right after watching this i took what we had left of our Crest toothpaste, a dirty pair of socks and a water hose and went to work on the headlights of my 07 Altima...Wont say it made the new again( probably cuz i waited so long to clean them) but it damn sure made a huge differance...THANKS MOE
My cars has glass halo projectors. i ended up scratching them with the buffer..... you can just use a soft cloth dude its less of a risk scratching expensive headlights. worked great on the fog lamps though. thanks for the idea.
Good. I just wouldn't rest the buffer on the hood of the car, especially if it did not belong to me. Just sayin. I'll give the toothpaste a try, thanks.
I admire your process but , I used just the toothpaste, a little rubbing with a sock, and rinsed with cool water. My oxidated headlamps shined like brand new. The whole process took less than 10 minutes on both headlamps. I used Colgate and it worked great. Your procedure w. the buffing, windex, toothpaste etc, may be needed for badly oxidated headlamps. I did my neighbors Dodge Neon and her headlamps were far worse than yours and I simply applied the toothpaste, scrubbed and rinsed. Thanks
Using Toothpaste is not good, I have seen the corrosive impact on the plastic lens it also eats away the Paint you should be using tape to avoid contact with paint I do Professional Headlight Restoration, and I even seal headlights, If you don't know what your doing this is a cheap way to go but over all you can do more damage then good Stick to stuff that really works Headlight Restoration Kits by 3M are 19 bucks on eBay will get the job done right, Hire A pro if you don't know what your doing
I used toothpaste on one of my 2002 RSX"s on the headlight and after 2 minutes per light and one application my headlights were noticablyclearer. I'm going to get a power polisher and make them even more clear. My other RSX is a 2002 Turbo Type-S but I put new JDM Type-R looking black background headlights on it
I don't think the window cleaner is necessary. Good idea just incase but...
Toothpaste doesn't even "whiten" teeth. All toothpaste mainly is, is baking soda or a solution of such called Scope. Baking soda doesn't break down as much or as fast as many other compounds. Buying the professional abrasive cleaners is doing just the same job as toothpase, cleaning by abrasion.
Nice vid! Should include a video of cleaning the inside! (:
@moedogger21 there is a simpler way that is just as good i used ultrabrite and paper towels and it worked just as good on lights that were just as yellow as that neon and they looked almost new
We did this a few months ago in order to pass inspection. Didn't have a buffer, just used a damp rag, toothpaste (Colgate! lol) and lots of elbow grease. Have to do it again every couple of months, but it sure beats the cost of new headlight modules.

The comments on the video were enlightening concerning using any brand of tooth paste containing baking soda.

NelsonBC12 10 months ago 2
@NelsonBC12 Yes its just about the abrasive quality of the toothpaste. The window cleaners more about cleaning up the toothpaste then anything.
moedogger21 9 months ago 3
@NelsonBC12 Toothpaste contains silica which acts as an abrasive on your teeth. That's why it works for headlights.
