Well the German tribes "invaded" or let us say settled along with "Finnish" and Russian In the areas were earlier only the samis lived, mostly Scandinavia,much further back in history than when Columbus "Discovered" America. There are so many theoris As to when and How this actually accured so I´m not putting out any dates but we are talking about many tousands of years. This is not an original Native american chant. It is a sami joik/chant. The sami (lapps/lapplanders) people live in the north of Scandinavia and Russia. The sami people resambles the Native Americans in many ways but they live in EUROPE!!! As a descender of this people I feel I have to set the record straight.

@vastell This recording of Terje Tretnes was made by Dutch television, finding the original recording without Virgin's remix might be difficult. Other recordings of 'Normo Jovnna' or 'Normu Jovnna' are by Piera Balto (in the 1970s), Áigi (cf. YouTube) and Angelin Tytöt (cf. iTunes Music Store). Several Native American groups have also made recordings of this chant. Jon Normo of Karasjok was a bear hunter in the artic region of Norway and Finland.

Their language is distantly related to Finnish; genetically they are quite distinct from other Europeans but even more from all known Asiatic peoples. Probably a Fennic tribe which became isolated from Finns millennia ago.
