hi, i'm not too sure if you can help me, My female mum lovebird has neglected my 1-2week old lovebird baby? I have been feeding him a baby lovebird solution, but the only way i can feed him on going is if i take him to work with me everyday, is it safe to take him away from his family at this young age? Will he get lonely or too cold?
this reminds me of my pet lovebird ,he was fully grown then my big brother let him out of the cage and drowned him in water...my brother was 11 years old!!! and then he did it again and this time my bird flew away :( i really love him and love me but he hated my big brother (and thats why it takes responcibility for pets) R.I.P. Lovebird :(
thanks so much for posting this! I just bought two babies from a breeder who briefly showed me how to feed them. I realize from your video that Im not feeding enough or holding them right. Thanks so much. Your birds are beautiful
how often do u feed them? our birds just booted out two babies [making room for moore eggs!] i've been feeding them 1 to 2 times every two hours.. they squeek now and again, so i mix up the formula and feed untill they stop begging for it.. im worried about sleeping tonight tho!!!
PLEASE REPLY ASAP: Two chicks of this size fell out of its nest today, im afraid to put them back as the parents might hurt them. WHAT and HOW do i feed them?
@lankangirl4life We say that when an something bad is about to happen to you, your pets take it upon themselves.SO you were saved. Be very careful the next time .
umm what happens if ur lovebirds one of its eyes like blinks when the other doesnt like its left eye takes long to blink and sometime the left eye is closed when the right one is open idk if thts normal and also when it falls asleep it grits its beak as like when u grit ur teeth plz reply back
handfeeding babies has never been easy and to be honest the fact that you don't get them mess is amazining cause i tell you when i use to feed them when i was younger covered in baby food and i hate when they walk around never sit still for nothing!!
how to train a love birds to not fly away if you let them out of their cage
i try to put out my bird in his cage but it fly away so i buy a new one i did'nt try to put again my bird because i scared that it will fly away again
your bird is so hyper, my new baby parrot is very quiet, it just laying there and it doesn't make a sound. is there something wrong with it? do i need to take it out of the nest to have some light(black square nest). the bird looks about the same age as your bird.
hey juz wanted to noe i gt a 14 day old baby and wanted to noe if i need to put it in a brooder and hw may times must i feed it a day coz im schooling
@Navyseal925 You probably have the answer already, but if not, yes you can fix splayed legs if the bird is still young enough. I have had two baby's with splayed legs and was able to catch it early enough and correct the problem. Look up splayed legs on internet and you will find lots of information.
hi my lovebirds has laid 2 eggs, for about at leat 3 weeks, and is it ok sometimes if the mom goes out of her nest for awhile?? bcuz i hope the egss dnt get cold...and hw long does it take for them to hatch?
no it will take some time..somtimes even MONTHs for them to get along, its a process where u have to be patient with them, and once they get along they will then depending on the season like Jan to MArch they will have eggs..
I love this video. Please post more, I used to have a love bird but she is gone now and seeing this makes me feel better. I love lovebirds Thank you for posting this video.
is it ok to leave your baby lovebirds that hatch to be raised by the parents and not interfere if they are taking care of them, and let them feed them and all that?
@stargazrt4 thank you. I have a fichers and a peach face and the fichers laid some eggs but she has before and they've never hatched but this time 2 of them did, and have decided to keep them and want them to grow up ok lol.
I'm shocked though she is extremely caring and delicate with them, normaly she isn't that nice and is always moody and sharpens her beak like a needle lol was scared for the babies at first. the peach faced daddy is the opposite and is always gentle, but it was hand raised
@blueiceplayer Hmm. Well this means you have hybrids. That isn't really a good thing and is frowned upon in the lovebird community. It is highly likely that these babies will be weak genetically and physically. The hybridization is probably why the previous eggs did not hatch. Good Luck, but be prepared.
@stargazrt4 yes, I don't intend to breed but I don't want to kill them or get rid of them, so I intend to keep them and hope everything works out of the best and no more babies!!!! lol
Roudybush Handfeeding formula. We sell it in our store under breeding supplies. It's the best formula and we don't recommend anything else (nor does our vet).
We start the weaning process at 3-4 weeks just by feeding them some solids. They will wean between 6-8 weeks depending on the bird. Most wean around 8 weeks.
That makes more sense....thanks for the info.... and how do you know when the bird is full and needs no more feeding?...i wont ask anymore questions...
Well 1 sign they are bonded is the male will feed the female and if ur not sure dont put up a nest box coz the female would just go in the box,u want them to socialize 1st,let them get to know each other for a while then u can put up a nesting box.
they both get in the nest box but they dont feed each other the breeder i bought it from said there bonded but if they both get in is that good or should i take it away for a while
i have a black masket african lovebird with green bodies and only one egg hatched so far and he/she looks like yors but like the colors of his parents but the other two didnt hatch (only had 3 eggs) so what should i do with the eggs?
Hibraddah, please do your research before you think you can give lovebird advice. There is NO black-masked Ficher's. There are Black-masked Lovebirds and Black-cheeked Lovebirds, but No BMF. Opaline is a mutation of PF's so that comment is also pointless.
my lovebirds just laid a few eggs 4 only 1 survived but they kicked it out leaving me to take care of it, I feed it the baby bird food the pet store gave me but i started to notice hes rather small. any tips on feed him? hes about a week old
well the male lovebird keeps eating the eggs we got him another girl but he rejected her i just want some tips on how to get the male to stop eating the eggs the breeds are fishers and blackmasked fisher
There is no "blackmasked fischer's." Please do your reaserch before you get into the responsibility of breeding innocent life. You're trying to produce hybrids plus you are not even spelling "fischer's" correctly. You are trying to produce hybrides which is a big no-no in the bird world which breeders do not do. Some birds eat eggs, you can not get them to stop. But what is more important is that your bird have a great life. Give him his origianl mate back. Would U like it if I took your mate?

I just watched a video on parrotparrot and she feeds her lovebirds in the opposite direction as you. So, which way is the correct way? Does it matter which side you aim the siringe? I like your way better cause it's cleaner and you also sound sweeter ;0) Awesome video!
Our way. We were taught by a Board Certified Avian vet and seasoned breeders who have been breeding even before avian medicine was thought of. Feeding in this direction makes sure that the food goes down the esophagus and not the trachea.
Do both parents help raise the babies? What is the males role once the eggs hatch? I only ask this because I have 1 male and two female lovebirds. The two females don't like each other, so I keep them seperated, so one has their own cage and the male and one female share a cage. The male mated with the female he is not housed with repeatedly. If she does lay fertile eggs as a result of this, do I need to put the male in with her? Thanks.
Great lovebirds! I'm planning to get one because they're eyes are very cute and most of all, it's because my parakeet died a week ago from oldness :_< So I still have cage for 2 or 3 small parrots like lovebirds. My mother also likes them because they are very cute!
P.S. I know how to handle them but I don't want them to breed, can anyone tell me if I can buy just one lovebird for a start cause I read an encyclopedia and hey told me that if it is alone, it will always try to get your attention
The birds are so cute! I would love to be able to hand feed one to form a closer bond but to do so every 3 hours around the clock is a near impossibility for me on my schedule.
Kudos to you guys
Sure the birds love the attention they get as much as you like giving it to them.
Thank you for the compliments, but hand feeding does not guarantee a bond. A bird does not stay with their parents forever, they go away and bond with a mate. The same is in captivity. Tamara and I also work full time jobs as teachers and administrators.
hi fellow bird lover I breed budgies and now also have 2 pairs of lovebirds and so far have 6 live eggs.Parents doing well .. can i just ask what type of formula you use im in the uk.Many thanks videos are a joy to watch sean ...uk.
thank you so much for your videos, please keep posting them. my bird loves hearing them, she came from a large family to only her and i think it makes her feel better. i wish i lived where you guys do, i'd love a baby from you. you obviously care very much for them.
Tammy and Rodney....please help. My female has 4 babies about 3 weeks old. My male died last night. What will happen now? What should I do?? Thewy have been a breeding pair for 4 years!! Should I buy a new male for her to help feed? Should I give them all away? I have no clue what to do. Please call me at 610-918-8397
Excellent. My lovies just had two babies today & we are waiting on 2 more eggs. I cant wait to be doing this and now I know how to do it, well I can see how someone else has done it.

The two females don't like each other, so I keep them seperated, so one has their own cage and the male and one female share a cage. The male mated with the female he is not housed with repeatedly. If she does lay fertile eggs as a result of this, do I need to put the male in with her? Thanks.

Dad feeds mom and helps feed the babies when they get older.

I have like 20 lovebirds now... how do you stop them from breeding??
Melissatan96 2 years ago
You treat the parents like pets and family. Let them out of their cages to play, spend time with you, and forage for their food.

Feeding a little fast to be honest. I let them stop for a second then start again.

Don't worry, it's not too fast.

The tempo is set by the feeding response of the chicks, not us. Every baby is different, and it is up to them.

i just use warm tap water

Warm tap water may not be hot enough. The formula needs to be 102-109 Fahrenheit.
