Those 17 officers all got killed because they refused to except the reality of the situation. Then 24 years later Terminator Cromartie killed 20 FBI agents.
When I saw this scene it absolutely freaked me out. But I also remembered that Arnold was playing a Terminator who felt no pain or fear, he was a machine not human.
I've heard about this theory, though this would leave another plot hole. If this was the case why wouldn't they do the same thing to weapons? So they could use their future kick ass-guns to fight the terminators? In Terminator 1 Reese gets interviewed on this idea (Where he claims that nothing living gets through). Though we must have in mind that Reese was just a soldier and didn't understand, or knew, about any specifics about the time machine. Either way, plot hole...
It's called a paradox. Try not to think to hard about it. I liked the writing better the first time around (though, admittedly, it's not much different); it felt more original. Not to mention, I liked the several of the characters better the first time around: the two cops, Ed and Ed; Kyle Reese; evil Arnie; younger Doc Silverman.
"I didn't build the fucking thing!" Ahahahaha, I love that whole interview. Kyle's dialogue is classic!
when Kyle Reese says "nobody goes home, nobody else comes through," how are the events in T2 explained? The T-1000 and T-800, in T2, are sent back in time AFTER Reese was sent back. What's the deal ?
I agree with you, the story line really does get rather confusing following T2 and T3. If nothing dead can come through how come that T-1000, or T-X for that matter, gets through since they're not surrounded by living tissue, but liquid metal?
"I didn't Build The Fucking thing" One of my favorite sayings.

lol I like how that one bald cop (can't remember his name) walks right past the Terminator on his way out.

This is my favourite scene. They just don't believe Reese, then he looses it. "He'll rip her fucking heart out!!!"

Whenever we come upon situations lik this it's always the result of a wizard's intervention.
How can people still go back in time?
-A Wizard did it.
