  • BRAVO!!!!!

  • lalalalalalala great

  • i had to comment on this. Great vocals. As i said before, I grew up in the 80's and I love this

  • This song is a definitive doo-wop anthem. It was originally known as Remember When before it was changed to Remember Then.

  • @edwardwbalen Ed, that's right. Beverly Ross and I wrote it..then this other slaeze producer recorded it with the Earls, changed the title, made the lyric worse, and put his name on it. Bev and I sued, but it was either spend a lot of money, and time, in a lawsuit while all royalties were held up, or settle...which we did. I still have some regrets about it. To be clear it had nothing to do with The Earls...they just sang it...and did a great job for sure. thanx for the note. peace, tony

  • beatles not that special? good lord...as they say, look it up!!!

  • wow man this song is so pretty. better than anything they could hope to make nowadays

  • @carlover89 Yes, it truly is a very beautiful song! No, nothing nowadays even comes close to real music. So-called "singers" nowadays no longer sing-more like they chant. I have heard modern-day "music" and those wannabes couldn't care a tune in a basket! Doo Wop was so marvelous- they could sing back then!!! Good music went the way of drive-in theatres, 15cent glass 16oz. pop bottles, and cars made of metal instead of plastic...wish I could go back to those wondrous, innocent days...

  • @59Skott thanx so much for the props. tony

  • Oh yeah, and doowop at its best, this song is fucking amazing.

  • This was real, The beatles, who i hated ruined real music.

  • @TheJoey1s Get your sentence straight, the beatles are the best, Doo wop like this revolutionized the 50s along with elvis, carl perkins, buddy holly etc, and the Beatles changed the face of music if it weren't for the Beatles we wouldn't have much rock or psychedelic music. the beatles revolutionized pop, rock, and psychedelic music. The Beatles were real music. Enough said.

  • @HardcorePartyMonster Wrong! ;)

  • @TheJoey1s What are you, like 80 years old? Geez.

  • @TheJoey1s exactly. finaly someone who agrees that the beatles are not that special!

  • @TheJoey1s Yeh they really did ruin rock and roll, it went from kids in leather jackets and fast cars to kids with long hair and coward beliefs and laziness

  • @TheJoey1s I totally agree with you Joey.... Those beatles were the first wave of the British "Reptillian" Invasion that was to corrupt and set the guidlines in pop culture since then and here out. Those Devils!!!

  • Great song by you Tony ! thank you

  • hi guys, my name is tony powers...i wrote Remember Then with Beverly Ross way back when. I'm glad you've enjoyed it all these years. Peace, tony

  • @TonyPowers22 Thank you.

  • @Zipgunn1 ur welcome.

  • @TonyPowers22 Hey Tony i'm glad to be able to say how much happy I am for typing you some words, and i want to say thank you, this music you wrote, believe me, helped me a lot when I'd been down depressed because of a girl, i almost died of a brokenhearted, but I didn't, i used to listen your song many time a day, and I survived... but still today almost 8 years after she broked my heart, "My mind wanders now and then", believe me that's why I say thank you :)

  • @Hothschild thanx for the kind words. i truly appreciate them. peace, tony

  • @TonyPowers22 Great song performed by a great group. I think Larry Chance was among the best leads during the era. Tony were you ever in a group and did you write additional hits.....hope you collected your royalties. I heard a lot of writers and performers got ripped off during that era. Thanks again for the song!!!!

  • @TonyPowers22 --- Well thank you so much Tony!! I love this; I have great memories learning how to hand dance to this song. Hope you are well and prosperous. Thanks again for a great song!

  • @TonyPowers22

Thank You. Loved it then, love it now. This and other wonderful songs were so much a part of my life.

  • @TonyPowers22 Thank you for such a great song. After all these years it is still great to listen to. I just love coming to You Tube and enjoying all the great songs I grew up to in the 60's and 70's.

  • @TonyPowers22 Thanks

  • @TonyPowers22

hi tony, I grew up in brooklyn listening to acapella singers under the street lights... those were the days. i went on to play guitar and sing and loved every minute of it. what i will always love is how perfectly songs like Remember Then, came together - the lyrics, melody, harmonies, Larry Chance and The Earls...that kind of magic happens once in a lifetime. Thank you for doing what you had to do back then to put Remember Then in the history books forever! joe frustaci...

  • @TonyPowers22 Thank you Tony. You're contribution to Rock & Roll history is timeless!

  • @TonyPowers22

Thanks for memories ... Larry has done justice to this song !!!!

  • @TonyPowers22

    yea sure whatever

  • @TonyPowers22 are you really the tony powers?

  • @TonyPowers22 you a god damn lie

  • this is propa music, better than the shite you get these days.

  • great song

  • I really like this song and im 14 :)

  • @GrandeSalvatore96 me 2!!

  • Yes, ShaNaNa does some great covers; but you can't beat Larry Chance and the Earls--or Dion, for that matter.

  • I listened to these guys for a while then i listened to sha na na, all i can say is the earls have a lot of talent that goes far too under appreciated, way better than sha na na

  • this is a tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Nowadays you tune into an "oldies" station and they're playing stuff from the 80's.

I sure miss this old music. Thanks for putting it out here.

  • @atcbotic I agree with you. This is the kind of music you just must love. It's just so sad that they made all these earraping modern songs. Good thing we got the internet! Cause these tunes will never dissapear. I just know it.

  • 2 People can't Remember Then.

  • Just love this! Soo wish I was 16 or so when this sort of music was on the radio etc. Thanks for posting! By the way I hate driving but this would be a great excuse to get to love it ! hugs x

  • @atcbotic brother all i gotta tell ya is someday the oldies will make a comeback, just you wait man and then it will be all over the radio, Semper Fi

  • Larry &The Earls should be the R.& R Hall of Fame.Just like more of the Doo- wop groups.Rock on

  • @atcbotic You can listen to 50's and 60's music on line from Canada! Type keyword- AM740.CA It's an classic

    in the states

  • something i dont get is that in mafia 2 it takes place in 1945 and then he gets back in 1951 and they put this song and alot of songs that ddnt come for a few years some even longer than a decade

  • @08Ghost893 i know exactly what you mean!! haha. just be glad the songs are on there. thats all that matters haha

  • @08Ghost893 It's to put the Rock 'n Roll feel in it. They didn't make a mistake or anything. 2K games did it on purpose.

  • Great!!!

  • Time to dance again!

  • @franconain Your a hater, Fukk Off No room for haters here.

  • Great song to dance to.....Thanks for posting!

  • I start my "oldies" show with this record for my High School Alumni Dances. The school closed in 1972 due to legislated mandantory busing. Too bad that one of the orginal singers lost his life in VN. I am a VN era vet so have a deep loss for him too.

  • @MrZfleming Nice to hear you came home.Rock on

  • That's what I'm talking about! ZERO Dislikes!

  • One of the greatest Doo-Wop songs of all times. Thanks for posting.

  • doo wop and swing are the 2 best genres that ever existed!!

  • great song

  • This song was on "The Best of Times" - 1 of the lesser known Robin Williams movies -Long live the oldies!!

  • Just perfect, especially now with all the hard times. OH! The 60's and 70's. That was when the blueprint of all current music was developed.

  • @B52sguy

Dont forget the mid late 1950's

  • @fitycent93 How could any sane person forget some off all time those songs! That is a list of no small redoubt. Just imagine "Happy Days" without the music that shared the screen ctedits.. "Dukeof Earl, " "Everly Brothers", "Elvis in "that although I still think Elvis has NOT left the building you can't tell me his influence has waned. What a video of the music from the mid fifties and all the way up. Now tha my fellow time machinetravellers

  • Bring back the good music and the great singing!!

  • What happened to those good old days??????

  • I really like the band The Earls, could someone give me a website with which I could download their songs please?

  • @lesnik123451 i never tried it but i have heard people talk about a website called mp3ify or something like that :P basically turns youtube vids into mp3s :)

  • Ok, thx.

  • @lesnik123451 I have 3 versions of the song, a faster one than this, this one the master, & demo. when I put them onto the pc I will send you all 3.

  • @lesnik123451 I actually have an entire CD of Larry Chance & the Earls, he is on FaceBook I am friends with him. Vito Picone of the Elegants("Little Star"),Norman Fox & the Rob Roys ,Randy Safuto of Randy & the Rainbows & a bunch of other doo wop greats.

  • I'm 39 and I swear I'm reincarnated. I resonate with all the doo wop stuff from the 50s and 60s. I have this on my Ipod and I just listened to 'Duke of Earl.'

Talk about great stuff! They don't do it like this anymore.

  • @paragonx29 I'm only 26 and swear I lived in this time too

  • best doo wop song from 1962

  • can't keep still, listening to this great sound luv it,long live DOO-WOP

  • WMG and SONY are slowly taking this song off YouTube :(

  • Last heard this on KNUZ in Houston 1982 played by the "The Real Shaun O'Neil".

  • @boutteperry this was used as the theme from an oldies show called remember then in new york on wfuv with matt deletto

  • great post.... GREAT SONG!! 5 *****

  • My mistake. The Ad-Libs have the best version of "The Boy from NYC"...

  • @JohnGee1977 Great song. Before Ad Libs released their version, I heard Frankie Valli and Group sing it live. It was AMAZING.

  • the epitome of great, white, NYC, up tempo doo wop of all time. Ass kicking harmony with one of the greatest lead singers of all time, Larry Chance.

  • @Howieshet

We're on the same page. You might also tap in on "The Boy from New York City" by the Manhattan Transfer, although I'm not sure they did the original. Up-tempo NYC doo wop at it;s best!

  • Interesting note about the "chinka-chinka" sounding rhythm at the beginning of the recording-according to a interview Norm N Nite had with Larry Chance, they planned on an electric guitar giving full backing, but there was a problem of some sorts with either the amplifier or the guitar, so they just laid the guitar down with no amplification whatsover. Pretty much an electric guitar not plugged in-listen close!

  • love this song I was 8 when I first heard this song .and always liked it

  • Songs like this reminds you of that old flame that just won't go out.

  • One of the Greatest kick-beat Doo Wop Records, indeed !
