  • I hate this exercise, I used to have it I'm my programme! When I got to a big weight it started to hurt my rotor cuff!

  • standing pushdowns are the same work for your triceps accept let you do more weight therefor working them harder. kickbacks (this workout in the vid) make you hold the weight up using your delts(rear delts imparticular) therefor doing less work for the tricep. go to cable pushdowns for more work and more size. these really dont to much.

  • @peterpansen23 bend is a verb, bent is an adjective. so it is bent over, as in bent over triceps extension or bent over rows. dumb ass.

  • I've been doing this exercise since I started working out, but for some reason there are times when I only feel it in my lats. Does anyone have an idea why this could be?

  • its cuz ur elbow isnt close to ur body or side

  • and you have to put the weight straight back not out to the side

  • For some reason i can't do this excercise no matter howmuch i try, i can't get the form correct, i always end up using my arm or shoulder, can't concentrate on just moving the elbow, i have no idea why! i've tried & tried!

  • There's a much simpler way of doing this exercise.

    Get a barbell, put and put about 40, pounds on it, than lay down on the ground face up and put your hands as close as possible together and push up and down and that will strengthen your triceps. There are many way of doing this exercise.

    Or try getting 2 chairs together than put them in front of each other. Put up your leggs on one chair and put the other part of your body on the other, than put your hands to the tip of the chair than

  • Go up and down and you'll get the same effect. triceps have always been pretty easy for me, It's the biceps that always gave me problem because I get tendinitises and i always have to Ice it down.

    And it gets very painful.

    And always use free wights, Don't use Machines it's a waste of time and you'll never reach anything.

  • @TheonlyPharaoh1 I agree with doing free weights. Much better. Machines are only good if your limited due to injury or something. I don't even do bent over triceps extensions anymore. not effective enough in my book

  • the bench press has nothing to do with this exercise, bench press=chest. Tricep extension=tricpes duh.

  • mmmm yes... but triceps are only used a tiny little bit in the bench press. It's like trying to train shoulders with bench press it's just not going to do much for ya. Better things to do for tricpes would be what the video is doing, dips, skullcrusher, machines, etc...

    But trying to workout your triceps with bench press is pretty dumb in my opinion.

  • nah man i cant agree with that I mean the first thing to get a burn when doing shoulder press or push ups is my sholders and triceps. Its like saying pull ups are not good for biceps... if it wasnt for the bicep burn i could do 5+ times more reps. Its not dumb really its just not an isolated tricep workout.

  • the triceps and shoulders feel the burn the quickest because they are smaller muscles and can't carry as much load as your chest. But your chest is the one that's getting the bigger workout so you definetely shouldn't do bench press to workout your triceps, you should do an isolated tricep exercise. Like the ones I mentioned before :)

  • yeh the triceps r getting a better workout because they r trying to help work out a stronger muscle. Anyone will tell u its a great workout for the triceps

  • hold on I don't think I understood you correctly. Are you saying that your triceps get more of a workout than your chest doing bench press?? And that you don't need to do other exercises to work your triceps since you're doing bench press? (assuming that you're only working each muscle with one exercise)

    If that's the case then you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

    what im saying is that ur chest is a very strong muscle.. much stronger than ur triceps and so during bench press ur triceps are gona be pushed until they cant go anymore in order to work ur chest. I do lots of tricep workouts e.g. dips, overhead tricep extentions etc. Im just saying ur triceps will get a great workout from bench press because its pushing them to their limits in order to work a stronger muscle.

  • now that I aggree with. But you do also think that the chest is getting more of a workout than your tricpes? I mean you're chest is going to get bigger than your triceps if you do bench press. Not saying that your chest will get tired before your triceps, but your chest will have the most pressure on it. Just that the triceps can't take as much pressure as the chest so they will fail first.

    1 over the hand two hand dumbell

    2.Bent Over Triceps Extension(above ex.)

    3.triceps dips

    plz suggest something, coz i feel like m missing something here!!!

    and one more question when should Forearm Reverse Dumbbell Curls be done, after biceps or triceps???

  • For ur last question ill suggestion doing right after working ur biceps. You always want to workout the major muscle first. Hammer curls is a great workout for ur biceps and forearms!!

  • For the triceps you can add the diamond pushup, head crushers (look it up on here) and the above is actually one arm kickbacks. Also mix it up and do different things every two weeks that is what works for me.

  • I think there's a confussion with "One-Arm Dummbell Kickbacks".

    Bent-Over Triceps Extension

    Attach a rope handle to the high pulley of a cable machine. Face away from the cable machine and grab the rope with both hands. Lean forward by taking a step with your right foot and bending at your waist. Hold the rope over and behind your head, so your upper arms are parallel to the floor and your elbows are bent 90 degrees. Pull the rope in front of your head.
