Great movie. The beginning and the end were the only parts I disliked. The very tail end of the film end is silly IMO (when she sets out); and the beginning (this scene) is impossible for his character to achieve. (Even Zatoichi himself would not be able to make that bow shot while wearing a gas-mask & hood.)

In one of the scenes he says to the girl that gives him food. "Where you blinded in war by the sun after?" If you have studied what effects nuclear radiation has on the planet and its people you would understand the flash of the nuke makes you blind. So if there was ever a nuclear war make sure to cover your fucking eyes unless you want to loose them.

Its just as bad as that crappy movie Signs with that religious bible thumping nut job Mel Gibson, and the miracle at the end of I Am Legend with the giant butterfly. When he tells the story of how the world ended, he explains that many thought religion was the cause so they burned all the bibles. Then he turns out to be some super religious miracle? But the movie feels proreligion.

I believe wholeheartedly that religion does detrimental damage to society and the human race will achieve any real potential until it leaves its darker days of religion in the past.

The Book of Eli -- movie making genius. The opening scene with the frames, where the (cat) critter is NOT present, was something most viewers didn't understand, even if they noticed. Very subtle, skillful piece of film making. (Yep, I'm one of the those, who had to watch the film a couple of times, because I heard not one word about the film, prior to viewing it the first time.)
