unfortunately japan never made such a great anime like this anymore. according to news that I saw couple weeks ago, they produce more of adults cartoon rather than the one like this............due to ageing population.......what a waste!

I just found this on youtube! Fabulous! We used to watch this as kids in Japan in 1982/3 and I remember crying when we had to leave Japan because we were missing an episode of Candy Candy on the day we flew out!

Common, guys, you have to see the pink part of life, even for Candy. I cry watching every episode although I know the end allows me to dream that she will eventually understand that Mr. Albert is her true love and marry him. In the ending images she is very well dressed, how come you didn't realize? I know the message of hope is very well hidden, but still... have some faith.

i'm brazilian, and here inBrazil this cartoon was a tremendous success, I cried every time I see the cartoon, because the family Reagan, didn't like her. And the children of Mrs reagan always said bad things and did bad things to her. But at the end a family friend of Mrs reagan, liked her and adopted her.Anthony"s family adopted her. anthny was Candy's love.

This is the first ever cartoon/anime I remember watching as a child.. I don't even remember the story, all I can remember is the title and the blonde-haired young girl.. It's all very vague to me, but I would really love to watch it again, hope I can find a DVD series with English dubbing...

This is the only version of Candy Candy with English subtitles that I've seen being sold.

This song is so sad. I don't understand Japanese but I watch it in French and the story was very sad. Candy is an orphan, grows up in an orphanage. Her best friend Annie is adopted away when she is about 10. Then she falls in love with this very handsome rich boy who then dies in a horse accident. Then she is adopted by a rich family, but hated by some members for being an orphan, falls in love with Terrence a rich young man, then he has to marry someone else...all sad!

I don't know I am afraid how the closing titles had been aired. As I have them, they are not part of the individual episodes but separate so I cannot really tell. Maybe someone who had watched it originally could help here!

I watched a whole anime in my country many years ago, and as I remember, this 1st ending never was aired, just the second one (for all episodes).
