  • COPIED OFF TWC TODAY OR TWC CLASSICS

  • These were the good old days when it was fun to watch the weather channel. The reports were good, local on the 8s was awesome...heck, even the weather itself was more interesting 10 years ago, at least where I live.

  • I remember the v1 from watching it on Paragon Cable in Arlington, Texas. I used to want to stay at my aunt's house and watch this. Because I like the v1 better than the v2 in Irving, TX.

  • Hey I remember this stuff. Yeah, the Weather Channel showed this stuff about rain and snow and thunderstorms and played good music rather than crappy pop music. I thought I had just dreamed that.....

  • ok when it says sunday night why does the forcast say pop 60?

  • "pop" means probability of precipitation. The number 60 means 60%. It could still rain even if it is night out.

  • Keep in mind that the forecast information was provided by the NWS before TWC decided to use their own information around 2003.

  • The old local forecast intro music brings back memories. I wish they would reinstate it.

  • Baldwin hardware is OUT OF BUSINESS, j/k :) Im so glad all these classic weather channel local forecasts are posted.

  • This song was also played in October 2008.

  • This song originally played in 1997.

  • yeah i love this song i remember when they use to play it what a beautiful tune.i also miss the old days on the weather channel the intro for the local on the 8's was great the little music.loved it.

  • I so miss this format.

  • sasme here!!

  • I didn't like that year. We were in a bad drought and I badly missed my friend who had moved away.

  • I loved those days.

    :)

  • wow i remember these types of local on the eights. and i remember warrden what happen to him>

  • Reminds me of how great TWC was back in the days. The music they used from 1999-2009 was pretty much the only reason why I would watch that channel.

  • i always thought of this music when i would first get off an airplane in Florida

  • Reminds me of when I was 10.

  • lol!

  • lol!

  • What is the song sample when they say And now its time for your local forecast.

  • Unknown production music used by The Weather Channel from 1998 to 2001.

  • this song is hot .love it

  • Clear, Low in the mid 50's Light wind. "Sunday. Mostly Sunny early. with 40% chance of an afternoon thunderstorm. High around 80 South wind 10 to 15 MPH. Sunny Night. Thunderstorm. Likely. Lowsi nthe upper 50's pop 60.

  • That was my favortie jazz locla forcast music.

  • TWC played a lot of smooth jazz

  • @SilentNight700 bowchicawowwowawowwow

  • @wilson809isback Haha XD

  • @ is bob stores now is jail for ever

  • This must be one of a few lucky WeatherStar XLs that have no narration whatsoever.

  • Mine had no narration from 1999-2000 and 2002-2004.

  • This was back before they introduced narration in 2004

    Ah... good times, good times

  • Narration actually debuted in the 80s. ;)

Then it went awy from 1995-2000.

  • Yes, but back then narration wasn't powered by the STAR, but rather from a national feed.

  • Narration was actually introduced in 2000. This version of the Weather Star XL was the first one to introduce a feature called "Vocal Local", which is, indeed, narration.

  • I like it remenbed i carly and the 80s

  • I stand corrected. Narration was, indeed, introduced in the 80s, but it was nothing like Vocal Local.

  • Thanks for the video response :-)

My video was actually the first time I had ever heard the song on the local on the 8's.

  • yes is true

  • I just heard this song today on TWC!

  • This is a video response to the source of that information.

  • I heard this song during the Local Forecast last weekend. It is fantastic to hear these older songs. I also enjoyed it when, in Fall 2007, the Local Forecast incorporated the instrumental version of The Dream Academy's cover of The Smiths' Song "Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want" (as featured in the art museum scene in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off").

  • I love the weather channel. It sucks now with all this new crap they have. They can't just leave it like the classic it should be.

  • people want the old weather channel but it wouldnt work now

  • @ the very beginning, was that Bob Strok...er Stokes?

  • No, that's Warren Madden. Bob Stokes is the one with the grey hair. He [Bob Stokes] is about to retire from TWC soon.

  • Actually, Bob Stokes was the one that was fired (and he certainly didn't have gray hair, either). Marshall Seese is the one that's retiring from TWC in November.

  • good times....good times....

  • Nope, stands for "Probability of Precipitation."

  • Pause at 1:12 and read the forecast. It says "Pop 60" lol

  • good catch! lol what's with that?!

  • Correction: That means "Probabilty of precipitation".

  • oh yeah i just read another comment here i might have some videos of the chimes.i enjoyed that alot myself.i have some weather channel local on 8's clips on my old vhs tapes.i shoudl look threw them cuz there are some sonng on there id liek to knwo the names of and maybe someone else out here woudl like to hear them too.its good to knwo there are other weather chanel fans out here.not just me!

  • I miss how the translucent black bar at the bottom. Now we're stuck with an opaque one (except on TWC HD, but that's going to change this summer).

  • Unfortunantly, TWCHD doesn't have a LDL except during LOt8s. I also miss the same XL LDL. Why did TWC make it more like the IntelliStar's?

  • If that's true, then I will just stop watching twc all together.

  • By the time TWC HD is here, there will be a new STAR. Meaning that it will have a new LDL.

  • Oh, sorry, I should have made it clearer. They (should) be releasing a new local version of the HD STAR on June 2nd, along with Your Weather Today and Evening Edition in their new studio.

  • Correction: The new STAR will have a LDL.

  • I have this song, pm me if anyone wants it in full length, thanks.

  • Please count me in. =)

  • Every time I hear it, it reminds me of a beach strangely enough. I guess that song really does make me think of summer, lol.

  • I miss the weather channel back then. I hate it now since they were bought by WSI and crappu weather. (lol!)

  • I don't think TWC is in any way related to Accu-Weather.I guess that's why WABC in NY is tied to Accu-Weather & WCBS teams up with TWC.

  • i liked the openings back then

  • The Weather Channel, from 1992-2000 (maybe 2001) was when it was at it's best. I've never cared for the XL but this song makes it a little better. =]

  • yes definately. i miss the old weather channel!!

  • Does anyone know who done the instrumental jazz version of Foolish Heart that was orignally done by Journey. The weather channel use to play it all the time but I can't remember what year.

  • To anyone who wants this out of print song on cd email the weather channel and ask them to put it on the next cd.Their planning on releasing more cds soon and they still have this song.I've emailed them about this one.The cd they just released is a great cd but it doesn't have this song on it.

  • Its Very Nostalgic, lol

  • It's unavailable

  • That's what I thought.

  • This was my favorite WeatherStar XL version! Thanks for uploading.

  • I was hoping to find out if Apple has that music for sell on their iTunes store. And thanks for the compliments.

  • Wow, I miss the old WeatherSTAR XL. Very glad to see that you uploaded it.

  • Thank you. I, too, also miss this old WeatherSTAR XL version as well. That's one reason why I uploaded it.

  • Yes, this song is called "My Dancing Heart" by Chris Camozzi.
