@lonefoxilluminus cool, thanks! In the Canary islands filming with an olympus U though camera, but it sucks so Im getting the housing fir the handycam
@HardlyArtful On the contrary, serious underwater videography and photography is both reckless and selfish if done "with" a dive buddy. Why should I risk someone else's life while my attention is totally focussed on taking pictures. I can't hold a camera steady when turning to check my buddy every 30 secs. If I kill myself, then that's my own stupid fault. Aside from which, I have specially configured fully redundant gear. Bailout bottle etc, and rarely am I filming at any significant depth.
i am about to order the housing and wondered if you have used and lighting ? . I have spent 3 years towing around a D70 in a housing and now its the switch to video.. is the sound just recorded from the housing?
Hi, the sound in the video is just the internal mic on the camera, havn't used lighting rig, though it'd be interesting to see the results.
I have a few niggles with the camera/housing, One Touch White Balance, isn't one touch, it requires menu navigation, which is a pain when ur underwater using the reed switches while trying to hold a slate in front of the lens without stirring up the silt.
Also, there's a cable to reverse the image in the viewscreen to use with the Ikelite housing Side Mirror. The problem is, when it's plugged in, the viewscreen ceases to be touch sensitive, meaning you can't use manual white balance, and have the image the correct way round at the same time.
I resolved this issue by losing my ikelite mirror climbing in a zodiac. (yes it falls off easy). I'm slowly getting used to filming without a viewscreen, which is ok so long as I check for lens bubbles.
that was really cool to see, + the performance of the camera underwater with the housing. im getting this Camera myself and was thinking of getting the Sony housing (SPK-HCE) more for snorkelling and surfing rather than diving.
Thanks for viewing, SR10 is definately a nice little camera, my only issue with it is that the one touch white balance isn't one touch, and requires a lot of menu navigation, which is a pain underwater, but that shouldn't be a problem for you, and you most likely won't need to use it at all. SPK-HCE looks like a good housing, it's only got a 5m depth rating, but that is enough for snorkling. It's probably the closest you're going to get to professional looking images without spending thousands.
do you have any views of the structure, looking up from the seabed or anything? amazing vid

Don't get the sony housing, if you want to go deep with the camera, u need the ikelite housing, it goes down I think to about 60m.

I have this camera and I am getting an underwater housing too, but on the site from sony they sell them for 250 - 300 € and only go 5 meters deep.
I see the wide angle lens gives a great result !

i know i might sound foolish, but how did you film this underwater? im getting this camera and underwater filming would be ace :)

Ikelite housing, red filter and wide angle conversion lens costing, all from a company called "camera's underwater".
Scuba gear is a bonus too :)

You've had a fantastic viz. I have been diving there last weekend (13/06/09) and it was maybe at best 3m or so and quite dark.

and thank you for the reply! i cant wait to get this camera, 5m is def ok for me for now, i'v yet to get into diving, hope to see more stuff from you

Thanks for the comment, am still a bit shakey at the moment though, I'd bet Jacques Cousteau would have done the camera more justice :).
Visibility is deceptive in the vid, due to the wide angle lens, though that was relatively good conditions for the area. around 2 Metres vis.

Jaques Crouseau would have killed for your camera! Nice viz there, compared to what I've got here (Montana,USA)!.
