This looks pretty awesome!!! I really like the locations you were shooting too! Everything just had such a beautiful and isolated feel to it. Did you grade this or is this the original look of the footage?
How important is manual exposure control for movie mode?
Can you give an example wherein I would really need to have manual control in movie mode? I really need this camera, but worried I might regret not having the manual.control for movie mode.
I agree, I think digital slr's have to be used like film camera's. Fast panning for film doesn't work either, so tripod and slow steady shots almost a must! You let the action take place IN the frame. Nice.
It doesn't have anything to do with the lens...it's the refresh rate for the image chip....for you to not have slanted video, the entire frame has to be completely "redrawn"..EVERY horizontal line. Has nothing to do with the CMOS chip either...this is called horizontal refresh rate and is inherent in every video camera from the cheapies to the studios, if they didn't use a process called FIT, or frame interline transfer. the process I described.
I recently purchased a canon 500d Kit. I don't know how to explain this. The problem with
recording video is that for example if i am standing in the center and i have 6 vertically
straight poles around me and I pan the camera fast, I get distorted images (the vertical poles look slanted). Is there a problem with my camera or am i missing something? Please Help..!
That will occur with any camera with a CMOS sensor. It has to do with the way the sensor processes an image. Its basically recording different parts of the image at different points in time. Its a problem inherit in CMOS sensors ie the 500D. Nothing is wrong with ur camera. Whilst the sensor is excellent for stills, its not so great for video when there is rapid movement. Steady movement or use of a tripod will help, but its not a point and record cam, still a point and shoot at heart =)
i'm very intelligent so i'd like to ask from you guys : what kind off lenz u was using??

I'm not sure, but I think that is well-known in this kind of cameras as "Jelly/Skew Effect"...

It's called rolling shutter. You can find some information about it in google, youtube...
