiblepond if you are skilled enough, why not?

  • Its time we had some hedge laying on here, nice one damon
