  • is it safe to put torches in with clown fishes? i've heard the fish usually end up killing the torches?

i want to know as i want to get a torch for my clown too when i eventually start my nano

  • My torch coral is thriving, after a year of clownfish hosting. It doesn't act at all bothered by the clownfish. So, if I were you, I'd go ahead and get that torch. :)

  • @Learithe is it still ok today

  • Yep! Although I did get an RBTA anemone awhile back, and the clownfish mainly moved into that, she still visits the torch coral regularly. The torch coral never showed any sign of being bothered.

  • cool

  • nice tank...do torch corals sting like an anemone does?

  • yes, torch corals do sting.

  • I think the torch would sting worse wouldn't it? Worse then a BTA anyway.

  • Can saddleblack clownfish could host some corals too? becuase I have two pairs already with my percula clownfish in a 20 gallon nano. what kind of corals would my saddleblack clownfish could host in please send me a list?

  • Its a thing of beauty. lol. very nice video you have here. there oh so cute.

  • "Hosting" is an informal term, which basically just means that the clownfish is hanging out in it, as if it was an anemone.

  • What does hosting mean?

  • Bearing host to. If you have someone over for dinner, you are hosting that person. In this case, the torch coral is host to the clownfish, because the clownfish is living in the torch coral.

  • exactly...Clowns dont host...anemones, and in this case torch corals, do...people commonly screw this up

  • Very commonly. Certainly not technically correct; more like reefer slang. Mostly because it's easier to say, I think. ;)
