Would have liked to hear Flea actually jam and the drummer to sound not like a drum machine.
If you want to increase your technique try learning by ear. THIS is a bit much to tackle all at once but mess around with it and you should at least pick up some new licks.

Don't get me wrong, I love his leads, his solos, his melodies, everything about his playing, but it is very understandable if he's not someone's favorite guitar player. For example, I know a lot of technical players who think his improvised leads are bad, but think his melodies and songwriting is wonderful. In my opinion, this is very understandable.
Frusciante's style is more sloppy like Hendrix and Page... but you shouldn't confuse that with technicality. I for a fact know he does play along with metal guitarists like Rhoads and EVH and plays classical music perfect, but he doesn't care to be a mindless shredder. He says it is the space in between the notes that dictate the sound.
It just sounds so awesome. I could listen to it for hours, yet the theory is so basic. Even technical guitar players like Malmsteem due similar things, as Yngwie has built most of his music off of the harmonic minor scale. But I would pick Fru over Malmsteem anyday.
I don't get it. Johns playing sounds cool but he's playing so many notes through such heavy distortion/wah. That's like the oldest trick in the book. I started checking him out after I saw him in the RollingStone vid with Mayer and Trucks, but I haven't seen anything that really rocks my socks. All John's fans talk a big game on him, can you guys point me to a video of his that kicks ass. I'd love nothing more than to discover sounds/players which alter my musical thinking. Cheers!

A slow solo, would be, search for RHCP - Hey (not hey oh, snow) toward the end of the song he has a mellow amazing solo that sounds like the guitar is talking.
I'm guessing you don't like the flashy hendrix type of rock solo's so that is a mellow one to check out.
but if you don't like Flashy, distorted rock/funk solo's and leads, than Froosh prolly isn't for you bro.

As you can tell by my names, I am a big Gung s N' Roses fans, particularly slash. That said, I think Fruscainte is the best guitarist out there today. Slash's stuff with original GnR is great but Frusciante has been good for a lot longer. Slash was only good for 5 years. His stuff with Velvet Revolver is not good. Whether it is new or old, Frusciante is amazing.

He's using some of the most basic scales in music and creating such...you can't even call it music- it's beyond that.
I have yet to find out how he does that with just those scales- how he gets that distinct feel and sound

Yeah Froosh is amazing
Way "better" than Yngwie in my opinion.
But it's so awesome how they can get that sound out of their guitar- using certain licks
I sit all day and try and find a way to get those little bending type licks Froush and Hendrix uses that just sound so awesome

pentatonic is mostly used in blues, and dorian is the most similar to pentatonic than any other scale

yea, i guess it is a matter of opinion, but still, i think almost anyone can say that its more about the feeling that comes across from the music than how fast someone can play. besides, john can play pretty damn fast WITH passion, just look at lyon 6.6.06

1)He's not as good as frusciante as proven^
2)The Terminator has more emotion than him.
