The NBA today is more complicated than 11 years ago when Jordan played his final year as a bull. There are more defensive strategies as well as on the offensive end. I feel if Jordan played today, he wouldn't dominate as he did 10-18 years ago as he did. Today there are more black players and blacks most of the time are better than white athletes. Today there are also more international players with stretch the defense with their shooting ability. Jordan would have problems in todays league.
lol you sound stupid.how often do you hear kobe say that the game is more easier now than the early years because you cant be as aggresive in the paint.
Yet at 40 he still hung in there with NBA pros of just a few years ago. Players today don't have the heart. Jordan wanted to win and would do anything in his power to adapt to whatever was thrown at him, Jordan in his prime would destroy todays NBA.
i have to disagree, the era jordan played in was so historic and will never be another era like that, Jordan dominated the game even at the age of 38 to 40 when he played with the wizards, proof to back it up is that hes the oldest player to score 40 and 50 points, to be honest I dont think todays players would be dominant in a 90s or any other era below 90s, jordan dominated the league in its toughest era
Exactly. And none of those players ever won a title. Kobe's played with Shaq, Wade, LeBron, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Nash. I could keep going on with all these good players. And most of them we're in the finals once or won at least once. Jordan never played with any real challenge.
Yeah, and if we we're to make a new list of 50 greatest players, maybe Carmelo and Dwight and Maybe Ray Allen won't be apart of it. And if you're going to use the 50 greatest players, Michael played with Pippen all 6 championship years.
you know if we had to make a new list we would have to kick off other older players, it doesnt work like that, you cant say lets kick off wilt chamberlain of the list to make one more room for kobe
theres a difference between good and great, ray allen, melo, howard there good players but there not amazing or anything like jordan or magic. heres a fact tv rating for nba games since jordan left the game have continually decreased since his departure from the game, think about that people actually became less interested watching basketball after jordan left, thats something you'll never see happen with kobe or melo or any of those other thug names
Ray Allen is modern day Reggie Miller. Melo is not that great. And Howard is a defensive beast. Had 9 blocks in one finals game. Of course you're going to get terrible tv rating after Jordan's gone. But you got to remember that Jordan was the first great. Now everyone will always believe that he is the greatest. Just like your parents will always say the music they grew up with is better than their kids. You can't change the first.
why is it everytime kobe does a move people say "it kinda reminds me of jordan when he did this.....or lebron james wearing 23 to try and give people he has some jordan-esque, if people really did think like "jordan was the first great, now its kobe or lebron or whatever" then why do people alway try to imitate jordan with the tongue or the number or announcers seeing a basketball move and then saying "that reminds me of jordan in the 92 finals or whatever" thats what you call GREATNESS
That's besides the fact. Jordan used what other people did too. But Jordan is great no doubt about it. But I think he wouldn't win 6 titles in 8 years with the same team playing in todays era.
You're 17, you think Jordan didn't play against any talent because you don't know what superstars there were in the 90s. Most of the guys you mentioned are not going to be remember or known by a 17 year old 15 years from now. It might be hard for you to comprehend because of lack of experience on how life moves on, but most superstars are forgotten, unless they won many championships. When you're 23 you're going to be annoyed by a 17 year old who doesn't know who Kevin Garnette is.
yeah name a top talent that won a title when jordan was there in his prime besides larry bird and magic johnson. clyde drexler? barkley? name more. did they win a title? probably not. since they aren't very great. idiot.
You're 17, you don't know anything about basketball. And use your common sense, if Jordan is wining all the championships with his dominance, do you think many other superstars won championships? Hakeem and Drexler got lucky that Jordan retired. Again, your comprehension about life is very limited, I'm not going to have a conversation about NBA basketball with a kid who was 10 in 2000.
Oops, he was 10 in 2002, he was 8 in the year 2000. What the hell am I doing talking to a kid who was a little kid when Jordan played for the Wizards. So wasting my time. He even thinks Barkley won a championship, when Barkley is so well known for being basically one of the greatest players never to win a championship.
Obviously no one was good enough to win with Jordan. Like I've said before, I've watched enough games and videos of the 90's to understand no one came close to Jordan. Look at Drexlers, Barkleys stats compared to Jordan. They weren't anywhere near.
@inlovewithi im 17 but i can tell u everything about Jordan, Jordan played agianst undoubtly the best defenses the nba as ever seen the 90's had killer d if Jordan played in our league now he would easily score 60 a game in my mind cause defense is nothin like it used to be
@inlovewithi - great comment. Fact is Michael probably played against the greatest players in the greatest era of bball. Bird, Ewing, Robinson, Drexel, Malone, Dr. J, Stockton, Magic, Hakeem, Kareem, Kemp, Payton, Miller, Thomas, Dumars, Barkley, Dantley, Hill, Did it against the entire '96 draft etc. Not to mention going against zones, triple teams, and the toughest defensive teams (Celtics & Knicks) & all lived up to the hype.
@inlovewithi - [part 2] not to mention all the other players who would be all-stars by today's standards - guys like Mullin, Schrempf, Worthy, Starks, Penny etc. Players are to be compared to Jordan but Jordan should never be compared w/ other players.
BTW, He did all that he did with FOOTBALL-like defensive rules, not today's touch fouls. Watch what Craig Sager says about it ( /watch?v=Hcy_x5IKgEo )
It's sad that Kobe already gets compared to MJ when he hasn't even equaled Bird and Magic's success. Reaching Bird and Magic's level was MJ's ultimate goal. That's how he became the greatest. Fans today seem to think that players mirroring MJ automatically makes their greatness comparable. Those fans haven't seen the greatness of Bird and Magic.
Kobe is it? Apparently you have not seen Michael play. Kobe's legacy is not close to Jordans nor will it be when he retires. Had the opportunity and it passed. Pippen was a teammates but Shaq was the most dominant player in the game that helped create for Bryant by defenses focusing on him. Bryant is a legend but there is not justifiable argument to have him equl or greater to Jordan. Skill set, accomplishments. Nothing. If you think so you need to look at the evidence. Not supportive of Bryant.
People look at how cocky Kobe is and some random 50-point games against shitty teams, and assumes that it means killer instinct. Killer instinct isn't about taking 40 shots and missing 30 of them when someone talks smack to you. People who watched Michael Jordan know what killer instinct is, and they know that Kobe doesn't have it.
Do I c the dude? I see him fucking up in the Finals a lot, yea. Kobe is a joke. I think a lot of people need to apologize to MJ for comparing the two.
While I agree with you about Kobe in the finals, and MJ being better than Kobe to this point, why are you badmouthing Kobe so much? Kobe is a beast who is a top 10 player in the history of the game (if you are being honest with yourself). Not to mention Kobe has more time to establish himself. Kobe might not have played so great in the finals, but he avg about 28 points. Maybe you forgot the 89 and 90 conf finals where MJ did not do so hot against the Pistons.
Michael put up domiant numbers against the Pistons in 89 and0 90. Check out the numerous games on YouTube. The Pistons beat Jordan physically but Jordan kept the Bulls in the game when everyone else was shut down.
do u even watch d nba? he's 28. Jordan was 30 when he got his first ring. Kobe has 3. i dont think we can compare so early. but just to straighten things out. the league is way tougher now, Magic said it himself. Kobe has done more than what the give him credit for, just because he's not a goldenboy anymore. research his stats and Jordan's they are very similar. if you compare them relative to where Jordan was wen he was 28 Kobe wins. let him finish his career then we can compare him to Jordan.
Jordan was 28 when he won his first chapionship in 91 (he was born Feb 17 1963). In fact he had just turned 28 a few months prior to the finals. Might want to go do some of that research stuff you were talking about ;)
Kobe isn't Michael Jordan. I doubt he ever will be. When you're talking about rings, you have to talk about quality vs. quantity. You could take any one of the six rings MJ won, and it would mean more than all three Kobe has combined. Jordan put grace and all of his heart into all those rings. Kobe wasn't even the guy most responsible for his rings.
Michael Jordan is by far the best athlete any sport has ever had or will ever have. He is not only a Fantasy Sport Superhero, but an amazing human being, a people person, a leader by conviction, a guy with a great smile, a passionate competitor a role model to society; he is God's gift to this lifetime and I feel happy and thankful to have lived in the times of MICHAEL JORDAN. Thank you God, for Michael Jordan.
