This game is extremely fast, but how did they make the graphics look so good while having so many racers? I think the GameCube was a really powerful machine. Anyway although Wipeout has weapons and more games I still think F-Zero beats it.

I think the reason why this game didnt get a release on the wii is because no one wanted to take up the daunting task of trying to improve from GX. Seriously GX is the best racing game ever made. Other than awesome new HD graphics, enhancing from GX seems almost impossible.
Okay now this looks fun. I never played F-Zero before except for the very unimpressive Maximum Velocity. This reminds me of a Nintendo version of Extreme G Racing (even though I am sure the 2D F-Zero games were out before).

If Nintendo releases another F-Zero game, it'll completely wipe out (no pun) the competition; I'm talking Need For Speed, Forza, Burnout - all of them. F-Zero rules the racing genre, but it took a nap for the others to catch up because it was MILES ahead.
@Wulf064 Don't think they will do that if they make a Wii U game, and I think they will. They probably sat this generation out because without motion controls (they know that wouldn't be precise enough at those speeds) it would really need HD and stronger hardware to have something new to offer. The comparison of wipeout and f-zero is pretty bad. Wipeout was obviously inspired by f-zero but wipeout is a hardcore game and f-zero is more casual. Yes they both go very fast but the difference in the tracks is way different. In wipeout the tracks are narrow and you actually have to time the turns just right with only a second of reaction tine to make it while going very fast and getting shot at. F-zero goes very fast but you have a very generous amount of track space to make not very crazy
God I Soooo want f-zero on the wii u. The ridiculous speed, combined with the new HD graphics...... (orgasms) Not to mention the possibilities for the new contoller! Perhaps the game could come with a neat steering wheel attachment, kinda like with mario kart wii. That, combined with the screen on the controller would work quite well as a sort of rear view camera type deal. So you could see directly behind you as you raced.

I want them to remake the original F-Zero but leave EVERYTHING the same except give it F-Zero GX's graphics. Leave the tracks, controls, cars the same but just up the graphics for a 20 year anniversary :)

What makes the F-zero GX so fun is how it is so hard. It makes you frustrated at times yet you still find it to be the game you pull off the shelf. This is an action packed thrill ride and if and if the 3DS isn't a good place to bring back the series than I don't know what is!

F-Zero is so superior to Wipe-out it's not even funny. Speed wise, F-Zero wipes the floor with it. Tracks and accompanying music it's F-Zero again. And thank god there are no power-up weapons in F-Zero. It's much more interesting/incredibly more fun spinning out one of your opponents with a deadly strafe or psycho-spin attack. F-Zero is the superior game.
This is bullshit I bought a wii at launch... They have not released a sequel to any of my favorite games, f-zero or pikmen and now they are making a new system. I hope they release one of them on the wii or else I am fucking done with them.

@CrazyGameNerd Also its not my point that F-Zero is faster, its that F-Zero is fun, while WipEout is nerve-racking, because In F Zero, tracks are wide, In Wipeout tracks are thin and stuff. And if you hit the edges you just stop. Or Explode if your on the MACH 1 Speed class. Trololol.
This was a cool game, except for damn handling. Even the best machines would skid and slip out at normal speeds, and on higher levels that would screw up your position. I loved the N64 version, this one had very good graphics and sound but game play was poor compared to it's predecessor.
Ok time I reveal something I learned: If the vehicle your using slides to much just hold down L or R while turning. Example: your going to make a tight left turn but you don't want to slide so hold L and then start turning left while holding L and you won't slide... well you won't slide out of control at least. If you just need to make a small left turn hold L lightly and then turn lightly while holding L. Depending on how tight the turn is thats how hard you hold L.
@glitchman161 Don't forget Mario, and Metroid Prime's series, and Zelda, and Luigi's Mansion, and Monkey-Ball. Do you know why the game has Sega as one of the companies that made it? Oddly enough the game uses Super Monkey-ball's game engine odd huh?

The reason why I havan't bought a current gen console yet: because there's not a single game on PS3 or 360 that made me go "ok, compared to GX this is truly the next level". GX is to videogames what Blade Runner is to movies, what Sagrada Familia is to cathedrals, what Ketamine is to drugs: overwhelming, multilayered, strange.

@Nivek150 Playing F-Zero GX with motion controls would be like trying to rocket skateboard down an ice hill painted with butter. It just wouldn't offer the level of precision needed to navigate the track at such high speeds, this isn't Mariokart. I think I'd rather see GX ported to the 3DS but knowing Nintendo, they won't publish anything they think will be too difficult for the 'casual audience' and I wouldn't be surprised if they dumb down the speed and challenge were it actually released.
@7TT77 So Sin and Punishment 2 doesn't exist? They won't gimp a game if the franchise is known for its difficulty, especially if it's a port of an already difficult game. What would be the point of selling a game like F-Zero to the casuals? They have no interest in a series like this.
@IRSPONGEBOB My point exactly. F-Zero GX bombed in sales and I think it's a safe bet to assume that that was due to it's difficulty. Nintendo don't often release a game that's that challenging and doesn't appeal to their demographic. Sin and Punishment 2 didn't sell well initially either. I would argue Nintendo have tweaked and changed gameplay in their popular franchises to appeal to a more casual audience. Mariokart Wii and Smash and Bros Brawl come to mind.
@7TT77 I guess a better example of a challenging game would be Donkey Kong Country Returns. A game that sold extremely well, considering the Donkey Kong franchise hadn't been relevant for years.
I think the reason F-Zero GX didn't do too well was because futuristic racing games just don't appeal to many people. However, with the popularity and awareness of the character Captain Falcon since Super Smash Bros. Brawl, another go at the series might prove better, sales wise.
@IRSPONGEBOB You'd think the level of difficulty would put some people off especially towards the later levels of DKCR. However Nintendo included a clever solution with the addition of Super Kong, an AI which played through the level for you should you be having trouble completing it yourself (like NSMBW and SMG2). It's a good system to have for casual players in platformers because it softens the difficulty barrier but you can't really apply it to a racer or fighter.
@Loruxz25 Or just slap health warning on it because it wouldn't bother me. But you guys are forgetting that the Wii supports the Gamecube controller and Classic Controller both of which work just fine, so they could make that a requirement. (Which some games have)
@7TT77 Well, seeing that the successor to the Wii is aimed to 'bring back the hardcore audience', it wouldn't be surprising to see a new F-Zero game on that console. Especially in 1080p with incredible graphics playing at 60FPS with the blinding racing element of F-Zero.............

Also, they said that they feel bad doing what they did with the Wii, which is another reason we'll see the new Nintendo system in a few days. Also, the 3DS has lots of "hardcore" games coming out.
The wii seriously needs a new F-zero game. I got into playing GX again after my gamecube memory card had to be formated but since then iv been more hooked to it than ever and this time round i managed to beat all of the cups on every difficulty, even master which im very happy with ^_^. Little did i know than there was a whole other cup to play when you complete the first 4 on master. that was a nice supprise.

What makes the F-zero GX so fun is how it is so hard. It makes you frustrated at times yet you still find it to be the game you pull off the shelf. This is an action packed thrill ride and if and if the 3DS isn't a good place to bring back the series than I don't know what is!

This is honestly the funnest and hardest Racing game i ever played... i mean dam! the campaign is so hard... and to get AX cup is hard too if u do it without going to an AX machine.... love this game...!!!!

F-Zero is so superior to Wipe-out it's not even funny. Speed wise, F-Zero wipes the floor with it. Tracks and accompanying music it's F-Zero again. And thank god there are no power-up weapons in F-Zero. It's much more interesting/incredibly more fun spinning out one of your opponents with a deadly strafe or psycho-spin attack. F-Zero is the superior game.

This is bullshit I bought a wii at launch... They have not released a sequel to any of my favorite games, f-zero or pikmen and now they are making a new system. I hope they release one of them on the wii or else I am fucking done with them.

@CrazyGameNerd Also its not my point that F-Zero is faster, its that F-Zero is fun, while WipEout is nerve-racking, because In F Zero, tracks are wide, In Wipeout tracks are thin and stuff. And if you hit the edges you just stop. Or Explode if your on the MACH 1 Speed class. Trololol.

This was a cool game, except for damn handling. Even the best machines would skid and slip out at normal speeds, and on higher levels that would screw up your position. I loved the N64 version, this one had very good graphics and sound but game play was poor compared to it's predecessor.

Ok time I reveal something I learned: If the vehicle your using slides to much just hold down L or R while turning. Example: your going to make a tight left turn but you don't want to slide so hold L and then start turning left while holding L and you won't slide... well you won't slide out of control at least. If you just need to make a small left turn hold L lightly and then turn lightly while holding L. Depending on how tight the turn is thats how hard you hold L.

The reason why I havan't bought a current gen console yet: because there's not a single game on PS3 or 360 that made me go "ok, compared to GX this is truly the next level". GX is to videogames what Blade Runner is to movies, what Sagrada Familia is to cathedrals, what Ketamine is to drugs: overwhelming, multilayered, strange.

Such forgettable music in this game. Really a shame considering F-Zero used to have amazing music. If a sequel ever does come out, I hope Hajime Wakai composes the music.

@Nivek150 Playing F-Zero GX with motion controls would be like trying to rocket skateboard down an ice hill painted with butter. It just wouldn't offer the level of precision needed to navigate the track at such high speeds, this isn't Mariokart. I think I'd rather see GX ported to the 3DS but knowing Nintendo, they won't publish anything they think will be too difficult for the 'casual audience' and I wouldn't be surprised if they dumb down the speed and challenge were it actually released.

@IRSPONGEBOB My point exactly. F-Zero GX bombed in sales and I think it's a safe bet to assume that that was due to it's difficulty. Nintendo don't often release a game that's that challenging and doesn't appeal to their demographic. Sin and Punishment 2 didn't sell well initially either. I would argue Nintendo have tweaked and changed gameplay in their popular franchises to appeal to a more casual audience. Mariokart Wii and Smash and Bros Brawl come to mind.

@7TT77 I guess a better example of a challenging game would be Donkey Kong Country Returns. A game that sold extremely well, considering the Donkey Kong franchise hadn't been relevant for years.
I think the reason F-Zero GX didn't do too well was because futuristic racing games just don't appeal to many people. However, with the popularity and awareness of the character Captain Falcon since Super Smash Bros. Brawl, another go at the series might prove better, sales wise.

@IRSPONGEBOB You'd think the level of difficulty would put some people off especially towards the later levels of DKCR. However Nintendo included a clever solution with the addition of Super Kong, an AI which played through the level for you should you be having trouble completing it yourself (like NSMBW and SMG2). It's a good system to have for casual players in platformers because it softens the difficulty barrier but you can't really apply it to a racer or fighter.
I agree with you on F-Zero.

And saying Nintendo would dumb down shit for casual audiences isn't saying much, because they had released F-Zero on Snes and on N64 which were still hard games, and they continue to release hard games, its just that they may ease 'casuals' into it, so they would enjoy it more. You know like anal sex.
But F-Zero on the 3DS would look fucking sick, with the 3D and all, and even without the 3D, it should look at least as good s GX.

The wii seriously needs a new F-zero game. I got into playing GX again after my gamecube memory card had to be formated but since then iv been more hooked to it than ever and this time round i managed to beat all of the cups on every difficulty, even master which im very happy with ^_^. Little did i know than there was a whole other cup to play when you complete the first 4 on master. that was a nice supprise.
