Thanks. It is in fact only wires. It uses the amplifier in the laptop, which means that the volume does not go very high.
The final ingredient (behind the speakers) is just a breadboard to connect all the wires.
And you are right - it is a "check this out" video. I'm not at all trying to advertise it as a instructional video. In fact, if you know of a way to make that show in youtube, I'm all ears. I am as surprised as anyone about the viewcount :)

Step 1: Take some speakers and a laptop and throw wires at the problem until you hear sound :)

Obviously, wires aren't going to do the trick as wires are not amplifiers, and neither are speaker or laptops.
Plus, you used more than just speakers, wire, and a laptop. :]
