  • why take boats, when you can take planes

  • Keep these movies coming for those of us that don't take the chance to get out their sad but true !!!!!! GREAT MAN !!!!!!!!!

  • ocean life nothing better!!!

  • I can see you had lots of time ti edit the film

    Nice thanks

  • pretty good taste in music for a bunch of old farts

  • @skillzflux Cheers.

  • My dad, my mother and I sailed around the world in a sailingvessel, my dad wrote

a book about it (mal seh'n wie weit wir kommen) (by Hans Habeck), but it's in German, check it out on Amazon. Bye

  • Exelent video. That's my plan for the future, I made a mistake buying a searay 3855 which is a good boat, but not for cruising like that and that is my dream God bless you guys

  • What a life!

  • Bet thats highly edited version!! Whatabout storms - swearing when the rig snaps from storm damage !!!!

  • @perininavisailing No need to use a pole...well, that is, the railing becomes the 'pole'. Just attach the reel to the railing and you're done!

  • looked a littel sunburnt

  • I already did that swimming

  • Someday .... I hope... I will !

  • Guys this is amazing!!!!! I've always want to do a trip like that...

Tell me, how were those nights? Cold I guess :)

How did you handle with the nights sailing? Always 1 person every couple of hours, while the others were sleeping?

    The video is awesome!! :D

  • @QQmelo There were three of us on board, with four-hour shifts each. If I remember correctly, my shifts were 12 noon till 4pm, and from 12 midnight till 4am. The night sailing was absolutely magic. Quiet, dark, moody, sometimes with phosphorous illuminating where we had been....very cool. I did the trip through Reliance Yacht Management in London...looking them up if you're keen for an adventure :-)

  • what was the cost of this boat?

  • @PGTIPMONKEY1 I have no idea.

  • Great video...nice choice of Lemon Jelly.

  • Ouch! Sunburn at 6:07

  • Isn't the Atlantic supposed to be green?

  • Awesome! Trip & video!

    Bravi!

    Ps

Next time you'd go.... Call me!

  • Very entertaining, you really captured the feel of sailing.

  • you guys could have reached 10 knots easily if you had the BMW ORACLE sails with a dual mast like the dragonfly 3500

  • look's like you guys had a wonderfull time.

  • What is the name of the first song?

  • @tobigforyou Hmmmmm....good question. It may be a song by Lemon Jelly, but I am not sure....very bad of me not to credit, I know...

  • @14degrees ramblin man lemon gelly

  • @tobigforyou It's called "Ramblin Man" by Lemon Jelly

  • @SeanOBriain THANK-YOU! You rock!!

  • @tobigforyou no probs buddy :)

  • @tobigforyou

It's "Ahoy There" by Mr Scruff

  • What boat is this?

  • @JustWonderingHowToDo It is a Lagoon 420 catamaran.

  • Looks epic

  • 16 Knots!!! you catamaran sailors are having a good time. We're aboard a lovely monohull and JAZZED when we're getting six and a quarter knots.

    Thanks for posting.

    Ray & Karen

  • @svprovidence Hi Ray and Karen....I think you may be mistaken...the 16 knots at 3:45 in the video is the wind-speed. It is more or less on the beam, and we can only get 5 knots of speed out of that 16 knots! It was a very slow catamaran. We too were JAZZED when we got 6 knots!

  • @14degrees ..you're right on about the speed, the 420s were nortorious for being under powered so you couldn't have picked a slower cat to make that trip on.. good cats should avg.10/15 knots in a good blow any day, but those Lagoons were made for chartering, not breaking any speed records crossing the Atlantic..

  • @ANICON2006 Very true. The 420 was a beautifully comfortable boat (even though this one we were on only had the bare essentials).

  • If were to buy a 36 ft monohull and did some intensive training how long would it take me to be competant enough to sail a circumavigation (avoiding the capes and southern ocean)? I am a very fast leaner, not afraid of taking risks and have spent a lot of time on boats doing liveaboard diving so I'm used to life at sea as a passenger. I would be training in the north sea / english channel which has challenging conditions.

  • I would love to have done that

  • jelly belly lol super

  • do they sail all night long are stop at night and drift ?

  • @lar5220 There were three of us on board, so we sailed 24 hours a day on 4-hour watch rotations.

  • She's cleaning the poop deck

  • @OHFORSTANG Haha poop deck

  • @TheTroglodyteKing

It's referred to as a binnacle compass, but that's only because of its location...on the binnacle. More specifically, it's a gimbal-mounted, liquid filled compass. Hope that helps.

  • Great Impressions :-)

  • the fear of being at sea on a tiny boat excites me so much i have to sail to australia. what an odd feeling. being completely terrified to be so far off land and away from any humans and excited to get to this point.i have to do this no more procrastinating

    thanks for the inspiration.

  • I want to do that! I only have one concern: does having nothing but ocean all around for so many days get tiresome?

  • did u guys get any storm on the way??

  • Looks like an great experience!

  • This looks like so much fun...

  • It's a typical compass, they are fairly simple objects.

  • nice!

  • Great video, thanks for posting it!

  • if you jumped off the bow do you think the dolphins would swim / play with you?

  • Hmmmm...dunno. I think they just liked the novelty of a fast-moving object...

  • thats what i was going to do, right off the front of the bow in front of them. i want to get 5 people together to buy a sailing cruiser.

  • excellent job.

  • I'm not sure what that compass is called....a sailing compass? Sorry, I've never been much of a sailor...

  • Great video and great music. What are the songs called (the first and second)?

    Thank you :)

  • Living the dream..

  • very nice video

  • how dose your yacht cole plz tell me

    ????

  • Terrific!!! I love it....

    Good winds,

    Lilian Bianchi from Brazil

  • JohnKible, I seriously doubt you ever did anything with your miserable life so who are you to tell others about theirs!!!!!

  • where'd you get power from, on such a crossing (for GPS and such)? Did you just conserve battery, or got sun energy?

Was the weather that good all the way? Didn't you get some high seas on the way?

  • The yacht was a Lagoon 420, which has a diesel generator on board. We took quite a lot of extra fuel!

The weather was absolutely perfect the whole way. We never got any really bad weather. Tailwinds for over 2 weeks, and only one week of very calm weather where we had to motor for most of the time - it was a yacht delivery, so we had to keep moving.

  • shock treatment =)?

well Digitize may also need some funds,

but yea, that's all it takes - a sailing course to kick off.

  • Why are you so hostile? Geesh man, chill!

  • A really great video that made me daydream as I sit in my office :)

In my 30 years I have only been on boats for periods of only a few hours. Still this is my lifelong dream. I hope that I will one day also experience the thrill and adventure of crossing the atlantic ocean and living on a small boat for a prolonged period of time.

  • Digitize69, Hope that your dreams come true one day, don't let jerkoffs like boy JohnKible and their kind stop you from reaching them. Good luck

  • I 1st mated for reliance and did les sables to st. lucia on a lagoon 420. we pulled in the day ike hit houston. hurricane alley was nice to us. i just posted my halyard line breaking video.

  • Greaaaat! I want be there

  • pretty brave to cross the Atlantic

  • Comment removed

  • I guess you krauts are into that kinda thing... ;)
